The Tale of the Forgotten
A balance is broken, what once kept the balance is now disturbed. An ancient race of people know as the Kailal are destroyed, except for one. He is the lone survivor of his people, the only one left with the knowledge to bring back the balance. He is Vex the last warrior of his people, through his veins flows the blood of the Kailal and so with it its responsibility. He must travel the world in an effort to find the eight gems which act as the binding force for the world. Once found and brought together balance will be brought back to the world and good and evil will once again balance one another out. There is a problem though, a being know as the dark one knows of the kailal it was he who whiped them out. Now he along with his army seeks the gems out in attempt to bring the world to darkness. This was one-hundred years ago now it’s the present, and knowledge of the kailal has vanished. They are now only a fairy-tale that parents tell their children.

History:


The Dark One:

A being of immense power that controls an army of darkness. It is still unknown how he killed off the race of the Kailai, but legend says he may have once been one of them. He seeks to destroy all that is good, and plans to bring the entire world into utter darkness so he can control everything. It is also believed that he wields the power of the Dark gem.

Kailal:

A race long forgotten now in modern times. Only rumors of them remain and most are told in fairy-tales. They are a race of people almost as old as time itself. Legend hold they were people of immense magic power and were able to craft gems of immeasurable magic power as well. The same legend goes further to say that they were punished to a degree and were given a curse of immortality, but as to why no one knows. They simply vanished from the pages of history at one point and since then continued to dwindle into myth. Do some of the older ones still live among us in hiding, or do their descendants live among us trying to reclaim what is theirs?

Gonna be trying to reboot this again seeing as it did kickoff at one point in time, but then drama happened and it lost a lot of people. So for those that are interested welcome, but they are a few things you should know.

1. Please use proper grammar and type out your sentences fully. Do not use text speak or any variations of.

2. This can be a heavily geared towards character interaction RP at times, so if you feel like you can't interact with fellow RP'ers or are ones who would refuse as such don't sign up. No offense but there will be no room here for you or tolerance off it.

3. Respect your fellow RP'ers at all times. This means no powergaming your character where they can kill anything instantly or are always avoiding attacks from another player. On the same note there is no godmodding allowed either. So no taking control of another persons character unless they have given you explicit permission.

4. Perhaps the most important, this is an RP so please remember to have fun and enjoy your time in this.

At this point, I'm still considering possibilities for a character... But I wanted to know, what sort of person is the Dark One? Is he some human-turned-Dark One? His appearance, is he a humanoid mass of shadows or something?

If a character were to side with the Dark One, would it be with a cult or something? What's the situation in the RP's universe at the moment, are kingdoms warring, or perhaps, has the Dark One waged war? Is Vex going to, or has he already, began his journey for the Gems? There are several locations, are they going to be in support of the Dark One or Vex?

I was also thinking since you said this would be heavily reliant on character interaction, that perhaps I could create a character who's completely combat unfit but who can support the other characters in other ways (medical, psychological, etc.). Okay some of your question I can answer and some I can't per plot points. As to what the Dark One is, yes he is human but beyond that can't say anything for plot purposes. However he does have his own army and is building it. Most don't know what it's purpose is though. As for joining his side no it won't be a cult, those who would join him would be in a bit more militaristic command of his forces. The individual cities themselves are not at war with each other but most due have their own problems. Again some of these are for plot purposes. Besides the one he has Vex yes is on a quest to find the gems that are hidden. My profile with him is unique in that he is made after the events of the RP unfold so in a sense this is also a story of him coming into being. As for who the towns support since the world is not in full out war and they do not know of Vex that would not be in support of him. Also unless a commander of the Dark One resides in said town he holds no influence as well except in Helane.

As for interaction I meant all around. So conversations interaction with environment etc. If you want to make a pure support character prepare for a rough ride cause there will be combat. Not saying it needs to be combat oriented, but if it lacks any small basic combat style you may find yourself hindered. And by small I mean being able to wield your weapon of choice and being able to fend off a monster say a wolf. I hope that answers your questions at Mikasa

He also wears brown leather wrist guards and brown workers boots.


He carries a small notebook with him at all times to chronical the adventures of the people he travels with.


Weapons and Armor:


armor: Damian wears no armor beyond his regular attire. He prefers to have free movement to the extra weight.

