Pretty sure nobody has posted this thread yet.

Well, my favorite concert was Chimaira Christmas 7. At first it was pretty lame because this band named Bowel opened up and they absolutely sucked, they mimicked Mushroomhead with the appearence and sounded like shit. Then this band I never heard of named Forever In Terror came on and that's when the Pit got started, they jammed out like no tomorrow and was awesome. Then it was Demericous and that's when it hit the fan, the pit became more brutal, I got cut above my left eye, and as soon as the blood stopped like 5 minutes later, I was right back into the warzone. Of course Chimaira was the headliner and it was non-stop madness, absolutely amazing concert.

My 2nd was seeing Cradle of Filth because I was in about the 3rd row and I picked up this really hot chick, they performed for about an hour and a half which was awesome, it was a great show but not as chaotic as Chimaira Christmas 7.

First is probably Coheed & Cambria in January this year. It was their Neverender tour where they performed one album per night. I only made it to one night (money issues =p) but it was the night for In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3, which is one of my alltime favourite albums. Hearing it played from begining to end was just fantastic.

Second would be Gaslight Anthem supported by Frank Turner and Polar Bear Club. I didn't know much about PBC but they were just good fun. Frank Turner owned the whole audience, he had such a good connection with every single person in the crowd, amazing performance. The Gaslight Anthem were just brilliant as well, amazing effect on the crowd, got everybody going.

Hmmm, probably Priest Feast last year. Saw Testament, Megadeth and Judas Priest all in one night! A great night, good venue, and 3 awesome bands playing a load of tracks I've loved for years! Seeing Rob Halford up and close was pretty epic.

Motörhead with Sepultura as warm-up a couple of years ago in Copenhagen. I'm not a huge fan of Sepultura, but they played a decent enough set and they were enjoyable enough. Motörhead totally blew them off stage though. The setlist was great, encompassing pretty much the band's entire career, and they even pulled out the acoustic guitars and played Whorehouse Blues as an encore along with Ace of Spades and Overkill.

OMG! *Sprints in circles* HOW TO ANSWER THIS! *faints*

You Me At Six's concert on January 18th 2009;

This one was well damn amazing. They put up and amazing show, not to mention Josh (the lead singer grabbed my hand and held it) I'm usually not a fan girl, but that made my day. Favourite band, during favourite song with that happening = a nice experience. rofl.

<3 Got mah lovely shirt there as well.

Hm... That has to be my favourite concert so far... Although The Cure, and Placebo's concert should definitely be highlighted at well.

Ffs... -headdesk- I still can't believe I missed You Me At Six at Pink pop this year... :sad2:

Foo Fighters and Reel Big Fish were amazing. I was right at the front for the Foo Fighters gig and was just screaming like crazy at Dave Ghrol lol. And they performed for an extra 40 minutes, it was brill. They wouldnt leave the stage! It was incredible!

Reel Big Fish was great cause it was a big hall, but the atmosphere was brilliant. People were laughing, dancing, just having fun and they were great! It was nice as they kept stopping for bout 10 minutes just chatting to the audience and then remebered to play a song lol!

Theres defo a thread on this somewhere :hmmm:

For me it was seeing lostprophets in edinburgh. I mean theyre one of my favourite bands and the show they put on was really quite amazing. I never would have figured ian watkins for a funny guy but hes a great laugh and was getting the crowd in the mood for the next song, which imo is one of the most important things a band can do when u see them live. Il definately see them again i just gotta wait til theyre coming to scotland again 8F

I was at that same gig and thought it was a bit of a let down. The extra 40 minutes were 40 minutes too long, and the whole tone of the concert was pretty low since Dave Grohl opened on The Pretender - which he mimed. Neither opening acts really did much for me either.

For me I would say Kaiser Chiefs in Newcastle a couple of years ago. I'm not really a massive Kaiser Chiefs fan, but they did put on a very good performance and were really good with the crowd.

If you ever get to see Dir en Grey (Jrock band) live, its amazing. The concerts are so bizarre and rad. I have been 4 times so far. :yay:

The very first James concert I went too. I still stand by that even though I saw U2 a month ago. I guess it didnt help that I wasnt as close to the front as Im used to , fuckign traffic, but I diodnt really feel the atmosphere as much as I did when I went to see James that first time. The atmosphere, everything, even having to be there with an ex didnt ruin my mood, and it was awesome, I told myself, I wont go see them again, now Ive seen them twice, but I know for afact if they tour again Il be all over the ticjkets liek a tramp on chips. I just hope it's at the MEN again and not Gmex.....

Probably Bob Dylan. The concert was great, because he came on stage at about 8:30 and left around 10ish, I and a couple of friends where there when it started at 6:30 and spent the whole evening getting very drunk and singing along with everyone else. He didn't play many of his hits, Subterranean Homesick Blues and All along the watchtower being the only two, and he barely said a spoke to the crowd except 'Hello' and 'Goodbye' but his backing band were great and it had the best atmosphere of any of the concerts I've been too.

I was going to make a thread for concerts, but I saw this one and figured it was close enough to what I had in mind!

