Is anyone intending on seeing this?

Or have you already seen this?

I was at the movies the other night and saw the poster of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and knew I just had to see it when it came to the big screen!

I watched the trailer and was quite intrigued!

Alice is 19 years old and she returns to Wonderland this time. It's not her first time there in this movie.

I like how they took a darker approach to this movie. It makes it so much better and appealing to the older audience.

It also has Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen.

It's meant to be out March this year.

I'm intrigued to this. You say she's returning there? Wow, nice approach. So it's not entirely a remake after all. However, seeing as how it's Tim Burton and Johnny Depp working together, I have to go and see this. Anything they do together is incredible. I recall seeing a short trailer of it when watching something else in the cinema and it does appear to be dark. Good, I don't like it when it's too kiddy-like.

Yup! It has to be her returning as you hear the Red Queen say 'Alice has returned to Wonderland' and at the beginning when the Mad Hatter sees Alice he says, 'Alice, it's you. You're back! You're absolutely Alice I'd know you anywhere.' He says how since she's been gone that the Red Queen has taken over Wonderland and such too. >.<

I was a bit confused at first when I saw that she was 19. I thought that the original Alice was only a young girl, but after listening to all that was said in the trailer it all made much more sense!

I'm so glad they made this movie. >.<

This movie is going to be incredible, and it just goes to show how versatile of an actor Johnny Depp really is. From the criminal John Dillinger to the quirky Mad Hatter...man. It's just amazing. Whenever Depp and Burton team up you know they're going to make something incredible. They always do. :D I can't wait to go and see it! x3

Hm. I'm a sucker for the Alice story in general, so I'm hoping that this will be good. But after the way Burton/Depp handled Willy Wonka, and seeing that trailer, I'm skeptical. And it really is starting to feel like Tim Burton is just trying to find out how many different roles he can find for his wife and his best friend.

Anyway. I'm not sold on it. I think I would have preferred if they had gone with either CGI or live-action, not some combination of the two. But I dunno. Maybe it'll work. I'll reserve judgment until I actually see it.

Hm, I've got mixed feelings about this movie. Of course Burton + Depp + Elfman equals enjoyable movie, but some parts of the trailer feel like they aren't really in the 'Alice in Wonderland spirit'. It seems like a lot of characters have stepped out of their passive roles and act more in this story. Alice trying to cope with the passiveness of the Wonderlanders was a quite important part of the original story in my opinion.

I am curious, so I'm defenitely going to check it out.

I haven't seen all Johnny Depp movies that have been produced in the last few years, but he is playing an awful lot of quirky guys lately. I hope he doesn't become that kind of actor that only plays one kind of roles.

At first, Depp's character scared me xD but, he an amazing actor IMO and Burton is an amazing director so, i'm sure that there will be something different and interesting about the movie that i'll end up getting into xD. As Ami had said, they said Alice was 'returning' :hmmm: I want to see it :D

50/50 with it. I loved the old Disney movie. But Im slightly freaked out by this version. Does Johnny Depp have a lazy eye or am I going mad?? His Mad Hater scares me something silly. Tim Burton has always scared me in some way, so this may end up a no-no.

Ehhh...no he hasn't. o_O The only other quirky character I've seen him play is Jack Sparrow who is completely different from the Mad Hatter. I own all of a Johnny Depp's movies and each movie he plays a different type of character and pulls it off just brilliantly. John Dillinger (Public Enemies being one of his newer ones) was in no way, shape or form quirky. Ichabod Crane in Sleepy Hollow wasn't quirky, but more proper and etiquette with a constant touch of fear. Sweeney Todd, a darker more depressed character is something he doesn't play often either. Don Jaun Demarco is another one that isn't quirky. Those are just examples I'm pulling up. No, he's not the type of actor who only plays one kind of role. I can promise you that.

Of course characters like Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka and Raoul Duke don't look alike at all, but they are all weirdo's with strange mannerisms. I just hope he keeps playing roles like Dillinger because I don't want Johnny Depp to suffer from the 'Jim Carrey effect' by playing almost exclusively those weird and strange characters.

Anyways, it gets released March 10 around here, I'm going to check it out in the theater, should be nice on a big screen. :D

My sister got to see a preview screening of this in 3D, but she wasn't too impressed by it, especially with what she saw as very obvious attempts to beef up Johnny Depp's role and screentime. She did like Tweedledum/Tweedledee and the Cheshire Cat (voiced by Stephen Fry) though.

Alice in Wonderland

I think I was probably the only person who enjoyed it when I saw it the other day. I've never actually seen the Disney original, which may at least part of the reason but still... I think I'd have preferred it if Tim Burton just stuck to that story instead of creating a sequel.
It definitely isn't worth seeing in 3D though. I'm yet to see a film that deserves to be 3D.

I'm eager to watch Alice in Wonderland, I've not read too much into it, but it looked like a good film. I'm not going to watch it in 3D, it seems a waste. The film looks alright, I'll probably still watch it.

I've seen a couple of negative reviews towards the film, so currently I'm still unsure as to whether or not I'll bother to go see it. If 3D isn't really worth it, I guess I shouldn't bother then. When to watch it is a problem as I have very little time to - nor am I well enough to go. >_>

Having it as a sequel is an interesting move as opposed to just re-telling the story in its own way. I wonder how that turns out. Having Matt Lucas as Tweedledum and Tweedledee made me laugh when I first found out. However, the image of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter just scares me for some reason. I hope the role isn't as annoying as I picture it to be.

