As you no doubt know she was found dead yesterday.
Here's link of a recent article:
http://www.seattlepi.com/news/article/Winehouse-s-mother-She-seemed-out-of-it-1566467.php

I didn't know much about her.I don't follow much current music.
I did read a
little about her and listened to a couple of songs on youtube. She had a great voice in my opinion.
Maybe as great as Christina Aguilera, Barbara Streisand, Whitney Houston (before the drugs), and Celine Dion.
She had that kind of voice. So it's a tragedy in my opinion that her life ended before she came close to reaching her full potential.

Anyone else agree ?

I've listened to 2 of her songs, liked 1 and other than that, I've pretty much had nothing to do with her.

Her death definitely isn't a good thing, but for me, I find it hard to feel anything when it's some random person I really don't care about. I don't think that makes me heartless or a bad person etc, I'm just being honest with myself.

I'm more surprised about the number of people who've suddenly come out raving about her all of a sudden... actually that's a lie. I'm not that surprised. Standard procedure when a celebrity dies.

i liked a few of her songs but her death is nothing major in my eyes... she not somebody i'm gonna be missing loads and loads. what not helping with my feelings on the matter is the fact that she died because of drugs and alcohol.. well if you are going to use them type of things all the time then the cows are gonna come home at some point.. it sad that she died and she did alot for music in the few years that she was around... but like i said she was looking at death straight in the face by using all them things during her life

I now prepare for the angry mob that gonna come after me :wacky:

As I am sure everyone has said, it's never a good thing when someone dies

Some of her songs were very good and in the early days she had a serious set of lungs on her. She wasn't cut down in her prime though, she had reached her peak and ruined her life. It's sad that she died the way she did, but it's on her own hands. No doubt she will be referred to as 'a national treasure' before this media storm is over

Any death is a waste of life. Amy Winehouse? Never been much of a fan. Had a bit of a unique sound but nothing really grabbed me.

The only thing shocking about this story is that it didn't actually happen sooner.

no angry words from me...

although I feel some of you are jumping to an obvious conclusion. That Winehouse died of a drug overdose. That hasn't been proven yet.

She looked really skinny to me on one of her videos and it occured to me that she might have died of an anorexia based heart arrhythmia ( similar to what Karen Carpenter died of).

If so while you could say she did it to herself, the cause of her death would be different.

It might be months though before we know if she did die of a drug overdose.

Any death is a waste of life.

Eh, I dunno. It's not like she was making use of that life very much, anyway.

I was bummed when Dio died. He was a cool dude and kept making and performing music up until his death. And he died from stomach cancer, not something he could have helped that much.

But Winehouse? I have a feeling that anyone who gives a shit at this point is just getting swept up in the drama and posing.

I did like her music, but I'm not exactly sorry that she's dead. She was talented and maybe could have been again some day.
I don't think there's much else to be said except,

My heart goes out to Amy's family and friends they must be feeling terrible right now. What a talent was taken from us, another one of the angels has rejoined god etc etc.

And she's another member of the 27 club.

sums it up for me really. I dont get what it is about a celeb dying that suddenly makes them soar in popularity. its like people who could take or leave her music (much like me) suddenly like becomg the biggest fan ever.

Yes its a shame someone died, but other than that, will i dwell on it, care about and go on about it? will i fuck, doesnt affect my life in the slightest. Some might think that heartless but at the end of the day she's just some woman in the media spotlight. i have my own little bubble of people i care about so why waste time on someone i never knew

I heard about this a bit ago.

It is sad...for her fans who enjoyed her music...and for her family and friends who now mourn her loss. She did have a really nice voice.

However, even though it hasn't yet been proven that her passing was from a drug overdose, alcoholism, or etc...I find it really hard to believe that those factors didn't cause a great deal of stress on her body/mind and that wasn't at least a contributing factor in her death. The last picture I saw of her showed her rail-thin and very pale. Alcholism can lead to malnurishment and malnourishment doesn't do any favors for one's body or their immune system.

So...while it is sad...because we won't hear any more music from her and her family/friends won't see her again...I honestly can't say I'm surprised about what has happened. She's lived a very hard lifestyle and that eventually takes a toll on anyone after awhile.

Eh this pretty much sums up how I feel too, her death hasn't affected me at all, I hadn't heard anything of her for aaaaages because I'm not really a fan and then suddenly, bam, she's back in the news more famous than ever because she's no longer around.

I wish people would just shush about it now, she died of a drug overdose, not exactly an unexpected death for her. Eh its a shame she died but I'm really not bothered. /heartless.

She was a very good performer and song writer whose grit in her voice was a real natural gift. Shame there wasn't more of her work, but I suppose the irony is the trials and tribulations that restricted her ability to produce more were in fact a huge inspiration for the work she did produce. These days you don't get artists like Amy Winehouse, someone who not only wrote and performed her songs but also felt them. I wouldn't call that a waste of talent, the wasted potentials are the ones you never hear about. I guess now it's up to N Dubz to represent Camden. :wacky:
