In my opinion I think the cloister of trials was the worst part of the whole game. so complicated.... and how you needed certain treasures for certain things
-______- THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER THO! so i dont hate it, i just disliked the cloisters :) NOW DISCUSS!

Even Jecht wasen't to exited about them lol. I really disliked them too, not that they were to hard, (eventually you would figure them out), but most of them came at really bad timing, I mean they interrupted the storyline.

No way the Cloisters of Trials were epic :mokken: It was a trial you had to do and for the Fayth to see if you are worth it to even speak to.

It was a great introduction of the Temple's enigma's IMO.
Great interlude you may say. Then you can speak to the Fayth and eventually get the Aeon.

You have to do something for the Aeon , they wont be aquired so easily.

The Trials were a must needed aspect really. RPG's generally have some sort of puzzle scheme in the game. I personally love them, and the added treasures are a reward for doing the entire puzzle.

Also, the Trials play a large factor in the storyline, as that's how Summoners acquire their Aeons. Without them, you'd have an even more linear storyline with powerful summons handed to you and nothing but blitzball to break the monotony.

They could have come up with a different idea instead of the Trials sure, but who knows if an alternate story telling/Aeon acquiring method would be any good.

Yeah, one look at the Djose Temple and one wonders why it's so significantly hi-tech compared to the other temples, especially when Yevon supposedly doesn't like tech. Actually, you can probably twist this into some kind of foreshadowing device if you want to. Yevon likes their technological stuff so long as it's theirs. :lew:

This, really.

I'm a supporter of breaking up the monotony of battle after battle, linear dungeon after linear dungeon and boss after boss, with intriguing puzzles. While I didn't mind the Cloister of Trials to begin with, I never enjoyed the prospect of having to do them over and over again for each temple ahead.

It's fine if they varied it a bit and put in fresh, new puzzles for later temples that have a good chance of not being tedious, but they didn't; therefore rather than look forward to future temples, I miserably crawled at a slow pace towards them. In fact, I distinctly remember getting so annoyed at the fact that the Bevelle Cloister ruined the exciting moment of what was supposed to an epic wedding gatecrash.

Still, at least Gagazet and Zanarkand had their own puzzle moments, even if the latter's Tetris tiles puzzle was just as tedious, if not more.

At least they don't have random encoubnters. That would have really cheesed me off

I don't really mind the trials for the above reason really. Though the Bevelle one gets old fast. I hate that place

I liked them. The Bevelle one wasn't so great, but the others I always enjoyed. Nowadays I can almost always remember where everything is so it's no longer a challange. I wish I could forget so I had to think about them again, especially for getting all the Destruction spheres treasure for Anima.

Xx..xX

they were oaky till the bevelle one. i ended up getting a strategy guide for that it was so confusing.

I actually enjoyed the Cloister of Trails, I thought it was a nice way to lead you into the world and learn a little about Yevon and the religion. It also was a nice way to introduce you to everyone at the beginning of the game. It also was fun way getting the summons and learning about the Fayth's.

The trails were needed, to piss off the player(Zanarkand, and San Djose temples). The game says the summoner must pray at each one. I am sure that was necessary, so the faith with in could be certain they were not lending their power to the wrong person(s). All except Yojimbo, who just sells his services.

Yes, they were needed with out them, the way to beat Yu'yevon would have been confusing.

P.S: I really did hate Djose and Zanarkand the rest were easy.

The Trials were a great part of the Game! Sure they were a "Tad" annoying at times but an RPG game is meant to have puzzles and mysteries and what kept me going was that i was going to get one of the strongest Aeons, Anima. The Beville Trials were the worst i think, just too complex especially if you were getting the destruction Sphere treasure. For a Xtra few hours to get that treasure actually paid off in the end :L :awesome:

I liked the Cloister of Trials because it actually required some thought process to figure out the puzzles. A nice change of pace from fighting random monster battles all the time.

The Cloister of Trials music will forever be encircling my brain! That aside I did actually enjoy the puzzles. Was satisfying to complete them and be rewarded with a new Aeon.

You could say that about so many things in every game ever made, was it really needed? I liked the trials they were a bit of fun and there is nothing wrong with some puzzles. The idea that there were hidden items in them which lead to other Aeons was also neat.

Were they necessary? Probably not, however they added a puzzle aspect to the game that I quite enjoyed. Not only that, but you got some pretty damn good, free items:grin:
