I would personally like to see a final fantasy in where all the characters use guns, bring back the turn based stuff and add some xcom/valkyria chronicles features for example cover without being a full on tactics games. As much as i love swords they begin to look goofy when a character attacks...

I agree about FFIX, i believe it is also pretty dark without trying to hard.