Saber- It has a leather wrapped handle and a golden hand guard that goes from the base of the blade to the base of the handle. The blade is an inch wide and two and a half feet long.




skills/magic:
Note: all magic comes from sheer force of will. No words are spoken, but using his abilities drains his energy making him tire at a quicker pace.


Fire sword-covers blade of saber with fire. when swung the blade throws the fire in a stream up to 4 feet from the tip of the weapon like a whip. This effect lasts for 10 minutes or until the sword is sheathed. He can increase the intensity of the flame by putting more energy into it.


Shield- He can extend his arm to place up a magic barrier in direction that can stop both magic and physical forces. requires concentration to keep up and drains him of energy, even more so when force is applied to the barrier. He can hold a shield up for 20 minutes before he is completely drained if no pressure is applied to it.


Healing flame- His hand burns white with a cool flame that can heal most wounds without leaving scars. He needs to touch the wound with his burning hand to heal. This requires great concentration so it is only used when it is safe. If an injury is caused by some abnormal property, like a curse of some sort, the healing can greatly drain him.


Nova form- basically his most powerful spell. He is completely shrouded in a white hot flame. The transformation heals his wounds, and makes him so hot that he melts the dirt he steps on into glass. He has no control when it comes to activating it. It happens only in his most desperate moments. Lasts for 5 min. When it is done Damian is completely drained of energy and passes out.


Spiritual acuteness- He can sense the presence of elemental spirits and strong sources of elemental power. This can cause him to sometimes become overwhelmed by a powerful spiritual presence.


Personality:
Damian is a charming young man who is friendly and has a deep sense of chivalry. He is friendly to most anyone, unless he has witnessed someone performing an injustice. He is very brave and selfless, and hard to anger except when a woman is put in disgrace. Honorable no matter how nasty things get. He wish no harm to those that he meets, but has a thirst for adventure. He is curious about new things and places. He is very trusting, even to those that have betrayed him. He holds no grudges and works to bring an end to any conflict. He is a very honest man with little fear and heavy determination.


First Impression:
He seems kind and gentle. Damian is an easy person for most to get along with. He comes out as trustworthy so many immediately feel comfortable around him. He acts so polite that people some people do not trust him or find him overly arrogant. Since he is often found smiling, some have thought of him as being stupid. He is welcoming to everything and everyone.








Fighting style: Damian mixes Sword play and magic. Since he has only basic knowledge of the two, he does not perform well when trying to use one without the other in battle. He uses his Fire sword in order to keep on the offensive. Most of his attacks are angled slashes aimed at the torso of hits opponent. he does not force his weapon on a successful block, but instead pulls it for another attack.If he finds himself overwhelming his opponent he will step back and allow that person to either recover or surrender.


story:
In the beginning there was only Chaos. From Chaos came Light and Dark, and from Light and Dark came the four elements. Thus was how it happened long ago when two people were spat up out of oblivion itself. The man had power over shadows and the woman could control light itself. Their abilities made them into outcasts in their home villages and both were eventually driven out.
They both wandered aimlessly around the world, mysteriously un-aged by the centuries that passed. Both worked to prevent the world from slipping back into the chaos from which it was born. Finally, they met on a battlefield of a war which they both were working to end.
When there was finally peace in the world, they were married. Together they had four children: Gaia, Pyro, Aero, and Tempest. They were quadruplets, each an embodiment of a different element. But Masters of shadow and light knew that for balance to be maintained in the world, these children must be separated.
It pained them to send their children away as mere infants, but it had to be done. They sent one of their sons, Pyro, down a river toward civilization. The other son, Tempest, was left with the family of a mercenary. Gaia was left in a forest, to fend for herself. Finally, Aero was left to become the daughter of a nobleman in a far city.


Damian Caulder's birthplace is unknown, but the family who raised him found him on the Arthus River. He was taken to their home in Arion where he was brought up to be a farm boy.
At the age of five, Damian began to wonder of into the city on his own. It was then that he met his first teacher Magi Jennon. for the short time Magi Jennon was in Arion, he would tell Damian about the art of magic. To Jennon's surprise, Damian listened and understood. When Jennon left he had promised Damian that when he returned that he would teach him much more.
As Damian waited for Jennon's return he began to speak to many adventurers that came through the City. He would follow them outside the city and watched them learning everything that they did. Some took their time to even teach him how to use different types of weapons. The weapon that he fancied most was the saber.
He was 10 years old when Jennon came back to the city. he had not forgotten his promise. It was at this time that Jennon discovered Damian's affinity for fire. Damian learned to wield the flame in a manner that suited him best. another trick Jennon taught him was to protect himself by using the art of magic.
From that day on he kept to a specific schedule. In the mornings he would help out on the farms. Around noon he would practice sword play and magic. It was during this time that he learned to combine the two into a formidable fighting style.
When he was twenty he decided that it was time for him to leave Arion and travel the world.
 
