and than we maybe know if Laguna is really the dad of Squall
in the game he gave a hint and maybe how Raine died
 
the one now is fine
but I don't think they will be making a prequal
to much work on XIII and other spin-offs
 
LOL I'm not a fan at all of FFVIII, but a prequel like this does sound pretty good. Laguna is cooler than Squall :P And the whole Sorceress war has always sounded pretty interesting.
 
A prequel would be cool, but i couldn't stand Ward for long...Theres not much logic in it but i would so much prefer a sequel with Rinoa or Irvine as the main character
 
Um, I don't think so. It would be kinda pointless since a lot of people finds the whole trio thing boring anyway. Also, they kind of did explain the whole friendship between the three anyway, as well as their journeys together. So yeah, they pretty much wrapped it up towards the mid-end of the game, including the sorceress stuff.

The whole point of the game is to not thoroughly explain everything though. Square wants their fans to think a little and make theories of their own. They'll hint some things, and it's up to us to figure things out. I like it that way, to be honest. If they make a prequel and explain everything, that would kinda ruin the game for me. I say just leave it how it is. =)


 
yup typhoon im with you 100% lagunas my favorute character in VIII and id love to see him in a prequel or sequel i dont care as long as its laguna
 
Nah mate, a DoC stylie spin-off for Irvine is blates the way forward. Group of rouge Galbadian Soldiers attempt to take over the worlds chain of Gentelmen's Clubs in order to control the world and it's up to Irvine to protect them.
 
I'm not sure if a prequal would make things slightly more confusing, really they should have made everything clear in the game so that this question didn't need to be asked.
I agree with your idea though :) I think some people would definately benefit from a prequal and I suppose it would be kinda cool to play as Kiros, Laguna and Ward. Who knows, maybe they're release a FFVIII-2 XD

These are soem intersting ideas,though its to late for them now :sad: If it were to be done,it should have been done back in the ps1 days with the same graphics as FFVIII and have pre-renderred backgrounds,it would just look so different if it were to appear on the PS3,which is a shame becasue thats the best sequel/prequel idea for FFVIII iver heard so far and as a die hard FFVIII fan who would usually just say no just leave it alone,look how they've milked FFVII,Im really impressed with the idea and would buy it

IF another installment was to be added to Final Fantasy VIII then it would definitely have to be a prequel would be most suited. However, I would rather they never did as I do not like sequels/prequels of any kind to the main FF series as the other sequels/prequels that have happen I like to "pretend" they never happened.
 
Hmmm...A'yo, I understand the fact that Square left the game the way it is for a reason, and I myself is a die hard FFVIII fan. But they did leave room for a killer prequal. And I think the idea would shed a lot of light on the story and character backgrounds and attract even more attention than previous titles of FF. I think it would probably be THE best.:cool:
 
I personally think a prequel where laguna, kiros and ward are the main characters, including at various stages in the game the flashbacks from ffviii would be very interesting
