Mission: To gather the role players to form a dedicated front to making good role plays!

-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The aim of this entire Guild is to gather all the role players as one. So that we may, all, as one single Guild, role play without fear of the lack of members. Similarly, this should also help manage the problem of poor participation in role plays.

The Guild will, together and periodically, gather and brainstorm for ideas for role play. Through voting, a role play will then be formulated and created for the participation of everyone else interested in and out of the Guild.

Also, there will be Role Play Battles organized.

Having created this Guild in a time where it does seem like role players are a less frequent sight, I would thus expect a high amount of participation from members keen on joining this Guild.

Naturally, there are two groups:

1. The Good Role Players
2. The Weaker Role Players

I do not intend to put up some class distinction between this two.

You, as the role player, will know where you stand. You define where you stand by making different quality of posts in the various role plays you participate in.

That said, please proceed on to announce your interest in joining. More changes will be implemented as the membership improves.

Rules:
1. Have Fun
2. Participate as Actively as possible
3. Have Fun
4. Be Polite
5. Show, Not Tell (Prove you're a member by actions, not by words; Linked to 2.)
6. If there is a name change. Please announce it here too... PLEASE

This sounds very similiar to the Consortium...

Which Ness created to encourage weaker roleplayers to get involved more under the guidance of more experienced writers.

I did try to sign up for Consortium previously, though, Ness never quite got back to me on that attempt.

However, there is this difference here, in objectives. The Consortium, as you say, is created by Ness to encourage the weaker role players to get involved under the guidance of more experienced writers.

The LoRe, however, is created with the intent of uniting the role players, experienced or not, to creating quality role plays.

I presume you found this rather similar to The Consortium because of the part on Good Roleplayers and Weaker Roleplayers. That, is inspired by The Consortium, but was created to show a difference between that guild and mine.

The Consortium has got a system which defines the better role players from the weaker ones. What I wanted to show in that segment was that there won't be such distinction.

Hopefully, that answers your queries.

Just trying to avoid two guilds that have the same goal.

Ness' Consortium isn't just to help weaker players. It gets them involved and helps them that way. CassinoChip's RP was created with Consortium members in mind. so these two guilds are going to be pretty similiar.
My FFX RP will also be for Consortium Members to use as an experience curve.

My question here is; can members be in both? Seeing as they're almost the same. >_>

I don't see why they cannot be in both Guilds. I'll have to re-emphasize this Guild's main aim: that of uniting the role players to being involved in role plays they participate in. Admittedly, it would be similar to the Consortium in this sense.

However, it can be pointed out that most Guilds would have this similar aim, with several other aspects that would differentiate. LoRe is no different. The 'other aspect' is that it would revolve more around keeping the recruited member's sense of belonging, to ensure sustained participation.

Imagine a Guild like in ancient Venice back in it's glorious days. Those Guilds then unites its members to work on it's manufactured products, ensuring a positive quality.

LoRe will work towards something similar to that. (In case citing Venice as an example has offended anyone, I'm not insulting Venice for being undistinguished at present or anything else.)

That, and I hope to distinguish the Guild from the Consortium by removing the division of members into 'Experienced' and 'Not so Experienced', and instead, just allowing them membership, with the promise of active participation on their part.

Thus, answering your question. The answer is 'yes'. Members are free to join either guild, or both at the same time. It will be up to them.

Personally speaking, I'm not too optimistic, but I'll take things as it comes. :)

Interesting proposition. Sign me up. :D

Nice. Congratulations on being the first to be interested, lol. I hope you can promise to be able to participate actively in future role plays, and that you did not join this guild just for the namesake.

That said, I expect you will now understand the consequence of now being a Guild. (Muahahahahahahahaha)

.. That is, to have as much as fun through role playing, and providing a great experience to others as well as yourself. (And the lil' conditions above. I'll add that as rules)

I would also love to join this guild!

Though, even if my activity has been very low for last 3 or 4 months, I'm back to be as active as I once was.

Great! You two are officially recruited.

Just remember...

And, you must keep the rules in the first post in mind! Have fun!

I hope you can promise to be able to participate actively in future role plays, and that you did not join this guild just for the namesake.

Of course, in case where there aren't way too many Rp's. Having only few with active members grants everyone time to work on their posts, while having tons of Rp's would tear myself and everyone else to pieces. And that would mean lack of both, quality and length of posts.
So yeah, if there are up to 5 RP's, I think I could take part of them all.