I've seen this film. Just saw it the day it came out. There's nothing special about it. It's just....and okay film. Other Tim Burton films easily beat it out of the park. I think this film was a little centerd for children. There were alot of hilarious moments, but alot of these moments weren't meant to be funny. The storyline was a little chaky for me, but the whole look of the movie was done nicely. I saw the movie without 3D and thank god I did because it was so not 3D worthy. Overall it's a good movie...Just not as spectacular as the hype...Check it out for yourself if ya don't believe meh!

I saw it last night and it was ok. Fun to watch but not one that I would buy to add to my collection. I would have preferred that the movie had been a darker take on the original story. And I also wasn't to fond of the whole Alice warrior princess take on it.
Though I'll admit, her fight with the Jabberwakki was exciting and fun to watch

Depp was interesting as the Mad Hatter, but at times, I felt that Jack Sparrow was emerging in his performance.

We already have a thread for this movie. Please don't make duplicate threads. You honestly should know better by now.

My friends are all hyped about Alice in wonderland 2010, i just tell them to go play the PC game American McGee's Alice i find it alot more interesting ^^ just look at the plot from wikipedia

Shortly after her second adventure, Alice's house is burned down by an accidental fire, killing her family, and leaving her as the only survivor. Due to her survivor's guilt, she tries to commit suicide (bandages can be seen on her wrists), and becomes catatonic. She is institutionalized in Rutledge Asylum, where she remains insane and is consistently mistreated by the workers. Ten years later, the White Rabbit summons Alice to aid a radically altered Wonderland, which became a twisted version of itself as it came under the despotic rule of the Queen of Hearts. The Cheshire Cat serves as Alice's companion throughout the game, frequently appearing to guide her with cryptic comments.

i'd much rather part with my cash to see this

You want an honest review?

I saw it Saturday...

Review: If you were a fan of the books, Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, you'll find this movie to be nothing like either of the books. Every character but the Red Queen is nothing like what they were supposed to be. The Mad Hatter, he's supposed to be mad-as in crazy. Not mad as in literally mad. You could tell Burton was trying to make Johnny Depp's role more than what it's supposed to be. And because of that, we lost sight of the main character, Alice. The way that all of the characters came in at once really rushed the story. You had no time to grow attached to them. It was like they were just thrown at you. And one of the most memorable lines in the movie wasn't even done right. The line; "Who are You" was completely butchered and was nothing like how it was supposed be done. They had the right actor but it was just not done right. If it wasn't for Helena Bonham Carter(Red Queen)I would have walked out of the theater and never looked back. But because of how intriging and true to the original character she was, I had to see what was in store for her. And I have to say, she is about the best thing in this movie.

The plot was a mixture of both books and left me feeling as if the story was everywhere at once. Combining both stories in one movie really wasn't a good idea for them to do.
The music score was very good, though, it was about the best thing in the movie. That and the CGI, because the CGI was beautiful. I just wish we could have seen more of the talking flowers and the caterpillar...which we had about a minute for.

But, the thing that was the worste part was how dark and gloomy the story was. It took a book that was supposed to be wacky and fun, and made it into a Nightmare. And that's not how these books were. The original movie and books were colorful and nonsenical. For instance, there's a scene in the movie where Alice has to walk across a blood river and she had to walk on floating heads. As my dad said, we were expecting the heads to speak in a British accent and say "Do ya always walk on people's head" something that would be silly and not too serious- just like what the Cartoon movie did. But no, there was nothing silly or nonsensical, just dead heads floating in blood.

I was half expecting this movie to atleast make me laugh, and it did kinda. Like, three or four times. So if you go into the theater thinking this movie will make you laugh a lot, it won't. When there was jokes(which was rare)the jokes weren't very funny. And there's a particular scene at the end of the movie involving the Mad Hatter...where he dances...yea, that wasn't funny either.

Rating: 5/10
I give it a 5 out of 10 because it was atleast nice to see such pretty CGI put to use. If you loved the classic movie and the books, and is hoping this movie is like those, I suggest you just not see this movie. Over all, I won't be buying the DVD or going back to see this movie.

This movie, Tim Burton, Johnny Depp...all these things made this movie look so appealing to me and as a Fan of Lewis Carrol and Alice's adventures in Wonderland -- I was greatly disappointing in this movie/interpretation of the classic book.

I have loved the story of Alice in Wonderland for as long as I can remember (probably even longer!) And I have been waiting for this movie for a few years now ever since word first got around about and was extremely excited for the movie to come so me and my family went to see it and to my surprise the movie was nothing that I expected.

The Blue Caterpillar didn't have the infamous line of "Who are You." The Mad Hatter had was nothing as mad as the Hatter should have been, the Chesire cat was not confusing as he should have been -- and Alice was more timid and shy than anything else!

The only character who had me utterly entertained was The Red Queen, Helen did great! But the rest of the cast lost it.

and last but not least Johnny Depp + Mad Hatter + Hip Hop Dance = Disappointed Fan.

With my love for Lewis Carrol and the great Story I would NOT recommend this movie to anyone.

Edit:

I was also disappointed to not see the Garden of Talking Flowers, the Dutchess, The Mock Turtle, or the Gryphon. Tim Burton seemed like he would take this movie to its limits yet he took it to what we saw in the cartoon original but worse.

Great CGI though.
