Dunno if anyone really pays attention to city skylines much, but I'm wondering if anyone has a favorite piece of architecture or an architectural style that they're really fond of.

I used to think that post-modern buildings were crap, but then I started reading up on it and realized that those were a totally different thing than modern buildings, or the boxy bank buildings that you see all over the place. There's much of an aesthetic element to them so they're nice to look at. :gasp:
And I love Frank Lloyd Wright's work, they're really great. Check out Fallingwater sometime.

Gothic-style architecture has always looked cool to me. What with all the pointed arches, flying buttresses and whatnot. There are some badass cathedrals out there. Dude...someone should make a modern city where all the buildings use such a style.

Check out Santiago Calatrava's works. He designed the Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias in Valence Spain plus some nice bridge concepts.
There are a bunch of nice architectural works out there.
I've been taking some courses I need for computer engineering in the architectural department at my university, and my interest in architecture has been growing since then.
You can google up famous architects throughout history, and I'm sure you'll find a lot of nice stuff.

Of course I'll find a lot of good stuff. I'm an architecture major. :monster:
Never really researched Calatrava though. I've seen Gaudi's work with 'La Sagrada Familia' and those other houses he did, but thanks for that one. I've heard of Calatrava before, but couldn't entirely remember when I'm actually at the library.

Sydney Harbor Bridge - Currently sits in Sydney, Australia. However, was built in Middlesbrough, England, less than 16 miles from where I live. :neomon:

...and anything by Foster + Partners.

As for landscapes, look no further than New Zealand. :)

I'm a sucker for ancient architecture. Flying buttresses galore. I think two of my favorite structures were the Colossus of Rhodes (105ft), which was about 2/3rd's the size of the Statue of Liberty (157 ft)... and the Pantheon in Rome. Just gorgeous. I love reading up on how they were designed and built.