BTW! No way that I joined it for namesake :D I just agree with your main idea. One of the biggest problems of FFF Rp section has always been the massive amount of RP's, while they lack Role-players itself. Having an organization which RP's together in few RP's means the first ones that will ever make their way to the end and maybe even get sequels/prequels.

Anyway, I'm using this post as a promotion as well. Recently, I have started to revive my FF IX RP. If anyone is interested in it, s/he could also join it. ( The Rp was chosen as best unoriginal RP in January so it's a quality one)

OOC: http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/t...final-fantasy-ix-the-fall-of-mages-25005.html

The roleplay itself: http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/t...al-fantasy-ix-the-fall-of-mages-rp-25133.html

In the end, it's an honor to be part of your RP guild :D

Similarly, it's a pleasure to recruit you into the Guild. Others that are keen on joining the role play please proceed on to sign up.

Though not an official project by LoRe, I would encourage members to join the role play. That, considering the activity in the role play section of the forums has been dwindling thus far.

EDIT:

By the way, I really think you should create a new thread, so that interested members can read the synopsis of the story up to the latest post. I myself am keen too, but to read the entire story up to the latest part is quite a pain to do.

After all, it's 23 pages of posts. Quite challenging, to be honest.

Yeah, I will create a new thread which will contain all major story events from the beginning to the latest thread.

BTW! If I remember right, you are already taking part of it :) You had a character called Garbiel, am I right? :)

Now about the guild itself. When we get enough members, we should do a vote about the theme of our first official RP. Or everyone just suggest something and the best idea becomes reality. What do you think?

Sign me up to. I have the FFX RP for the Consortium members to abuse and I have an FFVIII RP in mind that we can use as a start for participation for this here guild. Just gimme a little time to get it set up if you'd like to use it. :3

I love to roleplay. Clearly. Otherwise it wouldn't be one of my sections. :wacky: But yeah. =3

If you are accepted, I would have nothing against a FF VIII Rp. Actually, to be honest, I would absolutely love one as there rarely are Rp's bout FF VIII.

Certainly, I would gladly accept your request to join!

I hope you can promise to be able to participate actively in future role plays, and that you did not join this guild just for the namesake.

I don't mind using the Final Fantasy VIII role play you have in mind to be the first project that LoRe takes up. I suppose I'll gladly take it up if you don't mind. No hurry though. We could wait for more members while you set it up.

@ Solidjuss

Yeah, I do have the character named Gabriel in your role play. But later went missing due to poor activity. Sorry about it :P

In any case, I will be more active now, so I suppose I'll get back into your role play, though I'll take up another character for a change.

Okay. Anyway, I did the story overview, so lazy people can read it :) But it won't be half as good as was the true story of RP, after all, it's just an overview.

Great. Now to await more members keen on joining this Guild. We'll need more members to improve membership, as well as to provide the players keen on the Guild's role play. Not that non-members are barred from joining....

Nevertheless. Interested members reading this post, do sign up!

Yep, be sure to join it :) It's totally worth it.

Anyway, long ago I created a RP guide. Though, I only made the first part ready. Thought that I post it here, so you could tell me what you think about it :D

First, I would like to state why I'm doing this!

I have been role playing for quite a while by now and in time, I have learned a lot. Fortunately I have been lucky enough to take part of RP-s which were made by the best of the best. And that's why I have reached a level where I don't need to follow guides or tips. Everything has become natural for me and so I thought, why not to share my knowledge. Especially because I hadn't read a RP guide before I was a decent RP-er and that's a fact I am not happy of.( Once, I was even kicked out from a RP because I didn't follow the main rules.) But I don't wish to waste any more of your precious time so I get started with it!

Teach me Mogster - Lesson 1, The Basics!

Two small and pink pets were standing on the shore of a source of water. Or is it better to be said that they were on the edge of a slough. Indeed, they were in a swamp, surrounded by high thatch and the sounds of different animals. One of them, who was standing on the left, was huger and seemed to be more mature as well as more experienced. The other one, on the right side, was a small and young moogle. One who still had a lot to see and hear. Fortunately he was standing in the front of a great and well known master, called Mogster. A smile was formed on both faces.

'' Master Mogster, are you going to teach me today?'' The young one asked with enthusiastic tone. His eyes were filled with pure pleasure and excitement. Mogster nodded.

