You're stranded on a desert island, assume you have the means to play a CD, you can have one CD to play with up to 12 songs of your choice. What are they and why?

if you decide to change your mind you have to contact someone off-island. its very longwinded and for that reason they dont want you choosing the same songs. they said if you choose the same song you'd better have a mighty good reason for it.

Oooh toughie

Right, in no particular order

1.Tomorrow - James
. Get a grip music. I can listen to this when Im feeling depressed about being stranded, and it will remind me of dear old Jim
2.Moment of Surrender -U2. This song jut does summat to me, it's like.... :wacky: It's the bass. Fond fond fond memories of this live, that will keep me going!:ryan:
3.Upside - James. This will certainly depress me so would be followed immediately by the get a grip music. It's basically about missing someone coz yer far away... which would be rather fitting, if a tad depressing, but it's another one of my faves, so it goes on the list, and one other gay reason, that I shall keep to myself or you will all be asking me to pass the sick bucket :ryan:
4. Undiscloed Desires - Muse. This went right up my most played on my itunes within like, a couple of weeks, Upside being at the top :ryan: So that says it all really - another one that will remind me of seeing them live and just a general ace weekend all round really
5. I belong to You - Muse. Another favourite. I can listen to the lines 'Ive travelled half the world to say I belong to you' and use it as my motivation to get a raft built and fuck off from the island :mokken:
6. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen. Something just to lift the mood, seeing as I have quite a depressing list so far! EVERYONE loves this song, and I could just belt it out on my island and know no one cane hear me butchering it. Good times. Even though we never did it, it just reminds me of me and Lewis planning to do it on kareoke and it still makes me giggle xD
7. Getting Away with it (All Messed Up) - James. Another upbeat one, and the line about being in deep water hope hes a good swimmer might make me make me have a lol at my predicament... or send me suicidal 8F Plus its another one I can belt out. Tim Booth has the best dancing EVER. I can re-enact it everytime I listen to this
8. The Unforgettable Fire - U2. One of my faves by them, that's the only real reason for that one really and it will remind me of when I saw them live it was aaaaaace :hmmm:
9. Set You Free - N-Trance. Just reminds me of all my mates.
10. Flowers in the Window - Travis. Will ALWAYS remind me of Clare, she drove me insane with this song xD
11.Born of Frustration. - James. I'l sure as hell be frustrated <_< Reminds me of Gav, he belts out that first line of woooos so well xD
12. Ground Beneath her Feet - U2. One of my favourite songs everrrrrrrrrrrrr

1. Out To Get You - James
I think it'd be a rather fitting tune if you were stranded , I think it'd probably remind me that I don't need to be stranded on a desert island to be isolated from friends/family/loved ones and also it'd remind me that I was (in a sense) lucky to be isolated, since people can be right arseholes at times. Well that's what I take from the song anyway.xD

2. Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me - Morrissey (Live at Earls Court version)
It's soppy, soppy is good. It might make me want to slit my wrists at times, but I s'pose it would help me live in reality...this story is old, I know, but it goes on, and on, and on, and on (and on).:wacky:

3. Tomorrow - James
For the same reasons as Kelly. It's one of the songs we've deemed to be in the Get A Grip category, it's very good when you feel a bit shit.

4. Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
Just because I think this is a thoroughly brilliant song. Plus despite the arseholeness of people brought to mind in a previous song on my imaginery CD, of course I'd miss and crave interaction with people.

5. The End - The Doors
Another one to slit my wrists to. If (as I imagine I would eventually) I felt like giving up I'd listen to this, and it'd articulate all my frustrations in a nice, calm way.:lew:

6. All Things Must Pass - George Harrison
A wee reminder of my own mortality, I s'pose and at the same time (maybe) a bit of hope with regards to the situation...it's not always gonna be this way.

7. One - U2
This song just does something for me...I dunno what. As mental as it may sound I feel like the lyrics fit me, if I sang it to myself it would make sense...that makes sense to me.:lew:

8. Electric Light Orchestra - Rock 'N' Roll Is King
It's ace and I'd just belt it out and there'd be no cunt to tell me to shaddap. A change from the slitty wristy songs.

9. Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms
It holds no special meaning to me, but it gives me a good feeling and it's a relaxing tune.

10. Everybody Hurts - R.E.M
Another get a grip tune, but one that also makes you need to get a grip. I think it'd be good to have that if I was stranded.

11. Golden Brown - The Stranglers
A nice relaxing tune that'd help me get some kip.

12. Bat Out of Hell - Meat Loaf
Another one just to belt out and break the slitty wristy-edness of the rest of the CD.

Suspect Device - Stiff Little Fingers.
I'd want some punk in there somewhere, and I think this is what I want from a Punk song, anger/rage, aggression and it's political. The attitude of the song is 'Fuck off', something genuinely aggressive would be good on an Island.

'Cause We've Ended As Lovers - Jeff Beck.
It's a beautiful instrumental which I don't I'd ever get tired of hearing. It is quite sad as well.

Summertime - Ella Fitgerald.
Her version is my favourite. I think it's a very good song, and if I were stuck on a desert Island I'd want a mix of genres.

Buffalo Soldier - Bob Marley.
Same reason as for Summertime.

Don't Wake the Scarecrow - The Felice Brothers.
It's one of the few songs that actually makes me feel quite sad.

Asleep - The Smiths.
I'd want something by The Smiths and this is my favourite. It would be wonderfully depressing, as songs about suicide tend to be.

King's Crossing - Elliott Smith.
I'd also want something by a dead singer/songwriter type, and as I personally prefer Elliott Smith to Nick Drake. I'd listen to this if I ever wanted to feel depressed, it's a song about disillusionment and heroin addiction.

New Dawn Fades - Joy Division
I just quite like depressing songs really.

True Faith - New Order
Something more upbeat. It's one of, if not, my favourite pop songs.

Eleanour Rigsby - The Beatles.
It's my favourite song by the Beatles.

Gentlemen - The Afghan Whigs
Sleazey Jazz influenced Grunge is a must have for a Desert Island. I just really like the song.

My Curse - The Afghan Whigs.
It's the same kind of style as Gentlemen but it has got a woman singing. Again it's just a song that I like a lot.

Champagne Supernova - Oasis
Probably my most favouritest song ever. It'd keep me upbeat if I was stranded, I suppose.

Plug in Baby - Muse
My favourite of Muse's, and I'd most definitely want some Muse on this CD so it makes sense for it to be Plug in Baby.

Disco 2000 - Pulp
Another that's high up my favourites list. It has a really cool nostalgic-ness about it that I'd like if I were stranded alone.

Song 2 - Blur
Far too short, but still brilliant. I think I'd need a good amp with me to properly enjoy it, because it sounds awesome the louder you play it.

Hey Jude - The Beatles
Their best song, I think and everyone loves a bit of The Beatles, so a must have.

Hoppípolla - Sigur Rós
Something nice and relaxing to have with me. It's a really beautiful song.

More Than a Feeling - Boston
Some classic rock, plz.

Abandon Ship - Gallows
The title's somewhat fitting, and I'd want something with this much energy in it.

Rabbit Heart (Raise it Up) - Florence and The Machine
Maybe just because I'm rather addicted to her album at the minute, but it's an incredible song that I wouldn't really want to go without.

No One Knows - Queens of the Stone Age
I think the bass and drums in this are just fantastic, so it's something I'd want with me on the CD.

One Day Like This - Elbow
A very optimistic song that'd be a good one to have.

Lazarus - Porcupine Tree
Another beautiful song in the vein of Hoppípolla that I'd find really calming.

Eye of the tiger - Rocky - it would be for motivational purposes like when building a hut :P
Dont worry Be Happy - Bob Marley - i love this song and would be great for those strnaded, alone and upset.
Monster - Skillet - Dont Know why but i am currently into this band i think they are pretty damn good
I Am The One And Only - Chesney Hawkes - your on a desert island, alone the song fits well and it would just left your mood

All The Small Things - Blink 182 - No Party, Car or desert island Cd is complete without blink 183

Rock Show - Blink 182 - Was my first ever blink song and has since been my favourite
Welcome to The Jungle - Guns and Roses - Guns and roses are teh best rock band ever 'nuff said
Someday - Nickelback - Huge Nickelback Fan and i could not live without one of there songs on the cd
You Rock My World - Michael Jackson - this is my all time favourit MJ song and would be a day brightner on the island well for me anyway
Beer - Reel Big Fish - Another Great Band that i love and would be lost without them if on an island
Christmas In hollis - Sun DMC - Ever since Die Hard this song has been stuck in my head and i enjoy rapping (though badly) so would probs help me on an island
Fireman - Lil' Wayne - One of his best songs imo so would have to include it on my cd

This took a while and like 50.000 flick backs to my itunes haha but its what i would choose
