Which FF do you feel has the best story-telling through cutscenes......not which one you thought was the best, but which one you thought was easy to understand through your FIRST playthrough. And didn't require you to FFwiki the plot or refer to an in game datalog (like in XIII).

Since most people havent played FF1 - FF5 FF's I'll just put FFVI - XIII (excluding XI and include CC and X-2).

I think FFIX had the best story telling, I felt immersed in the entire game, felling sad or happy when ever something good or bad would happen. I've never felt so attached to a game or its story like i have for FFIX. It was very dark but portrayed in a light hearted way. I loved it :D

For me, its Final Fantasy 6 and then Final Fantasy 9. FF6 because its simply amazing. The story is beautiful, sad, happy...it brings hope and I really love that in a story, so its been my favorite and will remain so :)

The minute I picked 9 up, I knew it would be amazing. At first, the start is a bit boring, but as soon as a certain part is over, it gets incredibly fun. I had to restart my game to disc three four times because of memory failures, but its still good!

Next would be FF12 and FF5 (Though the past games aren't on the list...) :D

We have some very smart people on this forum. I agree that Final Fantasy X has the best story telling. I like how Tidus is basically thinking the same thing you are when he talks to himself. Final Fantasy X is always action packed and you were never stuck in a sewer or something for 5 hours just to get to another part of the land. That is boring to me I liked how X went from learning things in Besaid and wanting to play blitzball on fools to fighting Seymour then accomlishing your goal. The most boring part of Final Fantasy X were the thunder plains and Macaliana woods back to back.

I really wanted to vote for VI. However, I think I'm a little biased because I just happened to like the theme and the game overall.

I think VII has about the best storyline. It's just a little too serious, the way I see it. But I still think that, maybe, it might be the best.

Id have to vote for FFX. The story keeps getting better and better as the game goes on. I don't know what the rule is about spoilers here so I won't post anything, but just the events that happen as the game progresses along with the character development and Tidus narraration they really couldn't have done a better job

I'd say FFIX had the best storytelling. I felt very immersed in the world whilst playing, and pretty much everything that transpired was gripping enough to feel emotion at the time. I also liked how even many of the minor characters that cropped up during the game had an advancement in their own affairs.

Best story telling? FFX.

FFX was the easiest for me to understand while still being very enjoyable and interesting to follow. Having Tidus narrate was also helpful (as annoying as the voice changes were) when it came to understanding the plot and characters involved. The fact you could pick up on the emotions played out through that voice and the words used... just spoke louder in volume.

I really don't see what people are seeing in FFX. It really wasnt that good. The only thing interesting story-wise was that Tidus was a dream that became real. That's it.

Anyway, FFIX was well done. The story was well written and the settings complemented it well.

I could say the same for FFIX. Also, the question was about the best story telling.

not which one you thought was the best, but which one you thought was easy to understand through your FIRST playthrough.

So as you can probably guess, that is what others are seeing in FFX. :wacky:
Also, I think more people have played it... I haven't personally finished FFIX. :hmmm:
Either way, there is no need to talk down on the game itself.

I happen to think that most, if not all, do a decent-enough job of storytelling.

I base this on which story was able to grip and engage me the most.

On that basis, for me, it's VIII.

Of course I´m a big FFVII fan, but I don´t think that the story-telling was really good. Lot of gamers had lot of problems to follow the story first time. Me too!

So I voted X. It´s really easy to follow this part. The Cutscenes are placed perfect. I was only one-two times confusedxD

FFX

Its the only memorable FF for me storywise..like no other FF title imo you have every single char AND NPC's background so focused on..

Wakka's brother, other summoners, crusaders, sir Braska's entourage..Yunalesca even...etc.....
I loved every aspects of the game while other FF titles had to have something annoying..

Cloud super Emo........Yuffie & Vincent were optional......
I hate chibi (ff9) ..I had no background of tht frog hugging Quina?...or I didnt even want to find out....also that green guy with red hair......not memorable at all......

FF8 had many flaws in story but cant remember them story wise.

Im a FFX fanboy.