'' Today you are going to learn about a great thing, but at the same time, about a dangerous thing. It's role playing!'' Mogster told. His voice was filled with glory and power. And his chest was pushed upwards, to look more powerful and serious.

'' That's cool. Finally I can learn about role playing. So, what are we going to role play about?'' Young one asked. Certainly, he couldn't wait to start role playing. But instead Mogster started laughing.

'' Not yet, not yet. Before you start role playing, there are many things you should do. First thing is that you have to make sure you have time to spend.'' Mogster winked eye to his young student.

'' I've got time ... now can we start, please master?'' He asked eagerly. But Mogster didn't seem to be as active nor as enthusiastic as his younger relative.

'' No, of course not. Rushing with role playing is the biggest mistake one can do. Take your time. Also, patience shows your respect towards me and everyone else. Now Mosh, there are other things besides time you need before starting. Always be sure to have a dictionary near, even if we are talking in our native language.'' Mogster said. His voice, it was cold and calm. Mosh, yeah it was the name of the student, smiled to Mogster.

'' Why do I need a dictionary? I know how to spell in my language don't I?'' He questioned his masters words with astonished tone. Though, his face reflected the sad fact that he was already bored. Mogster's eyes widened.

'' You don't seem to know nothing at all ... If you are role playing, you are taking roles of different personalities. Ones who may use different words than you do every day. And that's why you may make mistakes. After all, grammar is the foundation of communication and understanding.'' Mogster said with more emotional voice. The impatience and lack of respect that Mosh showed to him was slowly making him angry.

'' Oh well ... Now let's start?'' Mosh asked, faster than he had done it before. And as a surprise for Mosh, a huge laughter filled the air. It seemed as it was Mogster who had caused it. His face had filled with pleasure and happiness.

'' You are a funny young one Mosh. And there is a lot for you to learn before starting role playing. If you have make sure you got a dictionary and time, preferably half a hour or even more, you have to think up a character. For a RP you would like to join. Finding the right one might be hard or easy. But the character you create will be the one whose role you will take for whole RP, usually.'' Mogster wanted to continue but was interrupted by Mosh who once again had run out of patience.

'' Yeah, I can do this. How's that: My name is Josh Mosh, I got brown hair and am cool? It's good right?'' Mosh asked eagerly. He was waiting for a positive answer but was disappointed. Mogster smiled friendly.

'' What did I tell you before? Use your time well. This is certainly a rushed character who is missing a lot. First, your name. It's a thing that you will be stuck with till the end. And you don't want to get a lame one like Josh Mosh. Also your name will usually be the first thing that others get to know about you and that's why it will give the first impression of you to them. For example, Master Mogster is a brilliant name. Everyone understand that I am a master and Mogster hints for my origin. That I'm a moogle.'' Master continued and gave a glance to the source of water on his right.

'' Other than name, you must always give as much details as possible about your outfit and look. You only told that you have brown hair but what about your height and weight? And how does your face look like? Showing a picture is the easiest choice as a good character appearance description leaves room for fantasy and creativity which are the main parts of role playing. True, if you lack skill in terms of describing, what you certainly do Mosh, just provide a picture to avoid confusing things.''Mogster continued his lesson until he stopped for a moment to take a deep breath. It finally seemed that Mosh had learned something and was listening to him closely. Or he was just watching the beautiful fishes in the slough and had no time to talk.

'' And when you get done with your appearance, you should start thinking about your attitude. Your personality is certainly one of the most important things to you, even more important thing than your history, story-wise. Because your characters personality will be the thing that leads you trough the role play and determines how you act in different situations and how you get finished with the RP. And well, after personality you should talk about your past. This is always a interesting part as this determines the position you start the RP. Are you listening Mosh?'' Mogster angered almost instantly when a loud snore had been released by Mosh. It seemed as he had fallen asleep even if watching fishes was quite interesting.

'' Oh yeah, I'm listening master!'' Mosh muttered with low and bored voice. He gave a glance to master and then turned his gaze back to the fishes.

'' When you finally get your character done, it's the time you have to wait for an answer from the role play creator. But if you followed my hints and the rules that RP owner stated, the answer should be certain. You will be accepted. And then the fun will start.'' Mogster noticed that Mosh got filled with excitement and energy. As all of sudden he jumped up and started listening closely to master.