Welcome aboard again DKnight glad to have two of the people along that helped take this so far last time.
 
I was half tempted to use a new character for this one, but Damian just felt like the right choice. Hopefully we can keep this one going all the way through.
 
Yes would be nice to see it to completion this time. Just waiting on two to three more people who seemed interested and maybe a fourth, after they get their bios in we can get the ball rolling.
 
more along the lines of ancient as there is no overwhelming technology like computers and cars, though you have the use of magic and the like. But there is enough where some modern day weapons like pistols and other basic firearms can be found. So more along the lines of pre-colonial/western era.
 
No that's just the technology level, setting is more ancient mid evil times.

Weapon: Shyillen Knuckles- These indestructible knuckles are normal knuckles with certain magical stones called Shyillen embedded into it. Shyillen is most known for being the most durable in a combat situation for mages. While Eile wears the knuckles, she can perform magic with each hand instead of her demonic hand.

Skills/magic:
Note: The magic can be infused into the knuckles for additional effects. These effects changes per element and if infused when Eile takes in another element, previous element is removed. Effects is as follows:
Fire = Explosive knock back for both enemy and Eile upon physical attack contact.
Ice = Mild Frostbite on the enemy on contact.
Lightning = Electrical Projectile with each physical attack.
Darkness: Shadow Strike for Eile: A second physical attack hidden in the shadows of the first attack.

Shadow Drive: Eile surrounds herself with the powers of Darkness to provide limited teleport ability.
Pulse Lightning : Eile summons orbs of Lightning that can be shot. It explodes on contact with a small area of effect.
Flame Burst: Eile summons several large pillar of fire from her hands that can be directed.
Hail storm: Summons a blast of frigid cold wind and moderate size permafrost ice to strike the enemy.
Infusion: After this skill is used, Eile's next magical attack will be absorbed into the knuckles for additional effects. (stated above under notes).
Dual Cast: After using this skill, the next magical attack will be followed by another magical attack.
Healing: Eile can heal any wounds on herself or others by hyper accelerating the adrenal-glands to close the wounds. Can't be Infused or Dual Cast.

Personality: Eile's personality can be boiled down into three simple words. Curious, Adventurous, Relaxed. Eile is naturally curious. She loves to find out how things work, locate the next landmark and such. This is easy for many to see since she likes to explore as well. The thirst for adventures never stops and Eile wants to keep exploring the world. When people get to know her, she is relax. She never lets many things bother her, which is a good thing since going on adventures can bring all sorts of headaches and to other people who could be nervous about meeting another person.

First Impression: One look at Eile shows a relaxed sort of confidence that hides behind the looks of confidence.

Fighting style: Eile's fighting style is a hybrid of a brawler and a Sorcerer. Given enough space and people to defend her, Eile can call in powerful magic to decimate her foes. If the enemy manages to get close to her, she can absorb a magical attack to aid her with fighting in close quarters combat. She is fairly proficient in melee combat and will not hesitate if she has to.

History: Eile Kilen was born and raised in the volcano mining town of Kelithzon. From an early age as the daughter of Remilia and Kiaser Kilen and sister to Emil Kilen, the foxgirl was taught the ways of the jeweler which was common in her family line for generations. The females became jewelers while the males became miners to support the business. It was a decent way of life and one that any normal family member of the Kilen could get used to. Eile was not normal. At the age of five, Eile started wandering around town. She enjoyed taking in the sight of her own hometown which quickly became routine. She would wander off, the townfolk would keep an eye on her while letting one the the three family members know where she is before they find her and drag her back to their place. This kept going until a routine walk at the age of ten.

Eile was exploring one of the abandoned mine shaft when she saw an unfamiliar person in the shaft mining a mysterious material out from the earth. Eile kept watch from afar as the person mined the material up and took a look at it. To Eile, it was the shiniest thing that she has ever saw. The person turned to spot her standing there. The mysterious person smiled as she lowered her hood.

"Hello there sweetie. Are you lost?" she asked.

