In my opinion, VII has had enough attention with spinoffs and movies. Seriously, give other FFs a chance. FFVI deserves to be remade before VII. And honestly it should not happen until SE gets back on the ball when it comes to making good FFs. Otherwise it's going to come out as a pile of shit and it will tarnish the memory of the original. Do FFVII fanboys really want that?

I really am tired of hearing FF fans whining for a remake. You know what I saw? Screw that. I don't want a damn FFVII remake....I want freaking VERSUS XIII.

Let's look to the future, not the past.

FF7 has had a lot of time in the spotlight since the start of the century in fact really since 97 because it's also had the gaming media praising it while FF8 and FF9 got ignored like they didn't exist.

I don't think it's really fair to complain when you've had so much attention on your game already when others have only had their one game and that's it. The gaming media doesn't even touch it or praise it. It's like it didn't even exist but just in your imagination.

SE needs to focus on the future and focus on making Versus and FF XV great. Make sure that the future games are great and remembered like FF VII was. How do you make another FF7 ? Do you add in another version of Cloud like Lightning Farron, a materia- like system and other FF7 elements ? No... you make another FF7 by making a another new and fresh game that has good characters, good story and good music. You don't make another good Final Fantasy by making Cloud Strife 2.0 and Sephiroth 2.0
They gave FF XIII FF7 like elements; did that work and do well ? No. Not in the slightest. With FF2 and FFX-2 it's one of the most hated FF games.


Give FF8 and FF9 a chance. FF13 has had a sequel that most of it's fans have enjoyed and FF10 also got a sequel and now a HD makeover, FF12 got a sequel too and Vaan and Penelo cameos in a Tactics game. FF11 gets updates every now and then; same with FF14. FF4 has got enough remakes and reboots to stink a ship and also a sequel.
What's FF9 and FF8 got ? Basically nothing. Same with FF6. Nothing. Nothing at all.
Even FF3 that never really got release outside of Japan has got a remake and now the remake is getting released on the PSP. FF1 and FF2 gets updates and makeovers every couple or so years.


FF9 didn't really close all it's doors. It gave us some answers.

Did Kuja survive, did he really die ? Did Vivi die as well ? Did Garnet become queen ? She threw her royal crown and jewelry away. Is Eiko the new princess of Lindblum ? Will Zidane got back to his old team or try and become a king with Garnet ? How long will Zidane, Vivi and Mikoto last with their created lifespans ?

Come on SE... give us these answers...

FF8 is creating tons of fan theories like is Squall dead throughout the whole game and is the world FF3 in the future ? Things like that. Also when is Laguna going to tell Squall the news of you know... ? And how will Squall cope with learning this news ? I also like the idea of a changed Seifer who is now mature [ about 21- 23] who has learnt from his lessons becoming a hero and becoming a knight in a good in positive way and saving the world.
Showing and teaching players that people can change and grow and the right and wrong way of achieving your dreams. It could be good.

I'm also tired of FF VII fans moaning for no remake because they're already got so much from their games and if you just happen to like FF5, FF6, FF8 and FF9 instead. You get nothing at all. Nothing. It's a bit annoying when they're received things like a anime, sequel and more and some fans have got nothing at all. It's like somebody who's rich and wealthy moaning that he hasn't got a more richer car when he already has 6 already good and decent cars in his garage while somebody who's poor can't even a afford a car and has to take the bus or bike in the snow and rain each day.

It's good news and in some ways disappointing and sad news. Do you all know that this is the 20th anniversary for FF5 ? Is Square- Enix planning to celebrate it ? No. No they're not. It's like FF V was never made at all.

Yet if it was the 20th anniversary of FF VII. SE would be making out articles to remind us how proud of the game they are and even a new game to celebrate or toys or other items.

Whenever somebody cries out that SE "sucks " because they haven't done a remake of FF VII yet I either get bitchy towards them or just say "... so " ?
Lets face it. SE gave birth to 13 children and FF7 is that son that is prefect in their eyes and they've given him the tickets to all the sports games, the X-Box, the extra food at dinner and always mention how 'wonderful ' FF7 to the other 12 kids.

SE needs to realize that some of their children are tens times better than the golden child and realize what potential they have and stop ignoring them.

Otherwise FF15 is just going to be FF7- 2 in disguise.

Edit- FF V got a anime but it doesn't really much in common with the game. It's a totally new FF anime if only a 1 per cent relation towards FF V in it. Hardly really a FF V spin off imo. It would saying be like Full Metal Alchemist is FF9 in the future and Zidane is Edward's grand-grand- grand- 20 x Grandfather.

To be honest I don't quite get the point of your point. So what if the other games and movies didn't look anything like FF7? I'm not sure why that means it deserves to be remade. FF7 is a classic and fans will like it as it is. FF7 is a way better game than any of it's spin offs even with the bad graphics. I really don't think the fact that the newer FF7 games look nothing like the original means that it should get a remake.

