There's a double-F in his name somewhere; I hope I've put it in the right place.

I was thinking ahead to where
Cid summons Ffamfrit at the top of the Pharos. He directs your attention to something in his hand, which ends up being the stone that can call upon Ffamfrit.
My question, however, relates more to that stone than the Esper itself.

Cid talks about the power of Nethicite and that we should "witness its power with your own eyes".
This makes me wonder - is the stone that he carries Manufacted Nethicite, or Magicite from one of the mines?

All of the Espers you fight seem to be condensed in a stone and have a signature symbol to go with their defeat. Ffamfrit has this, too, which makes me think that he's a regular Esper. It's possible, too, because
Venat imposed the knowledge of Magicite and Nethicite unto Cid
, so he could easily know how to Summon. However, Cid is referring to his creation --the Manufacted Nethicite-- and summons Ffamfrit from that stone, which makes me think that Ffamfrit is, by extension, a Manufacted Esper.

If this is the case, it makes me wonder why Espers weren't used as Archadia's weapon.

I thought it was just Famfrit...

It's an interesting question though. Cid tells you that he recovered Famfrit but never says where. You know he is a real esper due to his history sheet, which claims him as the Aquarious esper and the Esper of Water... but just because he is authentic does not necessarily mean his summoning stone is. It could be manufactured nethecite that simply replicated the actual stone's summon. In other words, the summon is real but his "link" to this world was manufactured. That should mean that the real stone exists somewhere else still.

or that it got destroyed ergo the reason to use manufactured Nethicite to summon him

Yea, this is purely a hypothetical thread, I think. So no, you can't actually find the other stone elsewhere in the game... but it should exist if it was actually manufactured nethecite. That's only a guess though for Riku's theory.

Espers weren't used by the Archadians because they figured they would be useless with their massive airship fleets and they were right. I mean when you beat an esper they are pretty much useless in beating a single high level monster or hunt. So why would the Archadians use them? If they can't beat a single high level enemy what hope do they stand on taking down a rival nation?

Of course they're useful. Zalera's Kill and Zodiark's Final Eclipse should explain themselves.
As for the stones, they break after you defeat the corresponding Esper, which I think means they've given themselves up to you.
Something else... It IS spelled Famfrit, but there's something funny about it. Cid fights his son Balthier, whose name is really Ffamrian. The spelling similarity is uncanny... maybe he summoned that particular Esper just because his son Balthier was there?

Some of them i admit are useless but espers such as Zodiark and Ultima both have powerful final attacks such as Zodiarks final eclipse which takes off 50,000 HP when you have the status condition stoned inflicted on yourself.

He used a nethicite. He used it to summon Famfrit (in my cd, it says Famfrit not Ffamfrit) to aid him. Cid didn't tell them how did he get the nethicite so maybe he must have found it in his research about nethicites.

That might be the answer. Also, Nethicite absorbs Mist, so that would serve as a veritable prison for Famfrit.
