You’re right that some NPCs appear and disappear. Having beaten the game around 14 times, I have a general idea of those NPCs and locations. I will keep this thread updated.

I am curious because to know every detail of the game is to truly comprehend its soul. Perhaps the number holds a key to something else. I am going to make it my mission to count every single NPC.

The canyons before you get to Wutai are an excellent area for grinding because you basically get 1-2 X-potions for every battle.
