so i just randomly thought of this like 5 minutes ago found this site and thought id ask other people. What would you rather want from square-enix a new full graphical and everything / new chrono trigger game. Or a final fantasy 7 remake. Leave an explanation please. Also if you haven't played Chrono trigger leave this discussion now and go play it then add to the discussion lol.

And I would probably go with a CT remake, tbh :hmmm: Simply because Advent Children was a good peek into higher-level VA and graphics for FFVII, but we still have yet to see anything like that for CT. And I would be really interested to see the CT cast translated into CGI and maybe less cartoonish, I loved CT in its original state, but it would be cool to see the characters look more like real 3D people also.

Well, there definitely shouldn't be a remake of FF7. There are so many reasons why.
1. I don't think SE would remake one of their most perfect games just for better graphics and to fix some translation issues. (Which many people like anyway)
2. Many scenes would be too hard to do with good graphics. I don't mean technically hard, I mean that some scenes only worked because they had these boxy figures. Like, the Honeybee Inn scene? Where Mukki is on top of Cloud, imagine that in high quality! Or in the hot tub. With voices. That would earn it a M rating... The thing that made the scene so funny was also because you could see Mukki sorta on top of him with his mustache and giant out of proportion top. Also, the bee girls looked so funny shaking back and forth, and it wouldn't be nearly as funny in high quality, instead it would look slutty. Also, where Cloud had to dress up as a girl? And where he pushed those barrels when Aerith was running from the Turks? Those scenes couldn't be done as well in high graphics.
3. Many people would actually be angry at a remake. Me not really, but some people think the game is a classic, and we know classics should not be remade.

However...
I do want a sequel. Many say the series is too long and that they don't like AC and DoC but I loved them! And the secret ending of DoC really implies that there will be a sequel. There were rumors that it would happen in 2010, but that didn't happen.

I really think SE is losing some of their magic, as FF12 doesn't seem like an FF game and many people dislike FF13. FF7 and 8 were my favs, so that's why I would like a sequel that raps up FF7.
What would be the BEST GAME EVER is a duo of Cloud and Vincent (my 2 favs) and it could be a SRPG/ fighting slash game where you can switch between the 2.

lol I wrote a lot :P

I genuinely thought this was going to be a thread between an FF7 remake and a Crash Team Racing 3 game :hmmm:

Regardless, i'd take the Chrono Trigger remake, I had more fun with that game that I did with FF7 tbh :monster: and it doesn't have wide open plotholes or a love triangle :wacky:

I actually think they could do a lot more with a Chrono Trigger remake. As much as I love FFVII, it has had way too many spin-offs.

With Chrono Trigger though, it would be difficult with all the endings

I'd make new content a priority ahead of remakes actually. I would think that remaking Chrono Trigger wouldn't exactly work as a lot of the appeal of the game for me was its 16-bit appearance. I just think that in remaking it you have a final product that may look great with overhauled visuals, but distorted in a way that doesn't look much like the 16-bit Chrono Trigger that many have come to recognise. Similarly while remaking FFVII would make it look graphically more appealing to modern gamers that are fixated on HD graphics and not blocky early-era PS1 visuals, it's not really needed. Instead you may come just come across sections of the game that would probably look weird to replicate in HD graphics or would perhaps lose its charm if it's graphically edited. Knowing Square Enix and how they have handled the creation of the unneeded FFVII Compilation in the first place, they'll likely squeeze in some extra bits in a remake to connect FFVII in a better way to the rest of the compilation and that could likely stir controversy. On the other hand, Square Enix's revival of old franchises haven't exactly been amazing (hello, Front Mission) and though I haven't played Chrono Cross, I've heard how it fades in comparison to its predecessor, so there is a chance a third outing just may not inspire much in the way of brilliance. I'm sure they are more than capable of creating a title as refreshing yet reminiscient as Chrono Trigger, they just need Wada to stop yammering on about westernisation and making their RPGs more and more like pseudo-western actions.
