Who passed you the ball once you got the Blitz Ace overdrive. It can be either Yuna, Lulu, or Rikku depending on the answers to three questions during the game.

Twice i got Lulu and once Yuna.
 
Usually Lulu for me, because of how I respond to her in Guadosalam, she's in my party so I'd heal her a lot, and she's often the first person I talk to in an area, which raises affection points. It was Yuna once though. I've never gotten Rikku.
 
Lulu the first time, I was a shameless flirt and kept chatting her up - she was never in my party though, like ever, so fuck knows how I managed to get her

Yuna the second time - I tried to make a point of getting her to be my ball thrower, which meant no flirting with Lulu ]:
 
I got Lulu in my main playthrough of the game and I think I got Yuna a second time. On my first save file though, where my party is all buffed up, I'm pretty sure it changed from Lulu to Yuna. I think if you keep healing Yuna it adds affection points so it changes but I could be remembering wrong.

I prefer Yuna because it wouldn't make sense story wise if Tidus loved Yuna but Lulu was playing with his balls etc.

Like if Yuna's in the party she throws it, if Yuna and Lulu are in the party, Rikku throws it etc etc :hmmm:

Least i'm sure tha twas the way for me.

But to answer the thread question, normally it ends up being Lulu or Rikku :andry:
 
I've gotten Rikku on the bikes, but Lulu when it's Blitz Ace.

I didn't know about the questions dammit, I want Yuna (same reasons as above)! D:

Im pretty sure that's not the case, my first main playthrough I NEVER used Lulu because I couldn't get the fucking Onion Knight

I wonder how it works under water though... I keep meaning to check this out, but I neglected my last playthrough right near the end, AND I got the fuckign Onion Knight well easy as well, I should get back into that
 
It's affected by the affection level of those three to Tidus, it also affects a few cutscenes.
Whoever has the highest affection of the three will ride the buggy with him in macalania after defeating crawler, it'll also affect who jumps first onto Sin later on. This also affects who throws the ball for Blitz Ace.

It's not just the options that you choose in the cutscenes, it depends on how many times you've healed the person in battle and if you've attacked them, most times it ends up as Lulu for most people.

As for underwater, if I remember rightly nobody throws it and it comes out of nowhere.
 
For some strange and unbeknown reason, i always get yuna throwing my ball to me, i always talk to her first, and i never tell Lulu she is my type (in Guadosalam) cos to be perfectly honest, she scares me, granted any woman who can use powerful black magics like Flare and Ultima scares me, i just don't fancy annoying her either.

and with the whole kissing and eternal bliss scene in the macelania woods, i figure it's kinda obvious that Yuna and Tidus are fated to be together (until Sin's death) and a mere mortal like myself shouldn't fuck with fate
 
haven't got blitz ace yet on my latest game, but have built up my affection with Rikku so should be her that throws it for me.... Tidus should totally get with her :mokken:
 
Theway to get Rikku is to do a lot of battles with her when she is with Tidus at the underwater ruins near the start of the game, and again when finally get her in the party near Guadosalam, it takes a lot of battles to swing the affection towards her from the amount of battle you would have done with Yuna and Lulu, the easy to get rikku is to guardd her a lot with Tidus.

Also you can just have Tidus KO Lulu and Rikku to lower affection.

Who throws the ball can already be set by the time you reach Guadosalam, but it can change afterwards with enough battles for your fave FFX female, I ahve had it as Lulu and rikku and Yuna in the same game.

My choice though is rikku........you just have to be callous towards the other chicks in the group.
 
Wow, I had no idea that who threw the ball ever changed, or that there was such things as affection points...haha. I always just end up with Lulu riding the machina to Macalania, and she's always the ball-thrower. I don't even hit on her... So, are these the only instances where character "affection" throughout the game matters in FFX?
