Not so long ago My 9 year old sister saw me playing Dissidia Final Fantasy and started play it as well. She asked a lot of questions such as "Why does Squall seem sad all the time?" and "Is Golbez good or bad?"

I tried my best explaining to her, but of course it was hard... So I've been thinking to let her play a Final Fantasy from the main series, but which one?

I have VII to XII (but I only completed VII, X and XII). My personal favourite is XII, but I know that IX may interest her because of "kiddie graphics"... which one to choose?

(Or should I keep Final Fantasies AWAY from her? Because I know FFs consume lives, including mine :P)

Well, it seems she's interested in Final Fantasy :hmmm: I'd say let her choose though. I mean it's only fair if she wants to play VIII because she is so interested in Squall and whatnot I say what the hay :monster: She is only 9? I watched my dad play FF since I was wee little so, I didn't mind the "teenish" rating thing but it's up ta ya.

I'd suggest starting her off on the Crystal Chronicles series and going from there. They have the most "child-friendly" graphics, and are definetely easier than the main series. Get Echoes of Time on the DS and Wii and you could play it through together~

FFX might be a good one to start her with, though, since its purely turn-based - I dunno, but I probably would have been a tad overwhelmed by XII's ATB when I was her age. XD

Yes, let her choose which one she finds most interesting. And If she asks any questions you find confusing, let me know! I could answer them for you. =)
And maybe give her a limit of how much FF to play.

Yeah, let her choose but be careful 'cause I know a lot of people get confused, for example the junctioning system in VIII, but I think it'd be pretty cool if you gave her one of the older ones, for the PS, instead of one of the newer ones 'cause IMO they are the better ones.
;]
Bless her.

Let her decide which Final Fantasy she wants to play, that way she'll be comfortable with her decision.

I'd suggest either FFIX or FFX. Both are among the easier Final Fantasy games, and I think they're the most "child-friendly" FFIX in particular is very cutesy on the surface, and is probably the easiest Final Fantasy game.

Although, maybe it would be better to let her pick herself, perhaps show her which characters are in which game and see which ones she likes the most :gasp:

If it were my little sister, I would start her off with FFX. The turn-based battles are probably the best for a younger player. Plus, you could help by walking her through the battles, and take it slow until she gets the hang of it.

There are also the Crystal Chronicles and Chocobo Dungeon games as was mentioned; Although I haven't played them myself, they seem very kid friendly and easy to understand.
