ORP/URP/RPB: ORP, URP and RPB.
Name: Crimson Wolf
Alignment: Good
Race: Ferfnir. A race of humanoid Wolves, that have the strength of a Wolf, and the intelligence of a human.
They are a gifted race that are a Wolf sub species with some skill level of shape shifting, some having a more or less human-like Humanoid Form if they have very good skill with it or just decent, they can all freely shift between the Humanoid Form and their Feral Form at will.
Being very Wolf-like in appearance, being just as covered in fur as one a regular Wolf, only taller, standing upright on two legs (when not in their Feral Form), it doesn't require a great deal of shapeshifting skill to make the change, it just causes for a slight downsizing and forces them into a quadruped stance, and can't run or even walk any good on two legs.
Their personality is almost always like that of a human at all times, though there is definitely a lot of Wolf in them, sometimes it shows, but generally not the vicious side of one, but more like a tame, playful one.
Their fur is usually fairly long, and varying in color, most often being similar to the colors of a normal Wolf, like a Grey Wolf, Timber Wolf, Arctic Wolf, etc., though some have odd, if not interesting patches of fur on them, or their primary color of fur being unusual (though this is very rare, especially the latter).
As for their physic, it is not very noticeable under all their fur, but they have quite muscular, compact bodies, that can withstand a lot of damage from attacks without it hindering their fighting ability.
Even though they generally like being in their human shape just fine, some people mistake them for Werewolves when appearing to them like this. It is an unfortunate fate for the race, many of them spend more time than they would like in their quadruped Wolf shape to avoid causing such alarm to people they come across, while some don't mind being in that form at all.
They like to be around people quite a lot, so as a result, there may some Wolves seen around that are actually beings of the Ferfnir race, doing what they must to be accepted by people and fit in better.
Depending on the environment one grows up in, they may or may not have any spiritual beliefs. While most do not, those who are around people very much, particularly a community of people that go to a church in their area.
Sometimes when, due to circumstances, they must be around a certain person or group of people, some or all of which think they are a Werewolf, they may just go with it and not explain their race to them, while some will.
Gender: Male
Age: 20.
The average lifespan for a Ferfnir is 100 years: The equivalent of an 80 year old human and a 20 year old Wolf. The longest one has been known to have lived is 119 years, this being exceptionally old, and considerably weaker.
Though they have most of their strength up until around the age of 85, then age takes a more noticeable toll on them as they get into their late 80's and 90's of age.
When a Ferfnir exceeds the age of 100 by much, well, they're basically just good for companionship, getting into any fights at such old age would highly likely result in the death of itself.
Appearance / Attire / Armour:
Humanoid Form:
His height is 6'0, weight is 210 pounds. Crimson Wolf, like most of his race, prefers to be in his Humanoid Form. He has a fairly muscular body, though it would normally not be too noticeable for all the fur a Ferfnir has, his superior strength is apparent, and he doesn't attempt to cover up his entire body to hide it.
Overall appearance, for the most part, is the same as that of a Wolf, as any Ferfnir's is. In his Humanoid Form, he usually walks on two legs, though in either this form or his Feral Form, he must run on all four legs to run at his top speed.
His eye color is yellow, nose is black, fur is quite long, and primarily black in color, but has some crimson colored fur of unusual markings across the left side of his face, torso, low in particular, and a more diamond-shaped than round-shaped vertical infinity symbol on the center of his back. Some very important markings are on his tail. There is also crimson colored fur along the sides of the tail.
He wears a long, sleek black and silver coat, open, and a pair of sweat pants that are all black, and fit him loosely, so he uses a brown belt with a silver belt buckle to keep it held up well.
He never wears shoes, partly due to the problem of not being able to acquire any that will fit, though he never really looked much, because it is also his preference, feeling more free without any to be trying to walk awkwardly in with his paws.
Only wears his light weight clothing as opposed to armour, he never wears armour, be it considered light armour or heavy armour, one time that he tried it, he disliked the restricted movement greatly, he values his kin's natural capabilities highly, and has no intention to negatively impact his mobility with heavy armours.
In his normal Wolf shape (Feral Form):
He is basically a Black Wolf, but due to the odd, crimson colored fur on him, he calls himself Crimson Wolf.
