I DEFEATED RUBY WEAPON BEFORE EMERALD WEAPON THUS MAKING THIS A MORE EFFICIENT STRATEGY. )Earth Harp Exploits Excluded)

Sephiroth-Sama Guide

How to Defeat Ruby Weapon
These Equipments are Important
1- 20 XPotions – Fully Heals HP
2- 30 Dazers – Causes the Weapon to stop. For about 3 Rounds
3- 2 MIME Commands – Yes I know its Hard. The best way to gain AP is if you equip a double growth Armor. For Example – Rune Armlet and level up in the hallway of Sunken Ship, if you fight 4 Bad Raps you will gain 560 AP
4- Hades Materia – You need to gain 2 Stars on This –
5- Knights of the Round Materia – You need to Gain 2 stars on This or More -
6- Final Attack + Pheonix or Life2 – It is impossible not Dying on your first try so this is a definite must
7- 20 Turbo Ethers – Steal these from the monsters at the Hallway – The Sunken Ship – Or You can buy them at 80 GP At Wonder Square.
8- W-Summon Materia is a Must
9- Bahamut Zero – If you do not have him it will definitely take a lot longer to kill him.
10- 3 Ribbons or 2 Ribbons – I defeated him using 2 Ribbons – Ribbon protects against all abnormal Status
11- Remedy – If one of your characters is not wearing ribbon
12- HP Plus – You Need 2 of these Mastered +100%
13- MP Plus – You Need 2 of these mastered a+ 100%
14- Double Cut 4x- Slashes Ruby 4 times a Row, this is definitely a must. My Cloud does 8,000 damage through critical. ( My Cloud has extremily High Luck 101 ;) )
15- Haste – You Definitely need to Speed up the game if you want to exploit your Hades Materia or Dazers.
16- Wall helps you a lot. I mean Ultima regularly does 7000 but with Wall it does about 4000.
Optional Equipments
  • MEGALIXIRS
  • ELIXIRS
  • Full Cure Materia
  • Elemental + Fire – Drains about 3000 HP From Ruby – A move called Ruby Fire
  • Double AP Growth Armor so you can gain 100,000 AP when you Defeat Ruby Weapon.
  • EnemySkill Materia – Ruby weapon has a strong Move called Shadow Flare. Which you can learn through Shadow Flare. [ Shadow Flare is also a move that One Winged Angel Uses ]

Basic Information on RUBY WEAPON
His Level is unknown

HP : ONE MILLION – 1,000000 –
MP – Infinite
Experience – 50,000
GIL – 50,000
AP – 50,000

Moves – When Ruby’s arms are not in the sand, he uses Whirl Wind
Whirl Wind- Swipes out one of your characters – He usually uses it 2 times which makes the battle a 1 vs 1. You Simply Don’t stand a chance

Ultima – Ruby only uses Ultima when he is extremely pissed off [ using Knights of the Round] . Ultima does Non-elemental damage which deals about 7000 hp damage to all of your characters

Shadow Flare – He does not use this as much. It attacks one of your characters and does about 7000+ Damage

Grand Sweep – A move that attacks all of your characters. ( It does 6,000+ Damage)

Ruby Ray – Ruby does about 3,000 damage to one ally and it also causes confusion

Ruby Fire – Causes Fire damage to one ally – It does about 3,000 damage

Ruby’s Arms – Annoying
HP – 45,000 to 50,000
Left Arm – Drains MP From a character. Usually random but it drains a lot. 700 MP , 200 MP , 345 MP etc.

Right Arm – This arm hits you but it never kills you alone. It’s like the demi move but a lot stronger. For example my health was 9999 this arm attacked me doing 9012 .
All I can say is this move never kills you alone but it takes 3.5/4 of your HP-

------------------------------

Strategy : First of All – Ruby Weapon is cheap, he sometimes attacks 3 times a row or more and he can easily kill you if you do not stop him or petrify him. Ok

How DO I BEAT RUBY WEAPON! : :
1.OK First of all Kill 2 of your characters before you encounter Ruby.

Explanation – The reason for killing two of your characters is so Ruby cannot use Whirl Wind in the first stages in the Fight.