'' Oh yesh. We can finally start to role play right?'' Mosh asked with a happy voice. It seemed as only thing he cared about was role playing itself.

'' Well, you seemed so sleepy before so let's get a good rest. Always remember that there is no point to role play or to create a character when you are sleepy or ill. That could only lead to a bad end.'' Mogster said and turned around. He was going to home now.

'' Come on Mosh!'' He shouted to Mosh who was already left behind by few meters.

'' Gosh ... you know a lot Mogster.'' Mosh muttered alone with quiet voice.

'' Yeah I know!'' Sounded a familiar voice. Seemed as Mogster was able to hear anything good about himself.

I hope you don't mind me offering some in depth criticism about this one. With all due respect, I'd like to point out the following: (All of which are segments from your post above)

-------

A smile covered both faces.

Nothing much, really, except that it sounds weird to me. Something like 'A smile formed on both faces' sounds better, though I have little complaints about this one.

Today you are going to learn about a great thing, but in the same time, about a dangerous thing. It's roleplaying!

'but in the same time'? That should be at.

Certainly, he couldn't wait to start roleplaying. But Mogster started laughing.

Never ever start a sentence with 'But'. Grammatically speaking, it's not correct... Though I seriously pay no heed to this either.

Mogster blinked eye to his young student.

While the context of 'blinked eye' may be reasonable, a better word to use is 'winked'. Blinked eye... Sounds weird.

I got time

Also another minor problem that can be ignored. Just add in 'have' between 'I' and 'got'. Or, if you're lazy to type it all out, a 've would do.

Mosh, yeah it was the name of the student, smiled to Mogster.

By using 'yeah it was the..', you seem to be making more of a forum post, rather than role playing. Not a problem, actually. Just my opinion.

Mogsters eyes got wider.

A missing apostrophe. (I.E Mongster's )

And, you could have said Mongster's eyes widened. Shorter, and sounds better, once again, in my opinion.

Mogster told with more emotional voice.

It's definitely a recurring habit. I've read your posts in the Final Fantasy IX role play. You really love to use 'told' to describe people speaking.

Steiner told and fell down by the effect of a water spell.

A young knight told the same moment he lost his head.

The officer of 8th squad told and killed another mage.

'' I can still count ...'' He told.

'' Sire ... we will retreat ...'' The officer told and vanished together with other Pluto Knights.

There, those are examples... All from the exact same post! Try to vary the vocabulary more often. Instead of just 'told', use 'said', 'mumble' 'stutter'. A thesaurus would be a tool that you should have too.

And there is a lot for you to learn before starting roleplaying.

It should be 'before starting to role play'

Mogster smiled friendly.

... In this case, it should be friendlily. Or smiled a friendly smile. Smiled friendly is definitely wrong. Friendly in this case is an adjective. Friendlily is an adverb, the right word to use.

A fish had popped out for a moment.

... har har. I scared you........ Not funny, was it?

..that leads you trough the roleplay and determines how...

Trough may go past the spell checker without problems, but what it really means is 'a long narrow open container for animals', or 'a channel used to convey a liquid', or 'an elongated region of low barometric pressure', or a hollow between two wave crests in the sea', OR 'a region around the minimum on a curve of variation of a quantity'

In any case, it isn't what you are trying to say. The right word is 'through'.

even if watching fishes was quite interesting.

Nothing wrong with this one. Though I won't agree watching fishes are that interesting, LOL.

Told a familiar voice.

There, it appears again.

-------

Well, in any case, I think this guide deserves more careful scrutiny. Although you deserve praise for bothering to type all this up, there is much grammatical errors and strangeness in the wording that needs to be altered.

Of course, all these are my opinions. They can be ignored, but what I conclude is.

Always be sure to have a dictionary near, even if we are talking in our native language

English doesn't seem to be your native language. Just a guess though.

It isn't my primary language :D

And I forgot to add that it hasn't been polished yet as I never really finished it, which means no grammar fixes and stuff like that. But thanks for pointing out those things, especially the told thing. Besides, it was made quite a while ago, so I'm not surprised at all that there are that many mistakes.

EDIT: Anyway, fixed some of the things ... and well it seems as I make mistakes against my own beliefs. Especially about the no rushing thing :D Recently I tend to rush and not work so much on the grammatical part of my posts. I should do it, especially because I have been away from English and RP'ing for half a year or so .... and sorry for that. Won't happen again, I hope :)
