Square Enix has released official character bios for the main characters of Final Fantasy XV, which allows us to glean some insight into the game's plot.

First up, it transpires the main character of Noctis Lucis Caelum, or "Noct" as he's often referred to, suffered a childhood affliction that has left him able to see a heavenly light that enables him to sense others' deaths. Despite being the heir apparent to the throne of Lucis, Noctis rejects royal convention even to the point of being something of a renegade, though his loyalty to those around him is unquestionable.

Next, Gladiolus Amicitia is lord of the noble House Amicitia, which is sworn to protect the crown. Despite this, the bond between "Gladio" and Noctis goes deeper than simply being one of duty, but is instead one of friendship.

Ignis Scientia was raised to offer his unwavering voice of reason in counsel to Noctis. Weaned on shrewd logic and a classical education from youth, he and Noctis share a deep mutual understanding and trust built on years of familiarity.

Prompto Argentum is a mischievous playboy who knows Noctis from school. Being from outside the royal circle has left him with a chip on his shoulder, but he's still eager to help in any way he can.

Finally, Lord Commander Cor Leonis is a living legend, completely devoted to the king. Though he and Noctis' ragtag band of followers rarely see eye to eye, he is honour bound to protect them.

Additionally, accompanying text about the plot reads, "The only crystal left to the world lies in the Kingdom of Lucis. Upon striking a peace with the garrison state of Niflheim, Lucis rejoices in having at last brought the cold war to a close. Their celebrations, however, are premature. Under the guise of amity, Niflheim dispels the anti-armament runewall and launches a full-scale invasion of the kingdom. The peaceful lives Crown Prince Noctis and his entourage once knew are consumed by the flames of war as they struggle to mount a resistance."

Final Fantasy XV will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One though no release window has been set.

That...actually sounds a lot like a classic FF plot. I'm liking this!

The plot sounds better than the last one's they've come up with in recent years, I'll give them that. I like how everyone is coming together to help Noct and the usual save the world thing.

I already knew everyone was going to have their own specialties and whatnot, but this was a nice brief description of their backgrounds and how they tie into Noct's group.

I'm looking forward to this :ari:

We technically got most of this info when they introduced the characters. However starting a rebelion? This plot seems bigger than what we saw in trailers. It would be great to see more of the world.

The characters seem interesting enough, but I'd kind of like to see a few girls on the team as well. At least info on this game is finally coming out.

Considering how square enix has lost touch of female protagonists such as Lightning, Serah, and X-2 Yuna. Im glad their making a less female oriented ff game. Its not jumping in on the "lets have a playable female character" bandwagon.

This I have to agree with, not saying that having a female lead is bad, look at Terra in FFVI, but I feel like that with Serah and Yuna in X-2 at least... they were more for... "male entertainment"... which I think Square needs to get away from and go back to pleasing everyone...

The story overall though I feel like is a feeling of going back to a classic FF game, but at the same time, jumping forward to a whole new generation. Something I feel that XIII lacked was going back to a FF classic story, which I think was needed this generation.

FFXV as of right now.. (granted this game has been in the making for 7 years so it better have a good damn story by now...) Sounds like it will have a good classic FF story, and at the same time, jump forward to a whole new Final Fantasy story, from this reading at least.

Well then! That escalated quickly. It does seem like it's gonna be really good though. I agree with LukeLC when he says it sounds like a more classic FF type of plot, which is hella dope, yo. Can't wait to see more of the game! :) (It's also strangely making me want to play FFXII) :hmmm:

I know, I know. :( It just kinda sucks that there's a lack of ladies for that reason. It can't be that hard to write a girl without her being solely for male entertainment. Until then, I'm happy to hear about anything for this game. It does sound interesting!

At least there is more than 1 female character in ff15. I looked at previous trailer, there was this dragoon woman with white hair, so if my assumption is right, we will have at least 3 characters in the story.

Still type-0 revealed an incredibly large cast when rebranded as type-0. I think we just scratched the surface with ff15. Especially considering we have a plot now and it loooks nothing like what the trailer shows.