Also they're obviously not doing the remasters etc in order, otherwise X wouldn't be getting it's remaster now. So again, FFIX and FFVIII deserve some attention please.

It looks like theyre not even related. For example: Chain of memories was remade on ps2.
why? Well why not? Its a game that connects 1 and 2. And gba was nearly gone while ps2 held strong. Not every1 owned a gba anymore and not many were selling gba games. It had to bring upto speed and flashbacks werent gonna cut it.

This doesnt apply to just ff7, it applies to many other series too, and theyve done it!. And unfortunately, as it pains me to say this: no ff7 isnt much of a classic compared to 2D sprite era, not as appealing as ff8 and 9 when it comes to graphics. It simply doesnt age well and classics are best enjoyed when you played them during its time. Ff7 was a stepping stone but was mainly to get themselves making better games.

They put their all but at the time they had to settle for tiny 3D models and akward CGI. However the story was great and the gameplay was enjoyable, but the graphics are way below satisfactory. Scratch that, its more than just graphics its the way it was designed too.


So maybe we want a remake for a more consistent look thatg ff7 series has now. I say maybe because i cant speak for everyone else. All the other ff7 spin offs may have not been as fun but definitely attractive enough to enjoy and they are spin offs, so you cant expect the same qualities the original has.

All in all, ff7 remake may also introduce so-called ff7 fans and so called ff7 haters to FF7. No one has a ps1 anymore maybe a few who love ps1 or like playing old games. But now there might be a port to PC. Even then we know it could be better.

So why not an ff7 remake? Theres plenty of good reasons why. And yes i say ff7 deserves it. Or maybe not the word "deserve" but earned.


And remastering is even easier then remaking. However remakes have been given in a certain order. The only failed one was ff3. For ff7 it would be remake and redesigned compared to any other game that will ever be remade because lets face it. All games in ff with 2D will stay 2D with maybe cinematic scenes. But then again ff3 and 4 have 3D. So who knows. Maybe they all will get 3D.

That probably won't happen within the next 2-5+ years.

XIII-2 and recent titles only sold something like 2 million copies. Interest and brand name attraction are rapidly diminishing.

Is it so wrong to want a remake? The only promising game is ff versus 13. Ff xv isnt in development and yet we hope for it. I say one game at a time. yes i would like an ff7 and ff8 and ff9 remake. 10? I say revolutionary and very fun. However since then it had not sparked more ideas. So at the least ff7 was more influential than ffx. However both are great games. I actually enjoy 10 more,, but the remake is unnecesary for that. Porting it and remastering it however? Thats different. Letting all those to know that ffx was an amazing game too.

I would like a remake of all that were in ps1. Im not against remakes of other titles or current future titles. But i would like an ff7 remake eventually.

Maybe Sony should try for a console that is backwards compatible with PS1, PS2 and can also play PS3 games.

Most own a PS2 or PS3 and backwards compatibility has never been a strong feature, unfortunately.

I don't mean updated ports like the 3DS release - I mean a full remake that will make the game look like that delectable tech demo that was showcased for the Wii U a year ago. For FFVII - I'll be fine if they just release it on Steam and let modders have a field day with it.

I have a fantastic idea. It's a radical idea and it may be unfathomable, but how about - let's not remake anything? Not FFVII, not FFIX, not even FFVI. It's a ridiculous idea, I know.

Oh, and if anyone took issue with that amusing image I put up earlier about FFVII being like FFVI, it's just an image I pulled from a Siliconera commentator and not my own work. I think it's meant to be more of a humorous thing rather than anything you're supposed to take seriously. Final Fantasy as a series uses a lot of familiar tropes anyway, so I bet anyone can do something similar with FFIX and FFVII for instance.

I will agree that I am getting sick of hearing about remakes, honestly I don't want anymore remakes of any FF games for years. Heck minus FFIV which was remade on the DS (and I guess III since that never left Japan till it went to the DS), most of the games were just ported with a little bit more updated graphics. When I-VI (minus III of course)were ported to PS and then the GBA they only really updated the graphics a little, didn't bother trying to remake the whole game into 3D. So why should they do it to FFVII? or any of the other FF games while were at it?

They gave them a port to the PS3 so people could play them that never did. Which is more than enough to me (IMO) anyone that wants a remake to see what this game well look like, go play the beginning of FFXIII .

They do. However, most of them aren't as batshit insane over the concept like fans of FFVII can be over it. In fact, a lot of them are rather nice people. The Zelda forum I frequent is filled with pretty cool dudes. Everyone's quite laid back and the debate section, for the most part, is filled with constructive posts and little stupidity. I miss that place. I mean, don't get me wrong, Zelda fans can still get a little apeshit over OoT. However, quite a few of them would rather see a remake of Majora's Mask. They're actually rather level headed about it.