Other than not wearing any of the clothes he does in his Humanoid Form, just having a couple of patches of crimson colored fur instead of markings, and his actual shape being the same as that of any Wolf, he maintains the same overall appearance otherwise, black fur all over everywhere other than the two areas, being across the left side of the face, now covering the front of the ear as well, and at the end of the tail, that have red fur.
But as a result of the shape change differences, his height and weight are altered, and become more like that of a regular, quadruped Wolf's. Height: 3'0. Weight: 140 pounds.
When shifting to this shape, it may seem odd going from having strange, inexplicable markings, to the area just becoming all crimson colored fur across the one side of the face, with no pattern to it, or on his tail, but the markings only appear in his true form, his Humanoid Form, of which he was born into.
Personality: Crimson Wolf generally has a cool, laid back personality, and is very tame and approachable. There are two sensitive subjects for him though; his past, and any serious reasoning to fear for his sister's life, he is very protective of her, since he learned of her existence then met her.
He would from time to time get scolded by the others in the Wolf pack (details in History), but he would just apologize then move on from it.
When he is alone and bored, he may sometimes play with his tail when he is not very tired and suddenly in a playful mood (only if in Wolf shape, however), while other times he will look up at the stars and the moon in the sky at night.
If alone, bored, and tired, he will simply go to sleep. Strangely, when in his human-like shape, he prefers to sleep lying facing down. This is most likely just to avoid laying on his tail, since every once in a while, when he is sitting down somewhere late at night, he sometimes nods off, shortly after falling back and landing on his tail, which would cause it to sting a bit for a while.
As for his level of tolerance, if someone were to accidentally trip and spill water on him, but then apologizes, he wouldn't really let it bother him, just say something along the lines of
"It's nothing, don't worry about it. But now I'm all wet...if you'll excuse me, I have to go get dried off..."
Even though his fur is of dark colors, and he wears dark colored clothing, he isn't the least bit sinister, and is strongly against the killing of the innocent, and despises criminals, but even them he will not always just attack mercilessly, but bring them to justice rather than to their graves.
As for someone killing another in self defense, the other brought it upon them self when they went looking to pick trouble, just a matter of time before they pick on the wrong person and get what they have coming to them. Sounds cruel, but such is life.
Though he tries to be unnoticed doing this, if he knows there will a tough fight just ahead of him or a series of fights, he will go aside and think back on the more harsh experiences from his past to intentionally shed tears, he will be able to fight better after getting this out of his system, an odd but indeed a useful, not meaningless course of action to take as a battle preparation from time to time.
If someone sees him doing this, they may not understand how doing this gives him strength. But one would have to see his face to tell he is being emotional, as he always has his eyes closed during this, and is silent, so someone would have to see at least a tear trickle down his furry face to be able to tell if he is doing this.
First Impression: Some people may be a bit intimidated by his dark appearance (especially when in his human shape), though he is not of evil alignment, but good, and only will attack those he is sure are evil doers, never any innocent civilians.
He isn't rejective towards most unfamiliar faces that approach him to talk, unless he is positive the person is up to no good, if they give off some bad vibe, but he generally won't just judge anybody at a glance.
Strength: Crimson Wolf's body is quite compact, there is a lot of muscle, but doesn't cause for much bulk, but by no means very slender in shape, though despite his strength, he can't really lift any large all around objects, though he can carry something in his mouth, and anything small enough to fit easily being light enough to handle.
For fighting he must get in close to the target to tear and thrash at the opponent with his teeth, and with his sharp claws slashing with formidable force, average damage is 160 out of 600.
Vitality: He has a tough, solid body under his fur, so he is able to withstand most attacks quite well, both physical and magical, but slightly better at enduring physical attacks.
A solid physical attack may damage 115 out of 600, only very well landed attacks dealing all of that, being difficult as Crimson Wolf has impressive speed and agility to back up his strength and stamina.
Magic attacks, while not as strongly resisted and may deal more damage, still won't be devastating at 135 out of 600, but could make up for not fully connected physical attacks on him that fail to hit for as much damage as they could potentially.
Speed: Having superior capabilities to an ordinary Wolf, he can run at a very high top speed when going all out. He can run up to 81 kph (50 mph) in his attire.
Without this additional weight he is able to reach a top speed of 89 kmh (55 mph), but he is more often than not in his human shape, with the clothes on (though he never wears the clothing while in his normal Wolf shape, for obvious reasons). And again, he must run on all four legs to reach top speed, whichever shape he is in.
