Welp, I guess someone was being serious about a whole miniseries of games coming under the Final Fantasy XV umbrella. The Lightning Saga has yet to finish telling its story, and Square-Enix is already piecing together plans for Noctis's own saga.

The trademark "A World of the VERSUS Epic" has been filed and if you've religiously watched Final Fantasy XV's trailer, you'll find the tagline all too familiar. Have Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII signalled the start of a new norm as opposed to being blips? Looks like it.

NeoGAF, Gematsu

.... :ffs:

Can Square focus on ONE FF game at a time like they use to, instead of worrying about sequel, sequel, sequel! :rage:

Seriously, if this becomes FFXV-2 I will be more worried about FFXV than I was before.

Yes and it sucks. . I cant be positive about this. SE trolled me in tricking me to get a ps3 for Versus. . waited and waited and now FFVERSUS will be multiplat and on next gen only. . . while Im stuck with a FFXIII universe I never was interested in that has a sequal SE claims demand was high enough for (sales clearly indicated tht) and now a second sequal with only one playable shitty crossdressing char.

They are dumbing this shit down.

Movie, pokemon and cosplay. I cant imagine what damage they will do with this. It gives them many options and freedom. . . oh we cant put all this content in this game lets shove it to the sequal. . .

but you have to also considering who is thinking up the sequels. Tetsuya Nomura has had more experiences with sequels and usually, they come out pretty loyal to the original. Plus, i knew this was going to happen. their trying to bring out the most games they can without little work, so reusing the same game content wont be such a hassle for them.

Still, it wont mean this couldn't end badly.

They should remove 'Epic' in the title, the series has yet to be released and it is anything but 'Epic'. Unless it's a spinoff of that shitty film with Pitbull.

i personally thought it was. the large number of Iron Giants and Behemoths barely taking a hit.

but beside that, i don't think the word "Epic" is used literal, such as "Epic Fantasy" being a genre. sure the word "epic" alone may be subjective, but the that doesn't stop the genre from having it in there.

Yes, the word "epic" needs to be held off before the game actually comes out and is received by us fans, just like these spin-offs that they are already planning. The audience hasn't even received and judged the game yet and you're already predicting the future of it? I wish they would stop getting ahead of themselves. And with past FF's who have had their sequels and spin-offs...it makes me uneasy about how FFXV is going to turn out to be.

Actually, "epic" is also a noun with a specific meaning, not just an adjective in the usual connotative sense. But yeah, I can see where that can possibly backfire if FFXV is also heavily disliked by the fanbase.

So "A World of the VERSUS Epic" will be the LONG poetic chronicles of heroic adventures encapsulated as video games; video games that appear to borrow heavily from Shakespearean plays, namely Hamlet, and potentially Romeo and Juliet.

EDIT: Damn, this probably means I won't get a game set in the FFXV universe where I play as the villain. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Oh wow. This is pretty interesting. I honestly didn't think they'd seriously be considering sequels or prequels already. But hey, if it makes money, why not go for it? I mean, they couldn't wait until at least a bit after the first game comes out and THEN start thinking about others related to it? But... FTL. :hmmm:

I too wish they would quit their current butt fuckery of doing this sequel shit. Put all of your focus into 1 game and make it as epic as you possibly can. Stop with garbage DLC(this isn't Call of fucking Duty. So stop doing what they do.) and just bring out a game that's finally worthy of being called Final Fantasy. Ya know, the games we all grew up on?