Eile shook her head, walking up to her as she introduced herself to the woman and asked her name. The woman only replied that she was "The Sorcerer."

After talking for a bit, Eile asked about the stone that The Sorceret had dug up. The Sorcerer showed the mysterious gem to Eile. Eile went to touch the stone and in the instant, powerful magic shot through the stone and into Eile's right arm, causing it to turn black with her veins shining brightly through the transformed arm, knocking Eile out. The Sorcerer was astonished at the transformation and quickly put the stone away before carrying Eile out of the mineshaft. As soon as she got Eile out of the mines, she ran to the first person she saw and soon enough, the Kilen Family rushed to Eile's side as they saw her arm. The Sorcerer explained what happened before Eile's arm transformed and vowed to look for a way to reverse the effects on Eile's arm. But in exchange, she wanted Eile to work for her. After a brief argument, Kiaser and Remilia agreed. It was at this point Eile woke up. After being told about the arrangement, Eile nodded with a smile.

A few days afterwards, The Sorcerer was busy working with the mysterious gemstone while Eile was in the kitchen. Bored of cleaning the dishes, Eile muttered that she wished she could just rest for a bit with just a walk. As she said that, her cursed arm flared as wind started gusting around her. The Sorcerer, hearing the commotion, ran to the Kitchen and saw the shadows coming from every which way and surrounding Eile before settling. Eile turned and saw The Sorcerer there, wide-eye. Eile took a step to try and calm her down but instead, the shadows opened and Eile unknowingly walked through it, appearing right behind The Sorcerer. Eile was stunned at that. It was then that the Sorcerer had an idea on what happened to Eile's arm. She quickly told Eile about magic and that the stone somehow empowered her with magical abilities. She then concluded to telling Eile that she would teach her magic and the art of combat as an act of caution in case Eile inadvertently summon something from the netherworld. Eile agreed and after telling the family, spent the next seven years studying with the Sorcerer.

During that time, The Sorcerer found out a liquid solution to at least restrict the stone's ability to infuse a person with magic. It was also during that time that the stone was called Shryillen due to it being unnaturally shiny after being unearthed. It was at that time, The Sorcerer finished her last lesson with Eile. The Sorcerer spoke with Remilia and Kiaser and told them that the best thing for Eile is to let her explore and find more knowledge about the Shyillen in case someone else had found it and figured more things about the stone and a possible cure for Eile's arm. The two parents nodded and that night told Eile that she has to go explore the world to find a way to reverse the transformation on her arm. The town was alive that night as everyone wanted to wish Eile good luck and to send her off with smiles. The next morning, everyone was out in front of town as they watched Eile. Everyone wished Eile good luck as The Sorcerer stepped forward and presented Eile with a gift. It was a set of Knuckles that The Sorcerer used to use. But it was modified to hold a pair of Shyillen gems in it. Eile accepted it. With the weapon and wishes on her, Eile set out to explore the world up to her current age of 18.

I had this idea for an arab/asian-like bandit or royal brat who leaves his kingdom to seek fame and glory as well as see the world beyond the kingdom of his orign. But I need to go more into detail with the story to fit in accordingly.
 
Ahh okay then, I don't see a problem with that.

Absolutely stern and serious, Erica is a no-jokes person who lives by a self-imposed Code. So fiercely and veracious is she in upholding the Code that she would not hesitate to punish anyone who comes remotely close to insulting it let alone violate it. Much of her interpersonal interactions are influenced by the Code, which has led many to consider her taciturn, and difficult to get along with.

Ornamented Blade: "Wind"

Overall Length: 38.5″
Blade Length: 29.75″
Weight: 1.75 lbs
Blade: Flexible and blunt

The blade has stylized dragon motifs inscribed on it. An especially sharp weapon, but despite being so, is unable to slash through most well-crafted armour unless its edge is sharpened via Erica's other abilities. As a piercing weapon, it provides decent penetrative capabilities but it is not the most practical usage of the weapon in most circumstances. Erica rarely brings this weapon along, taking it with her only when there is no need for stealth.


Daggers

Erica's weapon of choice for stealth missions. She does not own any specific dagger, preferring to procure her weapons directly at the mission locations. Unlike with "Wind", she is unable to sharpen the weapon via her ability.