2. After Ruby Puts his hands in the Ground Use Life 2 on Your 2nd Character and keep your 2nd character alive because the 2 arms will definitely do some damage.

3. Use Life2 on your third character and make sure he does not get gayed by the arms.

4.Cast haste and wall on Everyone.

5. W-Summon Knights of the Round + Hades
Explanation : Never Go Wild and caste 2 Knights of the Round because Ruby weapon will cast Ultima Every time ONE of your Knights of the Round is Finished. Hades Materia causes the Ultima to stop. This means that if your characters turn is finished and is trying to do his second knights of the Round Ruby weapon will be petrified and he would not use Ultima

  • Make your 2nd Character Mime #5’s Step ( Use the Mime Materia to summon number #5
  • Make your 3rd Character Mime #7’s step
  • Refer to #5
  • Make your 2nd Character Mime #5’s Step ( Use the Mime Materia to summon number #5
  • Make your 3rd Character Mime #7’s step
  • OK, about now Ruby Weapon will be back in his senses and he will use Ultima and his hands will try to you.
  • Caste wall again, Haste if you died the first time and use Xpotions + Megalixirs

Summary Now:
Ok I used Knights of the Round 6 Times and each Knights of the Round Attacks 12 times. If each Knights of the Round did 7,500 per one Knight, that would be 540,000 damage. Congratulations you are half-way through!!!

  • Use Dazers on Ruby Weapon so you can stop him for approximately 3 turns, On These Three turns Use Bahamut-Zero and make your other character mime It.
  • Do Step 14’s Process until Ruby is back on His senses and he will caste Ultima
  • Heal Your Party
  • Refer to Step 14
  • Refer to Step 16
  • Refer to step 14
  • Refer to Step 16
Summary Now :
Ok Since my Bahamut Zero was only 3 Stars, That means I could only summon him 3 times. Ok, Bahamut Zero does 9,999 damage and I can summon upto 6 Bahmut Zero in 3 Rounds. I Summoned Bahamut Zero 12 Times upon 6 Rounds and that did about 120,000 Damge

Ruby HP : ONE MILLION
Current HP – 340,000

Step : 21, All You can do now is let your Mime-less character use Dazers and let the 4x Cut character hack his way through ruby and the 2nd character should mime that. Remember to Always heal when you are hurt.

AND THAT’S IT!! BUY THIS TIME YOU WILL HAVE RUBY WEAPON DEFEATED HURRAY !!!

BTW, Barret’s Limit 4 Break does about 8,700 Damage – But His strength is 152, That is Physically Impossible if you do not use a lot of Power Sources I will teach you how to get Power Sources -

Here's how I did it:

First, let's recap on Ruby's Stats:

HP: NOT 1,000,000! It's only about 900,000
MP: INFINITE
Fave attacks: Right Tentacle, Left Tentacle, Whirlsand, Ultima, Ruby Flame, Sweep (forget the real name)

Now, tips:

Criteria

Megalixers - DO NOT GO INTO THIS BATTLE WITHOUT MEGALIXERS! You will get your ass handed to you on a silver platter, I kid you not. You should have at least 10 Megalixers OR have 3 Megalixers and a bunch of Elixers, Ethers, and Turbo Ethers. Ruby is most likely the most difficult battle in the game, so you really need to know your guys!

Knights of Round Materia - Never go into a WEAPON battle without a mastered Knights of Round. Ultima WEAPON could be debated with this, he's not exactly the most powerful guy, but it makes the battle easier. But anyways, back to Ruby: You need this thing for when he has his tentacles in the ground. He can't attack you with Ultima when he's got his little sad excuses for ***** in the ground, and this does a LOT of damage.

Mime Materia - Ok, it wasn't exactly essential for the Emerald Battle, but here it is. If you have the Master Materia (Command, Summon, and Magic) from when you beat Emerald here, EQUIP IT! This makes the battle a whole lot easier, and ensures limitless summons as long as your MP doesn't become limiting. Equipping an MP Absorb Materia with your Master Summon/KoR Materia would be a major boost.

Hades Materia - Okay, this is ESSENTIAL! You need it to [STOP] Ruby's tentacles. Ruby is basically invulnerable when their out of the ground, so this is essential to prevent them from affecting you.

