For those who wants to see just how big monsters can get in the world of Pulse, look no further than this new scan from Shonen Jump. Yup, that is Adamantoise apparently. We also get to see Cactuar......and <gasp!> his girlfriend?

Olol, Cactuar's girlfriend is epic. xD

The Adamantoise looks ridiculously huge too, it should be interesting to be in a battle with that!

Oh god I came :ryan:

If these monsters aren't the biggest of brutes you fight... This game is SO going to be spending a lot of time in my PS3

Mrs. Cactuar.....? I wonder if they know Mr. and Mrs. Pac-Man.

And Adamantoise is huge, he could easily be bigger than mi planez!!!

Correct me if i'm wrong but... Does Adamantoise look about the same size as Sin? Can't be much difference D:

Also, I might be looking wrong but the large size Cactuar head... Is that going to be actual size because if so... These monsters are going to be fucking huge :gasp:

Um....meep....:gasp:

I so do NOT look forward to fighting that admantoise. :gonk:

And that cactuar better NOT be actual size. Can't imagine what the needle attack could do with needles THE SIZE OF A CITY BLOCK!!!

I just want to find out what a battle with a giant monster would be like. So far in the screenshots and trailers, we have seen only smaller enemies and larger ones such as the Sanctum's machines fighting. But we have yet to see the giant ones.

The giant Cactuar could be the Jumbo Cactuar. With a plant that size, expect to see 1,000,000,000,000,000 Needles. Probably.

It's not like we're unused to large Cactuars; I know that at least one incarnation was in X-2. I just hope this one's not as poop.

Really liking the look of the monsters in this lately. Glad I pre-ordered.

1 Quadrillion Needles?!? :wacky: That's enough to level a city the size of New York or a 15 km radius around London!!!

It looks like the game is eager to become Shadow of the Chocobo, and I love it!

That admantoise is pretty impressive... It is hard to imagine actually fighting that thing.

I wonder if they'll combine the games jump ability with fighting this creature, so that you jump up the legs and on to the back and kill it in stages like that.

It'll make sense if they did... Seriously it would be silly if you kill that thing through cutting its toes with little swords.

I think this is where Alexander may come in handy against Adamantoise and Jumbo Cactuar, though even Adamantoise would flatten Alexander!

I think SE are also taking a leaf out of Level 5's book. White Knight Chronicles has examples of giant monsters (I think- no one here has played it yet!).

If giant monsters will become the norm in RPGs, I will be pretty scared.

you're gonna need something bigger than Alexander to take that on, might I recommend something that flies? Like Bahamut?

I wonder if it's even humanely possible to break that thing into the air? xD I also hope that it does more than stomp around or kick you, I wanna see it whack with those claw things on it's head (I forget the name, incisors mebbe?)

Horns.....

And Squashed is the least of your worries, it' has enough power to Tokyo into a parking lot....

Iuno, didn't it have something sticking out of it's mouth? /checks

And why does it have what looks like a structure of some sort on it's back? O_O Didn't Sin have the same? :jtc:

It has a structure on it's back because it's a tortoise with a titanium shell, obviously. :argh:

Needs dakka, though

Didn't look like one :'(

And they do look like Incisors, like you'd see on something like an ant, wasp, spider etc etc

They look a bit like tusks, but it is too hard to tell... I mean it is barely recognisable as a head...

I think the thing on it's back is to make it look more like a tortoise. Without it, it is essentially Sin on legs.

This adamantoise has got a giant harness of some kind chained on to it attached to the natural shell... I'm assuming it is a sort of battle fort or something... It looks like it is being used by humans and, unless there are giants in the game, I can't see anything sitting on its back so I'm guessing there is a sort of structure that multiple people ride in at the top, or perhaps where they keep resources which they use the adamantoise to transport.

That's a good theory Argor, if it is being used by humans, it could obviously serve either as a transport or if necessary and as stated before, a living mobile fortress.
