Hey who do you think is the best character in any FF? Not the strongest or the most coolest looking, but just his/her ways of doing things, speeches and his/her view.

Note : I did not putt in the heroes of FF1,2,3,5 because they just lacked personality and didnt do anything that special ( Counts with Vaan, and i hardly played ff12 ). And i didn't putt in Lighting because no one knows about her personality much.

I choose Tidus for the reason that he is energic and cheers the party whenever they feel down he cheers them on to go on and never give up, he never gives up to save any of his friends or innocent people and never gives up to defeat an enemy, he learns people ( specially Yuna ) to overcome fear and sadness, and he isnt always serious and boring.

Tidus. The fact that he practically goes through a gauntlet of truamatic revelations about himself and his new friends and still manages to keep a strong centre is amazing. I also enjoy the fact that he also breaks down from the load from time to time to either complain or mope about. It makes him the most emotionally realistic leading character in the FF series (well, tied with Zack).

Tough question...

Cecil FF IV-Cecil is a good hero, he is able to stand up for what is right and he truly knows what is good and is willing to use up all of his inner-courage so the world can free of evil. Which is pretty strong hero material. Not to mention he forgives anybody..

Bartz FF V- Know that you didn't add him on the poll, but he's still a good hero. He has good humor, he's cheerful ( a little bit wild, maybe ) and he has a desire to stop the world from Ex- Death. Isn't that hero worthy enough ??

Terra & Locke FF VI- Don't know if would count Terra as a hero till maybe later on in the game, like she isn't a hero she becomes a hero. Guess that's pretty realistic, because the game shows Terra from being weak and confused, to protecting those around her and giving up anything so those less-lucky can be safe. Locke is a sweet guy, and would protect anybody around him. He would give up life and limb to protect those around him, though sometimes he likes to 'play' hero, rather than be a hero.

Cloud FF VII- Anybody who rides a motorbike is a great hero [=
But seriously, Cloud is just like Terra. He becomes a hero, twice. He goes from being confused and lost to a strong and stable leader and leads a important group into a mission into saving the world. And despite of what is lost, he still moves forward.

Squall- Ugh. Like Squall and everything, but he is a total jerk sometimes. And don't know how he manages to become a leader. He's anti-social, cold- hearted, and stand-offish don't know how Cid saw that as leader material. Wouldn't see Squall as a hero.
But more as a later-on guardian. A guardian to protect his love, Rinoa. Or rather her ''Knight in shining amour ''

Zidane- Zidane is a pretty good hero, he does things that many people would not. Being totally unselfish and having good leadership qualities, he makes a good hero.
Somebody who would risk up everything he had, just so somebody can end his life with a happier ending is amazing, and that makes him a pretty good Hero.

Tidus- Would rather see Yuna as the Hero of FF X. Tidus may of been the main character, and he may of shouted around that it was HIS story, but really the true hero of FF X is Yuna. We just saw the game through Tidus's eyes. Because we were both new to Spira.

Guess kind of mixed between Terra, Cloud, Cecil and Zidane..
Wish could vote for Zack though, because Zack was/ is a really amazing hero..

I'd say Squall b/c he doesn't talk much, but when he does, it is usually important. And some other obvious aspects of his personality

Actually he acted anti-social because he didn't want to create bonds with anyone, so that he wouldn't go through the pain of losing someone important to him if anything happens to that person. He in fact needs people very much, and he realized this when he met Rinoa. So maybe Cid just wanted to develop Squall's sociability by choosing him to be the leader of the Garden later on the game. Besides, Cid saw that Squall had potential to be a leader, which indeed he became.

But it's indeed a tough choice! I'll choose Cecil because of his righteousness and his sense of justice. He is a true paladin. You can tell he is a great hero from the beginning of the game,
even though he is still a Dark Knight he begins to question the cruel actions of Baron, the Mist tragedy being his last act as a Dark Knight
.

It's hard to identify the lead hero of FFVI, because almost all of the characters have an important role in the story. I'd say the story tilts a little to Terra's side because of the Esper thing, but it's not about her alone. About Cloud and Squall, I think they became great leaders when the situation called for one. As for Tidus, I too can't see him as the leader or the lead hero. He was Yuna's guardian along with Auron, Lulu and the others, and he would fight for her.

My vote goes to Terra.

She doesn't start out as a hero, but she does become one. I liked how she went from being a weak and confused girl, to a woman that won't hesitate to give up her life for others. That's pretty noble to me.

Is say neither of them. Its ot just the leaders role to get the job done. Every character has their part to play and their needed just as much as the team leader. Cloud could never have got thru FF7 without tifa. Squall needed Rinoa. Tidus needed Yuna, or Yuna needed Tidus if youd prefer. They all play tjeir parts and in the end, they all got the job done, so regardless id say their all fairly good in their own ways, some just needed a little encouragement.

I think Squall Because out of all the people that could of been chosen it's someone who isn't practical to be a leader, yet becomes a pretty good one.

One question: why wasn't tactics a choice

Locke because He Is Full of charisma He aint as boring And he doesnt try to hard to act Like the leader of the Party Like the Rest of them. And he bassicaly Does Not give a Shit about Anything

I had a tough choice between Zidane and Tidus, but in the end chose Tidus.

Zidane and Tidus have very similar personalities, but Zidane is more of a flirt and Tidus is more emotional.

I chose Tidus because of his passionate love for Yuna, and his consistent upbeat attitude.
Although, the end of IX is amazing :) so...dang.

Can it be a tie? Lol

And Zack...

Okay, here it is. It's a three way tie between Tidus, Zidane, and Zack.

Done :)

Cloud for me, ..... not sure what to say other than that, hes an ideal hero with a great story to boot. Hes confident strong and is willing to give it his all to save the world.

Something about Terra's character was just rather appealing. She starts off not knowing anything about herself, or why she can use magic, and the player slowly finds out who she really is.

And her inability to accept herself as a normal person in the beginning goes through an interesting change, as shown by her saying something along the lines of, "Any normal girl would be flustered," or something like that when Edgar hits on her. xD;;;

But I'm also a fan of Zidane.
He's just a cool guy with a sense of humor, so he was a nice change from the quieter leads. ;D

Cecil. He was the guy I wanted to be when I was younger. He's got it all. He's got strength: he kicked his own dark knight self's behind in a head-to-head battle, not to mention bringing down a giant puppet. He's got courage: he'd leave his beloved Rosa, go to the moon, and risk his life against a man so powerful that he had to be sealed inside a 12-level dungeon on the moon. He's got the looks: Rosa is all over him, Rydia and the kids in town see him as some kind of god, and he can't even keep the elemental fiends away from his manhood!

The most important thing of all about Cecil is that he wasn't some prophesied "great hero" or anything (let's ignore that his father was a great Lunarian). He was a dark knight captain who realized his own faults and mistakes, and then willingly went through a life-threatening trial on a mountain with no survivors, just to rid himself of the dark armor and become a warrior of light.

In every way, Cecil is the kind of hero we all should try to be.

~edit~
Oh crap, my avatar has Cecil on it! Just realized, heh.

Anybody can look like a good leader if you have uncontrollable Zell and Seifer in your party. Sorry but just don't see somebody who tells their own teacher to 'speak to a wall ' hero-worthy. Squall's past was rough, and he did needed people to be sociable with and get better. And Rinoa shows him that, by wanting him to open up about his thoughts and feelings.

That's why saw Squall more of a protector than a hero, he knows what it's like to loose friends, so he tries to protect his friends and his lover because he doesn't want them to feel the pain and the depression that he's been through. Squall had some potential to be a leader, but you don't have to become a good leader in order to become a amazing hero. Guess would call Rinoa the hero, because she was brave enough and kind-hearted enough to try and break through Squall's rough wall...

Definately has to be Tidus, he is amazing and fun loving. Tidus was strong willed and a good character, i liked his back story/ history.

He looked great, i liked his costume and his stronger aspects (speed and agility) suited my fighting style so me and him are fairly similar.

I'm going to go with Cloud (Although, I'm curious as to why you didn't include Celes in the poll, she's more of the "lead" than Locke >_>).

Cloud because of how much he goes through - Aerith's death, Sephiroth manipulating him, Mako poisoning, getting his memories back... Out of all the lead characters, Cloud was one who I really felt went through a "journey" both mentally and physically. The change in Cloud, from asshole at the start of the game, to a decent guy at the end, actually felt organic, which is one of the reasons I think he's the best lead character. Compare the change in Cloud with the very sudden change in Squall in FFVIII, Cloud's is organic, Squall's is rushed and awkward.

I liked Bartz the best man,
and firion was awesome, why didn't you put them on the list?

I liked Zidane. He was like Tidus except not as much of a little bitch. Honestly, that pretty much sums up how I view it. Tidus was too much of a cry baby for my taste. But Zidane, he was strong willed, cared for others and all that heroic bullshit, but was still charismatic, funny and flirty. I loved his little remarks and funny actions, like when he grabs Garnet's ass.

I don't know why but I actually like Clouds style of leadership. Although at times he became Mr. Know It All jerk.... And Squall for his ability to quickly the situation and sort its pros and cons.... But I will stick to Cloud for his experience.

I had the exact same problem as you Advent, it was a toss up between Tidus and Zidane; I went for Tidus.
He had a good personality (that Squall and Cloud didn't have at all) and he was half decent in battle. Plus, he was awesome in Blitzball!
