I'm not sure how many of you are for it or against, but I am for it. I think it's wonderful to breast feed your baby. It gives you a natural bond with your child which I feel is extremely important. The first doses of breast milk, otherwise known as colostrum, is very substantial to baby's health and baby first meal. So yes, I'm very for mothers who breast feed their babies, but breast feeding past the normal age...?

Thoughts?

Breast feeding was not for me at all but I did give it a try, I think I lasted about 3 weeks before I gave up on it. It was torture. I personally hated it. I don't like the way you get pressured into it though, I wasn't all that keen on the idea in the first place but I gave in and decided to give it a go. If I had heard breast is best one more time I think I woukd have killed someone. My daughter has only ever been ill when she caught something from nursery I was never breast fed either and aside from the migranes I was NEVER ill, it's only since turning into a raging alcoholic that I started feeling shitty :wacky:

My friend did it for almost 2 years with her son, which I think is great and if I could have got into the swing of it maybe I would have carried on a little longer. Who knows, Im certainly not against it, I just dont think it's the end of the world if you choose not to do it

Im not into all these people that carry on for years though, watched some documentary on it a while back with 8 year olds bein breast fed and I just sat there and cringed. One of the little girls was like Il be breast fed forever and when I grow my owwn boobs I can do it myself. Ew. Do NOT want

They wanna make their babies dependent so they can control them.

I've heard that breast feeding your child after some ages isn't healthy anymore(i can see why some 40-years-old guys still live with their mommy)If you don't teach them that some things should be stopped at a specific time when somebody else wants it they'll also become selfish little brats.
And normally mothers don't have milk for so long so there surely is something wrong.

It's not most definitely. That women in that little 5 minute clip up there is utterly disgusting for allowing her 8 year old to breast feed. My son breast fed for the first 6 months of his life until I moved him to the bottle. It was just getting to be too much a hassle, pumping breast milk when I became engorged if he wasn't hungry, worrying about leaking if he started crying, etc...I'm all for women breast feeding, I think it's very important that the child gets the first colostrum out of the breast as it's very healthy for them, but it just gets too rough. However, allowing your 8 year old to still breast feed!? Can you see something wrong with this picture? It's disgusting.

Saw this video just a few weeks ago.

Breast feeding seven and eight year old children is more than a little odd; in fact, it's pretty disgusting. Watching those kids shove their heads up their mom's shirt struck me as disturbing...

She says it's their decision? I hope she's got enough milk in herself to satisfy teenage girls who never felt like giving it up. Ugh...they even have names for her breasts.

Yeah...I just find it incredibly wrong. It almost feels like a form of incest or something. Was it just me or did the woman seem like she received immense enjoyment from having 7 and 8 year olds sucking on her boobs? I agree with Von. This is disturbing.

Edit: These aren't guys, these are two little girls.

I was referring to extended breast feeding in general.

You're not wrong at all.I was thinking the same/It looks disgusting and like she was enjoying.I feel sorry for her husband. He must receive the less attention.

I saw this clip a while back. Disgusting, in my opinion. I think kids should be weened from the boob by the time they have most their teeth in. I wouldn't try forcing that on anyone, of course - but I still can't stand it.

I read some interesting comments for that video and I saw that some were completely supportive of that.
Yeah, same here. I was wondering if I was watching the same video they were. Defending that lady seems like it'd be a pretty difficult task. Maybe it's...uh...a good way to bond and stay close with your children? Yeah! There we go.

The thought crossed my mind as well...though I don't think she's quite THAT twisted. Then again, who knows. It takes a special kind of person to justify breast feeding their children up to (and probably a ways past) the age of 8.

Apparently the kids start to lose the ability to latch on and suck when they reach a certain age, Im sure it was before the teens anyway, try sucking a dummy, it's no easy task at our age :wacky:

I wonder how they will cope if that happends or her milk just dries up... I wonder if they do it in public?! Im not bothered by that if it's babies but I'd probably have a heart attack if I saw some kid chomping away on its mums tits >_>

There should be laws agains this kind of weird behaviour >_>

I think it's fine breastfeeding babies, but to still be breastfeeding them after it's no longer necessary is just ridiculous. That mother should actually have tried being a parent and putting her foot down and saying "Enough Is Enough" and stopped the feeding years ago. To still be breastfeeding at the age of 8...it's just mind-boggling, it's ridiculous.

I think that breast-feeding babies is great, what with all the health benefits to both mother and child. But... you do need to draw a line somewhere. In my opinion the age limit for breast-feeding a child should be before they start to form lasting memories. Let's face it, who would want to remember sucking on their mother's nipple? Certainly not me anyway. >_>

I don't see what's wrong with breast feeding as long as it stops after a few months or whenever it's normal to do, especially if it has health benefits. But breast feeding an 8 year old xD
What happens one day if they're all at the dinner table and the kid turns around to hsi mother and says "Got milk?" D:

Early breastfeeding is actually good, 6 weeks minimum I heard, cause of vaccination its not required after that I think. But I saw on tv one time about a teenager.. 18 or so, who was still beeing breastfed. Now THAT is just plain wrong.
