Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord will be released for WiiWare on 17th July, i.e. this Friday.

My Life as a Darklord puts you in the shoes of a newly appointed Darklord, whose job it is to strategically position monsters and traps to fight off adventurers. It's tower defence, then, and positioned as a counterpoint to My Life as a King.

That, you may remember, was a rather lovely WiiWare launch title combining role-playing and city-building.

Basically, It's Dungeon Keeper/Evil Genius. Squeenix must really be running out of ideas... Still, it seems like an intriguing concept for a Final Fantasy sidegame to FINALLY place you in the role of a villain... Though I bet they'd place a few elements in the game to ruin that idea somehow.

yeah i guess they are running out of ideas. but at least we'll be able to play as the bad guy for once. but can Mira really be a dark lord? i don't think we'll be doing anything really evil.

Oh, God... The soundtracks, the visuals... A nice concept is already shat upon. Great job, Squeenix, I'll stick to the ORIGINAL Dungeon Keeper, thx. There's no potential for awesomeness here.