Omnislash - Never leave home without it. This thing isn't extremely effective against Ruby, he has a monstrous defense, but it does help.

Pheonix Materia - This damages Ruby, and Revives (by use of Life2) all of your characters at once! This is invaluable in any battle, especially since it only costs 150 MP.

Party Criteria

Level 85+ Characters - Okay, if you do not have level 85 characters, do not enter this battle. Ruby is a hard hitter and is extremely cheap. You really need to have high level characters for this one.

Healer - This should be your main focus for all WEAPON battles, as all the WEAPONS (even Ultima) can faint or severely damage your characters. Ruby specializes in this with his tentacles, and can take away your MP very fast. His tentacles also cause varying status conditions, so make sure every single one of your guys has a Ribbon.

Heavy Attacker - Cloud should be your heavy attacker, especially with Omnislash and Ultima Weapon equipped. Nothing says "DIE YOU RED FREAK!" like a big purple sword cutting at your face (well, feet with Ruby, but you get the point).

Summoner - Okay, this is obvious, especially since you need KoR and Hades for this battle. I personally suggest Vincent for this. He's an awesome healer and summoner, with massive magic abilities.

Walkthrough

First, we save the game. That way, we don't screw up and have to do whatever you did all over again before facing Ruby.

Alright, before we go after the little ol' redhead stickin out of the sand, we gotta kill ourselves! Isn't that going to be fun.

Well, head out into the plains or grass near wherever you landed the Highwind, and start walking around. As soon as you get into a battle, target your guys with whoever you're using as a healer and kill your guys. Nooooo!!!! Cloud! I'll miss you, but see you again in a few minutes!

Now, go near the Highwind and heal your remaining character and save again. Believe me, it's really annoying to go around killing yourself again after dying from a great red thing!

Now, board the Highwind and fly into battle by slamming into the great red dick poking out of the sand. What's this? It's a head! And a body, and two huge triple fingered arms and columns for legs! Go figure?!

Now, you will get into the battle. This is why you had to kill your characters. Normally, if you came in with more than one character, Ruby would suck them away and leave you with one permanently, leaving you unable to revive them.

Ruby will now stick those great, grey sausages he calls digits into the ground and bring them up behind you. Now, use Life2-All to heal all your characters. Immediately after, have your summoner bring Hades out on the tentacles. It has a high possibility of causing the [STOP] status effect on them, and can do good damage too. Hell, it coud even poison them! Stop and poison all in one. Sweet.

Now, summon KoR on that nasty bastard that calls himself a WEAPON. Watch with glee as he flinches every time he gets hit, and cry out "Woohoo! Die you red jackass!" Well, unfortunately, it'll take a lot more than this to take him down. These things are never simple are they?

Well, have your characters (except your healer) Mime that on Ruby again. Sometime soon, the tentacles will return and start to deplete your health and MP. They attack really fast, and cause multiple status-inducing effects on you, and can be a real pain in the pitooty. This is where the Ribbon protects you, and prevents all status effects from occuring.

Well, cast Hades on those suckers again and start the KoR-Mime cycle on Ruby again. Have your healer use Cure3-All on your guys, or use a Megalixer if your health and MP are very low. They are extremely valuable in a battle like this.

This is fairly repetitive, though Ruby keeps it interesting. You never know when he's going to revive his tenties from [STOP] and start the whip-cycle again. However, if he retracts his fingers, DO NOT KNIGHT OF ROUND HIM! he will cast Ultima, which will result in extreme damage on your part, and will probably take down a couple characters. If you do lose a character or 2, cast Pheonix, which revives everyone instantly and deals 5000+ Fire Damage.

Well, keep up this cycle and use Megalixers/Turbo Ethers when you have to, and you'll eventually defeat him. It sounds easy, but it's not. This is debateably that hardest boss battle in the game, and you have to be on your guard.

Well, I plan to use you're guides as referrences when confronting Ruby. Thank you, the both of you who have provided excellent walkthroughs, both Hera Ledro and Sephiroth-Sama. That's all I have to say until I actually beat him.

yeah,SS's is good, but i put humour into mine :D
