This idea came to me when I was playing FFIV earlier and noticed that I just kept escaping when facing certain monsters...and wouldn't even try or bother to defeat them, knowing that my characters CAN defeat them although it may take time.

So how often do you escape from battle?

I must say not really often for me. I don't really like to escape, but if I am in a hurry to get to my destination so I can save my game, then I will take advantage of it. I'd also use escape if it's one of those monsters that would spawn newer monsters every so often. I just don't have the patience for that. >.>

And of course, Malboros. :wacky: I'd rather not deal with their stinky breaths, even though I'm certain I can defeat them quite easily. The T-Rex in FFVIII however, are quite intimidating early on, so I would run like hell simply because escaping from battle was the wisest choice.

I used to run all of the time, especially when I was trying to get somewhere and couldn't be bothered to do all of these fights. Later, though, I realized the value of extra EXP and GP and I decided to stick around for those extra battles. If my party is in bad shape and I'm low on items/MP, I might run. Overall, I would say that I run very little, except in certain cases (Marlboros, etc.).

Whenever it was a battle that I could beat easily i'd just tap X and attack them though sometimes given the choice I would run if the battle was easy but time consuming

I'm pretty sure I did it a fuckload of times in the original FFI...early on mostly against the Cockatrices. It was a bitch leveling & then having one of your people getting Petrified & hoping the rest of your team didn't wipe out the enemy so you could run as to not mess up the leveling balance...

I generally never run even against tough enemies like malboros. Howeverwhen the leveling seems to get tediouslly slow I wil start to run and move towards the next area.

Ugh, I totally understand what Mitsuki means. I didn't want to level up anymore in FFIX so in the final dungeon I just escaped from every battle.

I will occasionally run when I am in a battle which takes a long time to win, mainly because I can't be stuffed fighting a long battle over and over again. But yeah, I will run if I'm up against an unbelievably tough enemy, but I will usually try to win before I consider running.

I don't really escape all that often, i try to win every fuight I come into, although there are one or two monsters that Il think no way, Im just gunna get my arse handed to me

Also if Im lost or getting impatient Il dtart escaping more frequently, or if Im facing summat like 6 monsters and Im feeling lazy Il just do a runner

Im worse when Im lost though I get so annoyed Il just keep escaping

OMG! The malboros in ffX are fuc*** hard to beat, so it´s better run away. I

don´t usually runaway from batles, only when I lost many HP and don´t have

any method to recover it. I remember some days ago, when I was playing

FFVIII for my first time, I was tryin to defeat t-rex, and the idea was run

away, but I keep in battle more than 30 minutes... lmao

I only ever ran from Malboros in VIII, until I realised that I needed them for DoomTrain...

I escape when I just cant be arsed fighting anything lol. Its when you really want to get somewhere and then BAM! Another bugger pops up and slows you down lol.

Aahh...escaping. It's either the cheapest way to get through a tough area or the laziest thing to do when you know you can defeat the enemy you just don't want to.
I did this a few times my self, hey I just wanna get to the boss so I can leave this area, I wanna see the rest of the FF world!! Or...man this guy's weak, waste of time e.e;; *run away*
But there have been cases when I did escape because I realized that I couldn't win. Usually I'd realize too late and I would end up dead xD

I try not to escape too much when I get into battles just so I can level up more. There are times when I do escape from battles to rush though certain caves twice just to get augments in FFIV or when I go up again incredibly strong monsters like the T-Rex in VIII or the annoying Malboros or Toads in IV that keep casting the Toad spell on all my characters making it impossible to cast spells myself. But the worse kind are those annoying dragons that cast the fire/ice breath spells which drains a good chuck of health out of my characters. Other then that, I usually just face most of the enemies head on when I know I can wipe them out in a few hits.

i run as much as i can. at least when i'm trying to get somewhere. the last thing i want to do is constantly be wading through random battles. i want story.

but then, when i hit a hard boss, i grind out levels. cursing at myself for not fighting those damn battles.

but thinking back on it all, i have no big problems with it. it's just a way to play the games.

Or when there's a time limit.

Hah completely forgot about time limits. Yeah it's a must that I ran away from battles if I have to get out from a certain location in a certain amount of time. Really puts pressure on me. I hate running away and I'm sure that you can get out in time even when fighting some monsters, but I'd rather not risk it.

I used to run from random battles all the time, which often resulted in being underlevelled and having to level grind before boss battles. Nowadays I never run away unless I know I can't win.

I find that I escape from battles a lot when it's my first time playing a game. Otherwise, not really. I escape only when I'm nearing death.

I tell a lie, I always run before boss battles and the nearest save point to them. That way I'm at full strength for the boss.
