I have several games that i ripped from the disks to my computer and saved to my external hard drive. And i was wondering if it is possible to play those games from an external device on the ps3.

Games i dont have anymore (and lost the disks to) include FF8 FF9 and Vandal Hearts 1 and 2, along with twisted metal. Is there a way to play those on the PS3?

EDIT: may be confusing, but i have those games RIPED from the origional Disks, but dont have the disks to them. And my computer cant handle a ps1 emulator.

What you're attempting to do is emulate the games you don't own anymore. I should tell you that although it's fully legal to copy an ISO from the disc you can't own an ISO of a game you no longer own.

Sorry if I've just killed the option to plead for ignorance xD

This thread may be closed, as it is discussing something that can be considered illegal. I am not sure that the PS3 can play backups of any previous sony consoles yet. We can say someone is working towards it, but I am not sure it is anywhere close to being released.

I do own the games, just thought i could ask. The games are to scratched in order for me to do anything with em in the ps3

ANY PS3 is able to play a PS1 Game, just not a PS2.

I don't know about ISOs though. I really don't think it's possible to play an ISO on the PS3 unless you've modified it.
