The ESRB gave FF13 a T for Teen rating, but somehow one of it's main areas of concerns is the sexuality side, which is quite funny. Though, do be warned, you may pickup nasty spoilers, mainly the last paragraph (do NOT scroll over black as it's a major spoiler), talking about what I think is
Serah's fate after she turns into a crystal
, however the last paragraph is also the funniest. Side-boobs, anyone?

Players assume the roles of heroes caught in a war between two opposing forces in this fantasy role-playing game. Players travel between the planet Pulse and a moon named Cocoon to engage in missions for magical beings called the "fal’Cie. Missions involve battling enemy soldiers and creatures by using melee attacks (swords, knives, staffs, etc.), firearms, and magic spells (lightning strikes, fire blasts, etc.).

Combat is executed through a modified turn-based system in which players select various commands from a menu while freely moving one of three heroes through the battlefield. Players can also summon elemental creatures to battle an assortment of goblins, golems, zombies, wolves, frogs, bats, and robots.

The game’s cinematic cutscenes contain the most intense depictions of violence: machine gunfire from space ships strafe human characters below; humans and robotic soldiers exchange gunfire—aboard vessels, on the ground; a slow-motion gunfight depicts the cracked lens of a robot shot in the head by two semi-automatics.

Cutscenes occasionally depict female characters dressed in revealing outfits: Holographic dancers—clad in bikini tops, skimpy leotards, and backless chaps—glide above the city during a festivity performance; flying-motorcycle models wear skin-tight tops that expose deep cleavage. And during one elaborate sequence,
a female character transforms from a crystal statue back to her human form—sparkle effects, camera panning, and shimmering lights partially obscure the nude character, though side-portions of her breasts are visible
(fleeting—one-to-two seconds). The game also contains the expletives "a*s," "damn," and "hell"; however, it is the violent content, the suggestive themes that account for the Teen rating.

This spoiled me when I saw it on the news :ness:
Ah well, at least
it's probably going to be happy
.

I put the spoiler tag in the bottom paragraph. Personally, I wasn't impressed, ESRB could have easily just mentioned the whole slight nudity thing and left the bit about the story plot. Unnecessary ESRB, unnecessary. :mokken:

Even though there were spoiler tags for an obvious reason- I couldn't help but sneak a peak. How big of a spoiler could it be, I thought?

:neg:.....

That is actually a huge spoiler! Why couldn't ESRB make their point without mentioning the context of the situation?!

I really really really need to stop spoiling myself. Maybe I should ban myself from anything with "FFXIII" in an article in the news compendium for a little while :hmmm:

The opening post needs "Warning: Major spoilers! Do not scroll over black!".

I didnt read these spoilers but i read a little bit on another forum, something about jihl...

sideboob ftw!! but from whome??
Serah (she has no boobs -__-) Jihl ? WOW jk

I remember seeing Serge's butt crack in Chrono Cross. Side boob ain't that much of a big deal in a T-rated game, I think*shrugs*

EDIT: And an FF games saying "ass"? I'm sorry, but I think that's far more intriguing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't heard "ass" in an FF game yet, so I think that's bigger news right there! :gasp:

Just in case you got spoiled, I decided to check it up on the Japanese version, and apparently it's not what it seems. The moment happens very early in the game (second chapter), and that's at the moment of introduction to Serah, which means the spoiler tag moment from the original post happens before she becomes a part of the storyline, not what happens to her near the end of the story as we feared.

This is what ESRB would have likely been reporting to, since they probabaly played the begining part and decided to write about what we thought was Serah's fate near the end of the story, but rather what happens at the begining.

So all is not lost. :)

Hmmm, I really hope you are right Piratewink. However, it says
BACK to her human form
. I would think it would be the other way around if it was at the beginning.

Well, from what I've seen,
Lightning meets Serah at Pulse, but she's already unconscious and starts to turn into a crystal form and it seemed as decsribed by ESRB. That, and that she has to turn back to human if she were to become a part of the storyline.

As said though, this happens very early in the game, Chapter 2 in fact,
if you want proof that she turns into the crystal early on, it's here, she's bound to turn back to human sometime later in the game, then catch it on Youtube by typing "Final Fantasy 13" and searching it by Upload Date, it should be the scene before the icy horizons.

Anyway, I'll stop with the spoilers, but I was just making a point to those who have been spoiled from ESRB's description that it isn't a spoiler near the end of the game, but rather the begining, so while still a spoiler it isn't as huge as what we thought it'd be.

I want to click but I really don't!

....*clicks*

Okay, I stopped
once she started to float into the air
. I suppose you're right, and I don't want to spoil my eyes any longer, so
does it show exactly what they're describing
?

If so, then it's probably what they were trying to say.

However, I was expecting
her to turn back near the end
.

I'm with you on the last comment, then that way it'll make it even more interesting and actually give them a reason to go out hunting bad guys (if that's what they do).

Yeah, I skipped it as well, but it's like they described, although slightly longer, so perhaps they did watch
when she turns back
, but even so, I'm glad the spoiler was at the begining and not at the end, otherwise would've given away a lot!

EDIT:
Also, if you look closely at the TGS trailer, you see Lightning bang her sword against a machine which then powers on, the conversation she has with Snow to lead her to become angry is... Snow: "Please, turn her back." and Lightning replies, "You go on begging, like this thing gives a damn what we want." This moment happens early on, so perhaps the fal'Cie does turn her back, who knows? But I know that it made me hell of a lot more hyped by trying to guess how she turns back.

Oh whqat the fuck so much black! I clicked on tag but immediately left it. I really dont want to know anything god damn it. Ill fucking KILL if someone puts all tye chapters. Anyway how did this esrb thing turn into spoiling shit eh? So what if there is side boobs. Thats awesome

Well judging on the spoiler it's
definitely Serah who turns back
because I've read about the ending and seen screenshots and I can definitely say
Serah's fate isn't to be turned into a crystal
although,
the FFXIII logo has a significant meaning to the ending ;P

Yeah, I thought the logo would represent
a human turning into a crystal and vice versa
after watching the spoiler, but at first (when Eidolons that could transform was revealed), thought it was just that, an Eidolon transforming into a horse-like creature. However, when you look at it... it does show Serah's crystal, so I agree with you there.