Anyway, I went to see Ted Leo and the Pharmacists at a bar last night, and they were pretty terrific. Halfway into the show one of their amps blew out and started smoking. So they took a look at it, unplugged it, and kept playing anyway. My friends and I got there early to make sure we had a spot right by the stage, and the venue was small enough to the point where we were close enough that I could see tiny bits occasionally flying off the drummer's sticks as he played.

Also, after every song when the audience was applauding, Ted Leo would come up to the microphone and say "Thanks!" He's such a polite man.

But! That still probably wasn't my favorite concert, which is what this thread is about, afterall. My favorite one was when I went to see the Decemberists last May. I've seen them a few times now, and they always put on an awesome show. (I once saw them at a concert where they were backed up by a full orchestra, which was pretty rad.) Anyway, for the entire first half of their show, they played their entire new album, "The Hazards of Love", from beginning to end without stopping. After the intermission, they came back for the second half and played a bunch of their songs from other albums. They came out and did the first song for their encore, and then, out of nowhere, they ended by playing a cover of "Crazy On You".

And to finish the show, Colin (the frontman/lead guitarist) starting picking out people from the audience and pulling them on-stage for their last song. Finally, after picking a few people he just said "Alright, let's just get some people up here" and a whole ton of people got up there with the band, including myself and two of my friends that went with me. We got to shake the bassist's hand. It was the best concert.

(emphasis mine)

 I'm very sorry for being off topic, but Toksik, your wording is priceless--I ROFL'd for a solid five minutes over this :wacky: I'm sorry the band sucked, but this is too funny.

Anyway, I'm not sure if I have an absolute favorite concert, but one that always really sticks out in my mind was Cave, Super Model, and DotFash at the Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, I think it was sometime in August of 2001. I don't know if anyone's heard of these guys--they were all local bands that unfortunately aren't together anymore--but they were all from different parts of the state, and it was the only time they ever played together. I had seen them all separately before this and loved them, so it was great to see them all together like this, and there were no major national acts there or anything so it was all about them, which was great. Culture Room is a very small venue too, so the atmosphere/acoustics were great, and you can see really well from pretty much anywhere in the stage area. But anyway, the music was totally awesome, I got to meet all the bands, and the second band, Super Model, actually dedicated my favorite song of theirs to me :D I felt kind of bad though, because I was literally the only person on the ground floor in front of the stage while they were playing--everyone else was up in the second-story balcony where the tables/seats are :hmmm: It was kind of weird, but I think it was because they were from Ft. Myers and that's a few hours from where we were, so no one else there would have known who they were. But it worked out okay, everyone in the audience seemed to like them by the end and they sold a bunch of CDs :) Anyway, I think this is one of my favorite shows because I really love local bands, sometimes more so than famous ones, and most of the concerts I have been to are national acts with other national acts opening for them, and then the occasional local band getting smushed into the front of the schedule before the time printed on the ticket, so that no one shows up in time to hear them. At this particular show it wasn't like that, so it was really cool for a change. All these bands who I'd previously seen opening for bigger acts finally got their time to shine, and it was awesome :D

- Thread Stickied -

I've been to loads of concerts in my short time, but I dunno if I can pin it down to just one.

If I had to, then I'd definitely have to pick Bryan Adams. He's the one who's performed the longest of all the concerts I've been to. He was on there for three whole hours and put on a right good show for all the fans. Everyone was really enjoying themselves and he often spoke to the audience. He was very polite, very grateful and very dedicated.

Well, I've seen Alice Cooper, back in '07, that was amazing, However, Im going to leeds this year. So im looking forward to that. Blink 182, Paramore, GNR loadsa bands. So even though I haven't seen them yet, Its my fav:D

I've seen Dragonforce (twice!), Between the Buried and Me, Cynic, Daath, Paul Simon, Joan Jett, Blue Oyster Cult, Foghat...

but the best concert I've ever been to...has got to be Weird Al in '07. He had a different costume for every song (Spongebob t-shirt, heart boxers, and a pink tutu for "You're Pitiful") and aired interviews/movie cilps and any number of hilarious things between songs and whatnot to keep everyone entertained (read; high). It was one of the greatest things ever.

I've only been to one "proper" concert, and that was to see a band called Enter Shikari, really great band, had a lot of fun when I saw them - extremely energetic, came out soaking in sweat and beer, that's when you know you've had a good time! :D

The only big concert I've been to was in 2007. 24th of November I believe.
I went to Sonata Arctica in Eindhoven , The Netherlands. The 3 hours drive was worth it! Some band opened up, forgot the name already. It was okay but it didn't impress me much. The second band was Epica. Awesome! My friend and I went to the front rows for that. Had to watch out for the pushing people though xD But she was awesome even when she was ill she almost sung flawless.
And then of course Sonata Arctica, man every one screamed so hard I didn't even hear Tony sing xD I almost fainted because it got so warm, but in the end I jumped and screamed with the rest. I was dead at school the next day, didn't sleep all night as we were home at 3 am and didn't find it necessary to sleep because we had to get up early again.

It was definitely Sonata Arctica and Nightwish in September 1st 2008 in Montreal for me. I got to meet the band members (except for Anette she was tired or something). I still remember Tuomas gonig into his bus carrying a plastic bag and like a fantard I was like "Hey Tuomas I'm a big fan can I get a picture pleaase? :gasp:" "Shoor jast let mii poot mai stauf een =)" sigh fun times.
