So, in your opinon, who is the best Final Fantasy villain we've had so far?

I haven't played enough of the games to really judge, but I'd possibly give the spot to Sephiroth (effortlessly cool, genuinely evil and damned badass), with Jenovah (Creepiest FF villain ever), Kefka (He becomes a literal god, for crying out loud) and Caius Ballad (for having quite a deep background) taking the runner-up spots.

Anyway, what do YOU think?

Kuja

I love his main theme so much and how he just doesn't really give a shit.
:ari:

Is Jenova really a villain? I'd hate to get off topic from the get-go but to be a villain don't you have to have some kind of cognitive intent to do the things you do? Jenova is an alien and stays alive despite being dismembered so we can assume there are times there it's behaviors are purely instinct.

Anyway. Sephiroth is my pick, followed by Sin. Sephy really made me mad as a kid playing through and I really wanted to stop him and save the planet wheras Sin is a favourite because, without trying to spoil too much, I actually came to understand 'what' made sin do what it did. (Cryptic)

I really don't know. I find it very hard to choose a best villain. They all have things that are really good and really bad. I think in terms of the worst goal it has to go to Ultimecia, I mean, she wanted to wipe out all existence and time and absolutely everything. In terms of backstory I think Kuja's story is the best, I mean with the way he grew up how could he go any other way? Sepheroth's the same, I really feel for those guys. In terms of actually hating the villain? Seymour. That guy, I hated him so much by the end of the game it was unreal. But who to pick overall? It's really hard. I'll say Garland. Because he was a total douche and I have no sympathy for him whatsoever. Pretty much all the villains we see have history that makes us sort of understand how they came to be the horrible way they are. Garland doesn't have that, he's just a prick.

I'm not entirely happy with my choice, but honestly just didn't know who to choose. Maybe I'll come back and change it when I properly make up my mind.

I gotta go with kefka. Always stayed true to his love of destruction.

Sephiroth.

Pretty classic story of a war hero who turns evil.

I would have to Sephiroth was the best Villain. Realizing that he was a somewhat nice guy to being a psycho after he found out about Jenova...I kinda don't blame him but he did a lot of killing once he snapped.

Honestly, i think Sephiroth is one of the coolest Villains from the franchise. He was the most powerfull SOLDIERS and revolted himself against human kind for killing his ancestor and tries to become a god which is pretty cool. But if i had to choose for the evil deeds and personality, i'd go for Kefka, i mean, he killed an entire country and (SPOILER ALERT MATES) actually becomes a god and destroy the world as it was! His personality troughout the game (close to the joker from batman) shows only but evil intent.
So to sumarize it all:
Style: Sephiroth
Evilness: Kefka

I think I'm gonna have to go for Caius. There are other baddies I like, like Seymour (ultra-creepy, but not the main villain), Sin (mega-destructive, but NO personality), Sephiroth (also creepy, but overrated in my opinion), Ultimicia (didn't really see enough of her to make an impact), Shuyin (trying to end the world? Check. Backstory? Check. But ending the world by playing a piano? Pretty cool, I guess, but he's not really doing the battle...).

There are others, I know, but Caius I think is the best, because you can empathise with him. And the fact that it was really quite dark compared to its predecessor.
