Quote from Wakka himself. But why? After 40 straight losses or so he said, he felt like it was time to retire. Just a pondering question, but why do you think the Besaid Aurochs sucked so much Tuna fish...for so freak'n long?

Could be the competitive level of the rest of the teams in the league. Some of those opponents were mean Sally Suzies...

Also, I think it also is due to the fact that Wakka himself blew as a blitzball player. I mean, I like him as a character, but when I signed him on my team, he was 40 levels behind everyone else. No wonder he's only 1 gil per game to sign.

Wakka = Bench-warmer.

Why did the Aurochs suck?!

I think the constant put down by the Luca Goers... not to mention the pure ownage of the Al Bhed Psyches just made their enthusiasm for the game disappear. I mean, they don't seem that happy about training when you first meet them... and even then you can tell they SUCK crab sticks.

I agree, Wakka is awful. I recruited him once and then let him go.

But yeah, I think they no longer have the drive to compete.

It's probably because Besaid has such a small population, which means they have less potential blitzball players.
Also they have considerably less money available to them, compared to Luca and the Al Bhed.
Also it's a plot point, Tidus becomes the catalyst for Besaid winning.

Thats a very good explanation. Could be due to the fact theres not a blitz sphere in besaid, they can practise in the water but its not exactly the same. Or maybe, and probadly is the fact that their team is just not good enough, if there were more leagues in Spira the Aurochs would be more suited to a lesser division.

They're there as comedy potential. That's their only prpose, seeing as I only ever kept Botta from the original team.

I forget the names, but a few of the original player end up kicking some pretty serious ass when you level them up. Actually, I only signed two non Auroch's and, after restarting the tournament in Luca a few times, went completely undefeated in some 400 games.

But as for the team itself, without my intervention, I'd say that it's because Wakka is simply not a good Team Captain or Coach. Their entire attitude toward the game changed with one little speach from Tidus.

Exactly, Wakka's defeatist attitude just didn't drive them. He let them see how down he was getting about it, wheras Tidus pumped them up because he loves the game and is good at it. Perhaps if Wakka had had that enthusiasm rather than being all "Why aren't we able to win?" they'd be more willing to train harder. I think they probably felt that 'If the captain doesn't think we can win, why bother trying?'

But in comparison to all the other teams' starting stats, members, and abilties, the aurochs are irritatingly weak, to put it lightly...

...because they don't have the proper training. I guess I assumed that it went without saying. Wakka had no real enthusiasm except to get in the arena and play, and so there probably were no strict practices that actually pushed them to any limits at all.

So they obviously will start at the lowest possible, they haven't trained.

I think its more of a phycological factor and in realistic terms less money for training and less experience as soon as tidus came
the only one from an experienced succesful team they won

I'm not sure if it's down to Wakka or not, from what I understand (I may be wrong) Wakka joined the team while they were in their losing streak, he just couldn't turn it around until Tidus arrived.

As for Wakka being weak, he's bound to be if you've already been playing Blitzball regulary before you can get him back on the team, everyone else would've levelled up, so it's not really his fault. If you were to play the game in Luca, then not play atall until Wakka becomes available again, he'd be equal with the rest of the players.

As for the Aurochs, Botta is one half of my great defense, Judda (Psyches) being the other. Letty is also still on my team, as is Keepa.

I've kept Jassu but he only plays against the Kilika Beasts or Ronso Fangs, due to them being easy as hell to beat. Datto is still playing aswell, because I'm waiting for a good striker to present himself.

They aren't that bad when you are controlling them.

Actually, I've pretty much kept the whole team. Rin and Judda being the only ones who weren't there originally. I also had Pah Guado and someone else who I can't remember the name of, you get her near the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth.

Well it's true they did suck, but i guess that it's what you can expect from a poor village, to be fair the Kilika Beasts sucked just as bad since they were also a small village and as such did not have the money to buy top league players like the Luca Goers.

It's just like football really.

You're right, they didn't all suck.

I mean, if you took the time and raised him, Keepa turns out to have one of the highest Shoot stats in the game apparently. (Why the shoot stat I have no f**king idea....) - I haven't actually tried this. Personally, the sooner I can get rid of him the better.
It's just putting up with him until he's a decent level.

They are just not on par with some of the players from the other teams. Even the Kilika Beasts could beat me when I had the Besaid Aurochs original line-up. XD As soon as I managed to snag Nimrook from the Al Bhed Psyches, I was laughing.

Datto and Ropp are my star players. Not counting Tidus, of course. Ropp has higher stats, but I never have any problems winning with Datto playing. His speed actually gets pretty high if you work him.

I think the Besaid Aurochs because they were all too busy drinking Mai Tai's and not practicing ball. Those lazy bitches needed to get up off their asses and run some drills. Nah, I'm just kidding. Here's what I actually think:

Wakka is a person who has constantly shown that he gives up easily and never finishes the fight. Lulu makes that comment several times throughout the game, even once in reference to Blitzball. I think that the Besaid Aurochs played poorly because they were self-defeating. Wakka believed they couldn't win and whenever things got tough, he just saw it as an inevitability. When Tidus came around, he provided the energy and momentum the team needed to succeed even against all odds. But I think the Besaid Auroch's failure deeply represents Wakka's personality in general... and it's strength at the end could represent his growth as a person.

Yeah I agree the Besaid Aurochs did suck but they had Tidus which made them just a little better but is it even possible to win against the goers? Wakka just wanted to retire but he still likes hitting enemys with his ball.

They don't have all the glitz and glamour and whatnot to properly train themselves. Also, they didn't have enough self esteem to get through tough times and I don't think Wakka was a good leader to begin with. He was so freakin' care free...=/. And have Yevon shoved up his rear end.

Ye, I agree with the lack of interest in the game. I suppose all of them believed that 'they have tried their best' already when they lost. They didn't try to work harder than that cos' they believed that their best wasn't enough.

Only, perhaps, when Tidus arrived and change their motto to 'Here to Win', did they try harder, i guess.

I Won A Couple Blitz Ball Games With Em, All You Really Need To Do Is Replace "Jassu" And "Keepa" With "Wedge" And "Biggs" And Replace "Wakka" With "Brother" And Pretty Much Keep Everyone Else. Now Thats A Team! But Yeah The Aurochs Are A Bunch Of "NOOBS" You Just Gotta Throw Out The Crappy Members.

If Anyone Wants To Know Where To Those Alternate Blitzball Members Feel Free To Ask.
