Anyone been watching this show?
For those of you who have no idea what this show is about, it's basically about a guy called Nev that helps people who have been having an online only relationship meet up for the first time and find out if the person they are speaking to online are really who they say they are.
More often then not they are completely fake. I guess it wouldn't make the show if it was all happy endings. >.<
I just started to watch this a while ago and it's really bizarre to me that people will go online only to be completely fake and the total opposite of who they really are and make relationships with people.
I understand some people may want to be able to use the internet and forums and such without having to throw too much personal information about themselves around for security reasons. But if you don't intend to get into any serious relationships that's fine. EG: If some members on the forums posting about are saying they are a girl but are really a guy, I could care less because I do not have any sort of relationship with them and it does not affect me in any way what they are. All I'm doing is reading their posts.
However, I think that if you intend to go online and create a personal relationship with somebody, whether it's a friend or lover, you really shouldn't hold back on such important information.
The information you hold back could be the deciding factors for the other person as to whether or not they stay in the relationship or not and it isn't fair to lead them on for so long only for them to find out anyway when you do finally meet.
Things such as gender, name, whether you have kids etc shouldn't really be something you lie about. What if the person you've created an online relationship with hates kids? Better you tell them early on so they can get out and you can move on to someone else who has no issues with children.
Why waste people's time?
Has anyone here had an experience in which they've realised someone they're close with online has turned out to be someone totally different?
Or have you lied about yourself to someone?
Don't know if this should be in The Sleeping Forest or not.