Stamina: Though he walks in populated areas normally, he will sometimes go to a large, open area to run at high speed for good lengths of time, to build and maintain leg strength to improve movement capabilities and stamina. Crimson Wolf is able to run fast for a good hour, then he'll feel some fatigue and require a brief time to recover.
Upper body was naturally stronger from a very early age, but after being out for long runs for years, upper and lower body strength are quite well balanced, since upper body strength isn't able to easily be strengthened, not being able to grip any good to weight lift, however his ability to take hits without his strength in battle wavering, so he is able to fight hard in even the toughest battles for 15 minutes before needing a quick rest.
Reflexes: When fighting, Crimson Wolf is very alert, and stays aware of his surroundings, so he'll often be able to spot an incoming arrow or other projectile traveling at a similar speed, and can swiftly dodge them by jumping sideways out of the way of the projectile's path.
Actual sidestepping speed is not overly fast, but a quick sideways jump left or right covers a good yard of distance very quickly, most effective for evading direct attacks the moment before they make contact, the best course of action to follow up this evasive move with is an attack, this makes for good evade and counter tactics.
Similarly, a quick dash backwards, though slightly less ground covered than the quick jumps to a side, but still nearly a yard of distance covered, are effective for moving just out of range of a ranged attack, while not spacing himself too much more from his opponent. He must get close to the target to deal damage, so spacing is crucial for him, spacing himself only so much for certain attacks, trying to stay in as close as possible, pressuring the enemy with fast, steady, strong attacks.
If the opponent is the one to go to strike first, he'll often start to pick up on if the target is going to end up starting a fight by a change of emotion, then prepares himself to evade a sudden first strike to pick a fight, so he often will be the first to actually land a hit, it is unlikely for an opponent to successfully land a first strike on him.
Fighting Style: Crimson Wolf fights with honor, and doesn't show cowardice. His tactics focus a great deal on Evade and Counter, other times he may just relentlessly thrash and bite into the foe and overwhelm it with speedy strikes, with plenty of evasive action in a lot of his fights.
Style is Hunter, consisting of mighty claw swipes and lunging bites, and is good at stealth, which is useful inside and outside of a fight, also fast and agile. Fast movement and stealth won't go together very well, effective sneaking will require slower, more careful steps, causing minimal noise to reduce the Hunter's chance of getting detected, causing a pre-emptive strike on an enemy to be easier.
He also has an unusual ability to effectively turn some strong emotions he feels into strength in a battle, this is called Emotion Channeling.
Sadness can improve his overall fighting ability during battle to increase effectiveness all-round. Anger, when very strong, can be the most powerful form of strength. This specifically effects physical strength, more significantly than sadness, as it concentrates on more all-round stability.
Fear however is an emotion that he cannot channel into power of any form, it is a deep emotion that he will only feel when his sister Sophia's life is in grave danger under some circumstance, when he fears for her life, thinking of losing her, after what happened in the past, will always end up in tears, as she is the only family he has left.
Weapons: Unable to hold weapons, so none are used, just his own claws and teeth.
Abilities: Howl. Though not used often, this briefly unleashes the full power of the Wolf within, causing for a significant power boost (about 25%) for 100 seconds. No visible changes to appearance, Howl increases Crimson Wolf's power by causing an adrenaline rush to generate even more damage with his attacks.
Spiral Cutter. A physical attack technique in which Crimson Wolf slashes at the target with his claws from the ground up, spinning at lightning fast speed as he rises, briefly leaving the ground to land a final, stronger attack to the head.
The series of hits leading up to the stronger, final attack of this adds up to make up 65% of the total damage, the last hit dealing 35% of it, altogether this damages for 180 out of 600.
Magic: Undoubtedly of the Wind Element, a Wind Spirit dwelling within him, granting unto him the power that it has to bestow, of controlling wind by his will.
Despite his element, is only weakness is the Fire Element, while he is stronger against Wind and Ice. Below are some specific techniques he can use from his Wind Spirit's power.
Aerial Guidance. Willing the wind to blast with enough force from the opposite direction of him than the direction he wishes to head, through the air. By doing this, continuously, he is practically able to fly.
Tornado. Crimson's most powerful and destructive technique. Due to it's strength and range, Crimson must focus energy some before he can execute this, and it exhausts him using the power to this extent.
