Clouds Story
Before any games... Clouds Childhood.
Cloud was born in Nibelheim, which is a mountain village. His father died when he was still a child, and Cloud was raised by his mother. Cloud didn't ever have any friends when he was younger, due to him feeling they were too childish for him to play with, although he did end up having a crush on the girl next door, Tifa Lockhart.
When Cloud was nine years old, Tifa's mother had passed away. Tifa said she could see her mom by crossing Mt. Nibel. Tifa and her friends began the climb up Mt. Nibel, Cloud was close behind. All her other friends ran back to town while Cloud followed. Tifa ended up getting seriously injured. All the town folks blamed Cloud for her injury, and Tifa's father forbade Cloud from seeing her. Cloud blamed himself for Tifa's injury, thinking he was too weak to save her. About this time Cloud was always angry and got into many fights.
Around the age thirteen, Cloud had learn of the great SOLDIER Sephiroth and all his amazing stories. Cloud decided he wanted to be just like Sephiroth. One night before Cloud left to join SOLDIER, Cloud asked Tifa to meet him at the Nibelheim water tower. That night Tifa showed up, and Cloud told her about his plan to leave Nibelheim to join SOLDIERs and be just like Sephiroth. That night Tifa made Cloud promise that if Tifa was ever in trouble and Cloud made it to SOLDIER that he would come to her rescue. A few months later Cloud left for Midgar, as did another Nibelheim kid named Johnny.
Clouds dreams fall short – working as an infantryman
Cloud ended up working for Shinra, but not as a SOLDIER, but as a normal infantryman. He met a first-class SOLDIER named Zack Flair while on a mission in Modeoheim. There they would become great friends, for they both lived in “backwater towns.” During this mission they investigated the Make Excavation Facility, where they encountered a runaway SOLDIER named Genesis Rhapsodos and an runaway scientist named Dr. Hollander. Hollander tried to escape while Zack was busy with Genesis, but Cloud caught him. Hollander however ended up getting away from Clouds grasp. Cloud would try and catch him again, along with a Turks member named Tseng, but would get attacked by another runaway SOLDIER named Angeal Hewley.
Clouds next main mission was to protect a professor named Rayleigh in Midgar from an organized terrorist group named AVALANCHE. Cloud failed his mission, and was saved by a Turk's member. During this mission though, Cloud was able to show off his sword skills.
The incident at Nibelheim....
After that, Cloud would go on a mission with Zack Flair and Sephiroth to his hometown of Nibelheim, to investigate a damaged reactor. When the group got to Nibelheim, Cloud was so ashamed of not being able to obtain his goal of becoming a SOLDIER like he promised his crush Tifa Lockhart, that he hid his face from everyone in town. The only person he ended up seeing was his mother to tell her about his life.
The next day after seeing his mother, he would go with Zack, Sephiroth, another infantryman and Tifa (who was their guide,) to the reactor that was on top of Mt. Nibel. While climbing the mountain a bridge would break, and they would lose the infantryman. When they finally got to the reactor, Zack and Sephiroth would go inside it, while Cloud was ordered to guard the entrance to the reactor, keeping Tifa out of it.
While outside Genesis approached and knocked Cloud out while he was trying to protect Tifa. Genesis went into the Reactor, and Tifa carried Cloud back into town (still not knowing who it was.) When Zack got back from the Reactor with Sephiroth, Cloud told Zack about how angry he was that he was not strong enough,a nd also talked about Tifa.
During this time Sephiroth would go made while locked in Shinra Manor's basement, and would set Nibelhiem on fire. Cloud would see his house with his mother inside, set on fire. Cloud would be knocked out for a few moments, but when he came to, he rushed for the Reactor on Mt. Nibel. When Cloud got there, he saw Tifa wounded on the stairs, and Zack injured to the side. Cloud would pick up Zack's Buster Sword and rush at Sephiroth to stab him, yelling at him to give back everything he just took.
Cloud would go back to tend to Tifa's wounds, but Sephiroth would come out of Jenova's room still wounded. Cloud would try to rush at Sephiroth again, but Sephiroth this time stabbed Cloud and laughed. Cloud somehow got the strength to lift Sephiroth's sword and Sephiroth, and throw them into Make pit below.
Becoming a test subject- The beginning of Final Fantasy VII.
At this time, Tifa was able to get out thanks to her teacher. Zack and Cloud however were captured by Professor Hojo and used for test subjects. Hojo planned to turn Zack and Cloud into Sephiroth Clones. However Zack's body was able to resist any testing thanks to his body having been exposed to Mako when he became a SOLDIER, and Cloud begun to have severe case of Mako Poisoning, so Hojo called them failures, and put them in two pods in Shinra Mansion basement in Nibelhiem.
About four years of being in there sleeping Pods, Zack finally broke out and took Cloud with him, and escaped Nibelhiem. Zack dressed Cloud in his SOLDIER uniform, since Clouds clothes were soaked with Mako. Cloud was still in a delirious state due to having so much Mako in his system. During there travels Zack would talk about many things from his own life to Cloud, and what they would do once they were in Midgar.
After a year of running, with Cloud still in a unresponsive state, and Zack telling Cloud stories of his past and his hope of being a mercenary, they would finally see the city of Midgar. However at this time Shinra's army caught up to the group. Zack tried to fend off all the infantrymen that Shinra sent, however Zack was unable to stop them all. The infantrymen left Cloud thinking he might already be dead. Cloud would slowly walk over to Zack, and Zack would give him his Buster Sowrd before dying.
Cloud would become deeply distressed after seeing his best friend die. And would slowly walk or crawl towards Midgar.
When Cloud finally got to Midgar, he would be in the Sector 7 Train Station, where he would see Tifa again. When Tifa started to talk to him, Cloud would combine some of his memories, with stories of what Zack told him, and things Tifa would tell him, and would create a whole new Cloud inside himself, and would erase any memory of Zack from his mind. Tifa would convince Cloud to join the AVALANCHE, and his first mission would be to blow up Sector 1 Reactor.....
