When given the opportunity, do you ever rename your characters from their default names? I don't. I have this thing where I feel like I have to keep their names the way they were meant to be. Or it makes me feel weird. This is also partly because I suck at coming up with names.

i do. i give them the name sof my family members so that i may feel closer to them. it helps me beat the game easier, too

Never. At most I de-capitalize the names in some of the older games. It's not like I would change the names of characters in a book, so why would I do it in a game that centers on it's story? The only time I would consider renaming a character is if I was doing a "Let's Play!" and those tend to be more humorous anyways.

I do sometimes. It depends on if I can come up with anything that fits what they look like. (Ex. On FF3 I renamed Luneth 'Silver'.)

I did on my first ever FFVII game, giving Cloud my own name.

I had a friend who gave Squall his own name, and Rinoa his sisters name. It was hilarious watching that unfold.

I use to until I would show off my characters and everyone didn't know who was who. So now when I play the games I keep everything so they get respected more by other people.

I used to change the characters names, when I was younger. But now I don't change the names. I like to keep the names as the original names, so when discussing it later, I know what's going on, I found that, when I changed the characters names, I never knew what people were referring to xD

Plus, I suck at thinking up names anyway. When I first played FFVII, I named them after FFX characters. xDD I was only like, 13.

I don't rename them, it just makes it feel really weird to me when I rename them. But I have renamed my other main characters in video games. But I've always wondered why Bartz's name isn't defaulted at all in FFV.

Also, I never thought about this, but, what happens in cutscenes? For instance, if there was a cutscene where they used the characters defaulted name, would there just be a blank?

Nope tbh I love Final Fantasy and I just love keeping the default nam,es because it makes the game much more realistic inmho. Like whats the fun in naming them something else. Like some stupid retard can name him or her "ass"

I can't imagine using different names because I feel it would somehow take away from the story. Tifa is Tifa. Rydia is Rydia. Vincent is Vincent. Period.

Plus, I really suck at coming up with names. When I look back at all the names I've named my pets, most of them were food names. My green parakeet was guacamole; another yellow and white parakeet was popcorn. My dog is Cocoa. My hamster was Brownie.

I would've ended up naming Zidane banana...

First time i played ff8 i changed squalls name to leon XD and I think i changed tidus to sumthin but i cant remember it was way bak in 2001

LOL,I wonder how they both react when they found out the truth. xD

I used to, the first time I played FF: VII, VIII and IX. That was years ago, I probably stick them with with Ruka, as pretending to be the hero. Or just random names as a joke. But now, I just prefer them with their original names.

I hate have to think of names for characters; FFI is the best example.

No, I like to keep them at default, except for FF1, the name of the characters would be "???", "???", "???" and "???". Like the others, I also suck at naming characters. I usually only come up with my pets' names.

OT question : Do we get "Bartz" as a default name on FF5? Because when I heard that "Bartz" is the name of the main character, I was confused as who "Bartz" was since I usually don't change the names and there were no "Bartz" in my party. (My copy of FF5 is long gone, so please help me to solve this bugging mystery)

Noooo Never, Change the name I will destroy the histori-Line, but it is my thing...

I hate when I will play a RPG and i have to put the Name in persons...

My first time playing FF games, I changed Zidane and Vivi's names to some of my nicknames just because I was new to the series and didn't know how much the names would impact me and how I discussed the game afterward. However, once I got the Namingway Card later on, I changed both of their names back.

Every other game though, I keep all the characters, villains, and summons names the same. Just makes it easier when discussing the game and playing through it to get that full impact.

I used to change the names way back when I first started playing Final Fantasy. I would give all of the characters amusing names. Then one time when I was playing through FF IV, I decided to change the characters names every time I got to a new town with a namingway. Halfway through the game, I couldn't remember who was who and when a character was mentioned, I'd have to strain my brain to remember who the hell they were talking about. Needless to say, I stopped that trend then and there. :monster:
