After looking at the Disturbing moments thread, I decided there was another "D" word we could look at.

Depressing

Discuss depressing moments in kid's movies/shows.

Two BIG ones for me were Dumbo and Bambi.

Dumbo: The entire movie is just depressing. From Dumbo being made fun of to his mother being locked up while saying goodbye to Dumbo.

^ Makes me cry EVERY time :'(

Bambi: It's all fun and games until the hunters come... It's SO effing sad seeing Bambi look for his mom and then finding out she was shot :'(

I can't type anymore... I'm making myself a mess thinking about these sad moments :(

Discuss!

This scene even got my brother to cry, and that's the only time I've ever gotten him to cry in a movie since. I apologize in advance for the overwhelming sadness.

This one may seem less serious than the others, but I always cry at the end of Monsters Inc. After Sully has to say goodbye to Boo. I seriously start crying everytime. After their big journey together, they had to depart. I just.... Can't help it, even though the movie ends on a pretty good note.

Luckily afterwards in the credits they play funny clips with Mike and the rest. Then the Short for Mikes new car. So that always helps me feel better.

I can probably post something from any movie I've ever seen that's depressing. xD I cry SO easy it's frustrating to me. I've been trying to work on not getting so emotional but it's difficult. It's a problem I've had my whole life.

Everything that is the movie masterpiece known as UP. 'nuff said.

omg I know Alex :( Dumbo is THE saddest movie ever. The part where the mom is locked up would always get me :sad2: I don't even remember how the movie ends. All I know are the sad parts because it was just so depressing.

I don't know of anyone who thinks this is sad, but the part in The Little Mermaid where King Triton zaps all of Ariel's things is pretty depressing... I mean, those are her treasures, damn it! How would you like it if your parent(s) came in your room and just destroyed all of your most treasured belongings? Not very good, I assume :(

The plot of this movie is quite depressing too... The main character loses his wife and all but one kid to a serial killer who leaves said kid with a physical disability... Later he loses his son and has to travel thousands of miles to find him with the help of a mentally disabled woman...

What kid's movie is this?

Finding Nemo

...

Yah, it's been around the internet FOREVER, but it's true... :O

pretty much any episode from the animals of farthing wood... i still remember that horrifing episode where the echidna gets hit by a car :damon:

Oh my gosh. Animals of farthing wood ! I loved that show. But man it was rough for a kid's show. And yes the poor echidna getting hit by the car.:sad3:

About the Dumbo ending, he learns how to fly and he gets revenge on the circus people by spitting peanuts at them through his elephant trunk. He becomes famous and he and his mum go off in a luxury train.

Jack Skellington's dilemma on The Nightmare Before Christmas is pretty fucking depressing. It doesn't much help either that he almost destroyed Christmas :D

This scene still makes me tear up to this day. The throat gets all painful and the eyes start to sting. Seriously though I used to have nightmares about my parents dying because of this scene.

I've seen The Lion King and its sequels so many times that I'm kinda immune to the sad parts in them now. XD But yeah Mufasa's death is heart-wrenching.

Mufasa's death is probably the saddest moment I've ever seen in a kid's film. :( Up is full of really emotional scenes as well, both incredibly sad and incredibly heart-warming.

And, no one's mentioned this but... The Land Before Time! The first one! When Little Foot's mother died defending herself and her child. When he goes over to her and talking to her during her final moments. That one really had me bawling. :(

OMG! I don't know how I didn't remember that! I have almost every Land Before Time movie. That's one of the saddest things I remember as a kid. Now I want to go watch it. xD

Also, there was a Charlie Brown movie called Snoopy Come Home. I don't even really remember clearly what it is but I remember my mother had to take the movie away from me I was crying so hard from a scene in it and I would watch it every day and cry every time.

Also... Forgotten Toys! That film is incredibly sad, too. I mean, I love that film in general. The hand-drawn animation look is something I've always liked. Like in The Snowman. But yeah, Forgotten Toys was incredibly sad. I can't remember too much of it, but from what I do remember it involved a teddy bear and a ragdoll who got lost/forgotten and set off to try and find their home.

just look at it, pickachu crying over ash..... just look at it, the music don't help either

Bye Bye Butterfree is a pokemon episode that got me choked up every time I watched it too. It's one of my favorite episodes. I have the children's book of that ep too.

just look at it, pickachu crying over ash..... just look at it, the music don't help either

I am going go off subject with this movie for a minute...

So the whole point of this movie is that it was wrong to force pokemon to fight... YET STUPID ASH USES THEM TO GET SOME STUPID BADGES??? AT LEAST MEWTWO DID IT FOR A GOOD CAUSE IN HIS HEAD!!!! YEAH ASH SAY IT IS WRONG TO MAKE POKEMON FIGHT AND YET USE THEM TO GO GET YOUR STUPID BADGES!!!

ok back on topic...

Honestly many of the disney classics were just... down right depressing.. Lion King, Dumbo...

but two movies I thought were just down right depressing were The Secret of NIMH and All Dogs go to heaven!

Those two movies were messed up! Secret of NIMH with lab experiments rats killing each other... the OWL was feaky as all hell!

And All dogs go to heaven.. how was that movie not sad.. Little Girl was kidnapped by a dog, used and probably abused and she was just so sad :(