Scattering Winds. This technique is an effective for pushing away targets from around an area. It can also be generated from Crimson's current location to create space between enemies and himself.
Other Skills: After extensive study of the human language, and use of it, he has gotten to be able to have even more persuasive skill than he naturally had, but still not like that of what one would consider a persuasive human.
History: Shortly after Crimson Wolf was born, while the parents were off to get some food for him, in their Wolf shape to move quickly and easily in their quadruped forms to kill something in the wild to bring back for him to eat, a hunter was in the area, and they were spotted and got shot down, then the hunter took their Wolf pelts.
Having never returned, Crimson Wolf began to worry for their safety, and after some days passed he became very hungry, then walked as best as he could, though still being very young, and didn't have much strength at that time, not enough to walk on two legs, though technically in his human shape, at his age it was that of an infant, though mind was already more developed.
He searched and searched for his parents, until eventually he found their bodies, stripped of all their fur, and had began to decompose, he was terrified by this sight, he knew they were dead, and it was clear a hunter was responsible for it.
Howling out mournfully, he knew he was now alone, without any family, or any friends. After some time of this, a pack of Wolves heard this and came, and witnessed what must have happened.
They felt for him, so they took him into the pack and looked after him for years to come, seeing as he had no one left to take care of him while he is growing up.
But it wasn't very long before they all realized he was much different from them, when he grew strong enough to be able to walk on two legs, but Crimson Wolf explained what his race is as his parents explained to him when they were still alive.
They understood it, he even demonstrated his change from his human shape to Wolf shape, once he grew large enough. He would almost always be in his Wolf shape so he would fit in with the pack better, but they knew his true shape, and he knew it, he was just glad they accepted him still.
The Wolf pack had always lived in fear of the hunters, but Crimson Wolf often strayed close to a fairly close by village, observing the behavior of the people there, studying some human behaviors.
However, from time to time the rest of the pack would scold him for being around the humans so much, that what if a hunter spots him one of the times, and he ends up leading him right to them, that the person would kill them all.
Though frightened by the mere thought of it, he responds that he can't help it, he can't help but be interested in humans, all the things they do, say, and use, but not fond of guns at all.
When he grew up to his full size, strength and maturity, he wanted to show his appreciation for the pack taking such good care of him through the years, so he told them he was going to speak with the people in the village, and try get them to agree to stop hunting the Wolves in the forest.
More on this character and Sophia's past can be read in the story I have been writing for them: Justice - Tales of Crimson Wolf
Wind Spirit: This special section is uniquely for Crimson Wolf, covering how it came to be that this would reside within him.
Curiosity of something very much turning out to be linked to it; the markings on his tail, he wondered if they meant anything for most of his life.
While traveling with a good friend; Clawd Viteren Stripe, on their travels, one time when they were about to exit a building in a village (lack of specifics intentional. <.<), he was approached by a wolf with some similar, but slightly different markings on him.
After a relatively short time of Crimson asking him questions, and him answering as he remembered more details of a place he saw those same markings, he said that it was in a temple in the middle of a valley to the south east.
As soon as his friend was ready, he traveled tirelessly until reaching the valley, then finally the aforementioned temple. Once inside, Crimson explored until he saw the marking on the floor, but then after noticing a stand in front of it with writing on it, and read it.
"He who bares the marking which matches that before you, step forth, and be embraced by the gentle caress of wind"
This is what it read, for the large markings on the stone floor in front of it that matched the markings on Crimson Wolf's tail.
Crimson Wolf walked onto the very center of the marking, stopping right on the dot, and then remained completely still, with his eyes closed, as he started to feel as if he was completely enveloped by wind.
Then, all at once, it felt as though part of that sensation became a part of him, inside of him, then suddenly it stopped. 'You have inherited the ability to control wind to aid you.' a voice spoke inside of Crimson Wolf's mind. [What was that?] 'I am a wind spirit, you have been chosen to control my power by your will. Use this wisely, Wolf.'
From that moment on, it was as the voice said. Though he had control of wind, overusing this power would weaken him faster and cause him to require a full rest for several hours before continuing on, otherwise going on while greatly fatigued.
Learning his limits of this as he goes on, he begins to find fair balance between making good use of it, while not tiring himself excessively. At least not more often than absolutely necessary.
