Hey guys, just putting up a thought here...

What'd you think of the accents that the characters had? It sure surprised me when I played the game. Here is a list of some of the accents:

Al-Cid Margrace: Spanish accent
Ba’Gamnan: Broad west-country British-Scottish accent
Balthier Bunansa: 'Queen's English' British accent
Basch Fon Rosenberg: South-East British accent
Dr. Cidolfus Demen Bunansa (Cid): 'Queen's English' British accent
Drace: 'Queen's English' British accent
Emperor Gramis: 'Queen's English' British accent
Fran: Icelandic accent
Gabranth: New Zealand accent
Ghis: 'Queen's English' British accent
Halim Ondore IV: Middle-Eastern accent
Larsa Ferrinas Solidor: 'Queen's English' British accent
Vayne Solidor: 'Queen's English' British accent

*Note: The above was not my creation, but rather from OKvoicetalent's script in GameFAQs*

Haha, I remember the first time I saw Ondore speak. I don't know if it's just me, but the accent really doesn't suit him.

I was surprised that Gabranth had a New Zealand accent, I've been living in New Zealand for about 12 years and had not picked up that he spoke the same way as over four million people living in the same country as me.

But yeah, interesting addition to a Final Fantasy game.

Oh man, Ondore has the best accent, as does Al-Cid. I know a lot of people I've talked to can't stand Fran's accent. I thought it fit nicely.

I noticed that many each character has it's own accent, or at least most of them have.
I noticed that for the first time when hearing Fran talking. Her accent was a little annoying, but made her original.
I think that the fact that characters have different accents is nice. It kind of makes them more realistic and unique.

I loved Fran's accent from the moment I heard her speak, I used to hope another cut scene would come up just to hear it.

Balthier's accent is kind of seductive.
:>

I love Fran's accent, too! I knew it sounded familiar. She sounds like Bjork!

Love that Queen's English, too. Balthier is one of my favorite Final Fantasy characters of all time.

I'd agree with that, Balthier is pretty awesome.
Somehow I liked the accents and voice acting in XII more than any other FF game.

I loved Fran's accent upon first hearing it, it was kinda unique, you didn't hear it often. The same could be said about some other characters as well, like Al Cid, when he first showed up I was expecting another british accent but when he started talking I instantly fell in love with his accent.

Once again the same could be said about Balthier, his accent his just straight up sexy. I won't lie, there is just something about the pitch of his voice and his accent that makes the man seductive and down right sexy.

Larsa's accent was cute, hands down. Each time there would be a scene with him in it I couldn't wait to hear him talk.

Balthier has a veryyyy sexy accent. It made me orgasim just hearing it. lol!

As for Fran, I thought it was quite different and unique. I actually liked it at some points.

I also Love Basch's accent! It was rough but calm. Loved it.

Ba'Gamnan doesnt sound Scottish at all, maybe west country English, pirateish. Certainly no farmer accent though.

Such great voice acting. Honestly, I think if the voice acting sucked (not very emotional etc), the accent would make up for it. Cid in FFX? His voice had little emotion (not that I honestly care, but this is an example after all) but his accent was neat. It let me actually want to listen to him. But this isn't always the case. Tromel(sp)[FFX - FFX-2] was boring for me. And the old man telling those stories about Spira.. the dead guy? He was quite boring as well.
But I think Fran would have to be my favorite.

Balthier and Basch would make good teachers. I know I wouldn't fall asleep if they were giving a lecture.

Oh boy.

Al-Cid's accent fit him perfectly.

what is 'Queen's English' British accent?
i love how fran talks.

Listen to an average American talk and then listen to the British Queen talk. Balthier, Vayne, Larsa etc are meant to imitate how the Queen talks. Not sure if this helps but yeah, definitions are not my thing. Let's just say that Queen's English is supposed to sound 'sophisticated'.

I hated Al Cid and the Bujerban accent, that Ondore chap didn't suit his voice at all, it was ghastly, and I'm stumped if I can work out what accents they were supposed to be, al cid sounds french or some shit, either way its awful

If they are going to do accents, at least try to get it right so I can work out what they are meant to be:gonk:

The voice acting in this game was superb. I loved all the accents. Well, maybe except Fran's.

Balthier, Ondore, Al-Cid, and Basch were all marvelous. It just makes the characters feel so much interesting and unique. I think it Square Enix made a good decision casting the actors they did.

I liked Ashe's, Balthier and Basche's accents. I hated Al Cid's accent he sounds like a horny fly *don't ask*. I was in love in Ashe's accent that when every time she talk I used to imagine her in a thong and askin me to spank her :gonk: *OK, I think I'm a li'l off topic*

Whoa whoa, some things are best kept a secret (^-^)

Too bad you never heard the Moogles talk (or did you?), I wonder what they'll sound like?