Abilities

Magical Aura
Unlike conventional magic which can be categorized into specific element-types, Erica's brand of magic is either an amalgam of the elements or non-elemental in nature. It is something left open to debate but as a result of this characteristic, it is not more effective on any other element nor is it particularly weak to any elements.


Magical Enchantment: Sharpening
Sharpens "Wind" to allow it to slice through most metal with greater ease. On naked flesh, merely touching the edge is enough to inflict a superficial cut. Enchantment is invoked with a strong gust of wind and a faint glow on the blade.


Magic: Peak Efficiency
Enhances Erica's physical strength, endurance and speed to maximal levels, allowing her to sustain peak performance for an extended period of time at the expense of collective fatigue set-in when the spell wears off. The spell very easily invoked and is barely noticeable to someone not in the know about her abilities. Can be invoked repeatedly but the sensations of pain and weakness is carried over and sustained for the entire duration of the spell.


Magic: First-Aid
Heals superficial wounds and restores a small amount of stamina. A low-cost variant of a stronger Heal spell which can be used repeatedly in conjunction with Peak Efficiency to prolong the usage of the latter spell without having to endure the fatigue. Often mistaken by enemies as a form of regenerative ability due to the ease and subtlety of the spell's invocation.


Magic: Fade Away
When near a shadow or in darkness, Erica can turn invisible by blending into the darkness. There is at least a 2 seconds delay before Erica is completely invisible, and the cover of invisibility is broken as soon as Erica steps into light (excepting moonlight).


Expert Combatant
There is no better teacher than experience. Erica, in her many years of combat, has developed an understanding about the intricacies of combat and strategical planning enough to help her survive countless battles against uneven odds.


Physical Aptitude
With numerous years of battles under her belt, she built up commendable physical stamina and endurance allowing her to last longer than an average warrior in battle - more so when combined with her other abilities. She is also a skilled free-runner and especially dexterous.


Fighting Style

Unlike some other warriors, Erica does not have any significantly powerful abilities that could turn the tables in direct 1 on 1 combat. Relying on her years of combat experience and many near-death encounters, she eventually came to realize that the element of surprise was the only reliable factor that she could trust.

As such, her fighting style largely emphasizes that. Very much so that it would not be accurate to call most of her battles "battles", per se. Erica always strives to end her opponent in the swiftest way she can manage. If a protracted battle is inevitable, she will try to surprise the opponent by using her environment to her advantage (with her ability to fade away). Should that fail as well, she is not averse to making strategical retreats to await a better opportunity.

For the most part, Erica will only fight openly without choosing to retreat when challenged to an honourable duel. In such cases, and given the nature of her abilities, she fights purely relying on her swordsmanship and some amount of magic to sustain her peak physical performance.



History
For one so disciplined and refined, it seems counter-intuitive to think that Erica would be low-born. Alas, but such is the vicissitudes of fate. Born of lowly commoner parents, harshly treated by their kith and kin and scorned by the nobility, Erica would grow to resent her status. But she was young, and she was naive. As with most common girl her age, she had dreams. Dreams of a day her knight in shining armour would descend from the sky, to take her hand, save her from bitter reality. Ridiculous dreams cruelly shattered when the day came that their noble masters did not deign to keep her old parents. Having been kept and not released, she dreamt of a possibility that perhaps one of the many young masters of the Noble house would set his eyes upon her.

How frequent were the stories of how maidservants stepped into high society by virtue of consummation! But what was less often discussed were the stories of how the same protagonists were brutally "removed". A story she would almost create herself when she found herself exhausting the interest of the youngest master of the Noble house. Violently assaulted and left for dead, it seemed to be the end but she clung on to life by a bare thread. A thread of vengeful hatred and utter loathing, one which attracted the attention of a passing agent of the Dark One. Therefore, it was not with kindness and generosity that the agent saved her, but pure curiosity and like mindedness.

But Erica paid it no mind. From the agent, she learned her skills. Filled with hatred, she sought her kills. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned indeed! When the deed was done, the Noble house became her first sacrifice in the name of the Dark One. The agent even with his nature was repulsed by the unsightliness of her massacre. Yet he was pleased, a monster he discovered in its pool of blood, now restored to its gory splendour. A marvellous addition to the forces of the Dark One, for which he would be praised. And thus Erica "the Faithful" was born, her epithet a product of ironic humor.

Having served in countless years worth of battles, a veteran now, she continues to stay true to her Code. Stalwart, hardened, but still a dreamer.
