Auto Life. Too OP? Less fun?

I think auto life and auto pheonix takes away from the fun and the challenge of the numerous epic bosses at the end of the game. Im doing a complete playthrough and Ive almost unlocked nemesis...but now i find myself less excited because it seems like no challenge to spam auto life on all of my characters. prett ymuch all i have to do is rinse and repeat to have my victory. I was looking forward to the challenge. but now it seems all i have to know is 2 abilitys to destroy most of the arena bosses.

Does anyone else think that these abilitys are overpowered and that they take away from the fun of the extra bosses. or will some of them still offer a challenge regardless if i keep this ability on everyone. By the way I only have the NA version...so no dark aeons

I mean, yeah, they can be overpowered if you look at them that way, but you also have to realize they are high grid level unlocks, right? That means you probably grinded a good deal (I'm assuming, since you said you're doing a complete playthrough). It's just one of the perks you get for unlocking a lot on the sphere grid.

I mean...Auto Life and Auto Phoenix is not NEARLY as broken and OP as Doublecast + Ultima. You want to talk about easy end-game bosses with no challenge, you talk about that combo. And if you grind enough to get teleport spheres to go to Lulu's Grid...well, there you go. You just "broke" your game.

Went off topic. Anywho, in my opinion, no, they aren't. Auto Life has always been a part of the FF world and is usually attributed to a high level White Mage/White Magic spell. When you get to high levels like that, of course the bosses become easy.

I hope that input helps in some way, shape, or form.

Sure its attributes for high level white mages. But ive been doing a ton of sphere grinding and all of my characters have this ability from all of the grinding....so thats fine...all are 9999 health and more than halfway through the full sphere grid....but still most of these bosses kill me with one hit. BUT it STILL doesnt matter, because i can beat them using auto life. I think its silly that i can beat these bosses when they kill me with one shot just because of a silly spell. So to me thats very over powered.

Yep. The bosses can kill ya in one hit. However, because of your grinding you've reached levels of epic proportions. I mean, sure, you're overpowered. But that's the games way of saying "This is what you get for over-grinding." Lol.

It's not a "system flaw" for lack of better words. It's just a reward for getting to that level.

honestly I just think that the game shouldnt let me be able to win with one or 2 abilitys when my statistics arnt high enough to take the blows. I mean i dont even have to heal anymore....just recast auto life....dead...auto pheonix....auto life. Its like booooooo.

If you want the challenge don't cast Auto- life. And also, i'm assumin yer fighting the Dark Aeons still, right? yeah of course they're gonna 1 hit ya, their stats are maxed out. The Arena monsters are more of a challenge if you ask me.

If theres no other way to beat an enemy without using Auto-life, well then you have to use it...its nok like its cheating. Its like Yojimbos Zanmato, I dont use it because I can beat the monsters without it. (havent fought dark aeons yet), but its good to have...just in case

As I stated initially I dont have the PAL version so I dont have the dark aeons. Just the arena fights. I mean its ok and all. I like auto pheonix. I just think auto life is a bit of nonsense. I mean I just beat nemesis now...and it was dumb. quick hit, auto life, auto pheonix, Pure easy...and if he even hit one of my guys they die no matter the attack....but I can beat him because i have auto life....yeah right lol

BUT heres the thing....EVEN if i did want to beat him without Auto Life.....the creators gave him an attack that does 99,999 damage to all characters....so its like they give me no choice.

If I'm wrong, correct me:

Let's use Nemesis as an example. Nemesis is from the Monster Arena. He's option. You don't have to do him. He's also the strongest thing at the Monster Arena. Since he's kind of an end-game optional boss, he's going to be that strong. The developers probably expected you to have those spells by now because you're at that point in the game. It's not a wonder why they want you to use it.

Also, there is plenty a strategy to kill Nemesis without using Auto-Life, but it requires Celestial Weapons, Quick Hit, and being quick in changing out to another character.

Considering how messed-up some of the extra bosses in the game are, I certainly don't. Where one mistake or lucky shot is likely to get you killed, its extremely frustrating not to have Auto-Life and/or Auto-Phoenix.

Now, if you want broken in FFX, try Zanmato...
