Okay, I've seen FFVII and FFVIII on the PSN (Playstation Network) and I was wondering if they will ever release FFIX on the PSN as well or is that not going to happen?

I really wish it would because it's the only FF game since VII that I do not own. =(. So, does anyone know? Does anyone think that it should not be released? why or why not?

I hope it is, I haven't played it in agesssssssss and I really want to play it again, especially now that VII and VIII have come out. I'd be quite appauled if SE don't release it on PSN, especially since they aren't actually touching the game itself.

I think it is only fair for them to release FFIX like they have with FFVIII and FFVII.

The only reason I see them not doing it is because FFIX was less popular than the former two games (which were both games that had a lot of popularity).

Hopefully releasing it on PSN will be good for FFIX, and many people that hadn't played it as they didn't fancy it at the time, or those that weren't able to play it as it was unpopular and hence dropped into obscurity prematurely will finally get a chance to play it.

I loved FFIX and it was one of my favourites, and left quite an impact on me. So I think it is only right for them to release this game on PSN too now.

I imagine they will eventually, even with its often overlooked status I can't see them leaving it out after FFVII and FFVIII have been given the PSN treatment. Give it time and I'm sure it will happen.

Well knowing them they might release when FFXIII is released in Europe and the US but you never know what they have plan for PSone releases.

It wouldn't make much sense if they don't release FFIX.

FFVII and FFVIII are already there- so it will be inevitable that FFIX will follow.

Although I hope the lower fanfare that FFIX received won't stop it being re-released on PSN. That wouldn't be fair at all. FFIX is a great FF game and if I recall, the one Final Fantasy Hironobu Sakaguchi liked most of all while not involved with.

Huh, that would be cool if they did that. I didn't even think about it, lol. I hope they will. My sister has it, but we can't find the ps1. I would like it if I could play it. Plus, it would make sense if they did release it. I mean c'mon. It's almost out now it's so obvious.

I can see why it would be released on PSN, but I prefer playing it the old fashioned way. On the ps1. I miss doing that =[

I defo think that it would be a good idea for them to release it, it missed out so much on being a mainstream game. I think that it should really be played on a PS1 tho... just doesn't feel the same otherwise =/

I think FFIX will come out for PSN sometime during 2010, I'd bet anything on it.

As far as I'm aware, PS3s mess up with the disks for FFVIII, which is why it's taken so long to put it on the EU PSN, and, I don't think FFIX has this problem, so if it does come out, the gap between it coming out in Japan and coming out in America and Europe should be much shorter.

Does this mean that like the whole game is able to be downloaded off the Playstation Network and you can just play the downloaded version of the games on your PS3 now?

That's a pretty convenient way if so instead of going out and hunting for the actual discs that are now rising in prices as the years go on. Hopefully they will do the same for Xbox Live, but I doubt it seeing as all of those games were released on mainly Sony consoles.

Yeah, or you can download it onto your PSP (or even download it onto the PS3 and transfer it onto the PSP). I suppose this is the benefit of digital distribution it's far more convenient and all the whole it's probably cheaper, I can't imagine going into the shop and seeing FFVII, FFVIII etc for £7.99 on the negative side you'd a)need to buy a Sony console if you didn't have one and b)possibly have to buy memory sticks as well which aren't all that cheap.

I still have my stance that digital distribution shouldn't be the way to go in the future, but that's a different debate completely. :mokken:

I'm sure they will. It wouldn't be a big deal to me if they didn't however, because I still own the original game.

I should imagine Square Enix have realised after how well FF7 and FF8 sold on PSN outside of Japan they will be releasing FF9 on it at some point in the future, however there are no dates of any kind available anywhere, and it 100% won't be until after the end of January because FF8 STILL hasn't been released on the EU PSN yet. But I'd bet that once this has been done it won't be long before they begin announcing release dates for the last PSX Final Fantasy.

Well it really don't effect my since I still have a PS and the game but, if they released both VII and VIII so it'd only be fair if they did it to IX as well. I'm think that they should for those who dont have a PS any longer and want to replay IX. It'd be logical too if people downloaded it wouldn't they make more money anyways?

With people getting VII and VIII on the PSN, I don't see where the harm is to put IX on there as well. I would personally love to see it since the first disc in my game case doesn't even work and don't want to fork out WAY too much for another FOUR discs.

I would definitely buy it if they did and I think they will. It would just be odd for them to release 7 and 8 and not 9.

It was one of my favourite FF's... I remember getting REALLY into the story and I actually remember just thinking about in my French class back in middle school. The love story in it was very well told and captured my imagination.

Although... I'm not looking forward to going into Trance just before the battle ends.
:rage: Damnit I hated that. :rage:

IX is considered by many the best FF game on the PS1, rated higher (metacritic) than even FFVII. If Squeenix doesn't release this game on PSN, they're out of they're flipping minds.

Well now that FFVII and FFVIII are out on the PSN, I give FFIX 6 months before it's out on PSN. I think that was the gap between the EU PSN release of FFVII and the Japanese release of FFVIII. Since FFVII, VIII, Tactics and Vagrant Story have been released to the PSN, it's a certainty that IX will be released. It's just a question of "when" now, really.

This was so weird, as I was thinking about this on my way to work this morning! I was thinking about which of VII or VIII I was going to buy, cos I liked the idea of a bit of FF on the bus to work and thought that surely IX would surely be coming on to it eventually.

Then I wondered wether X or even XII would go on the PSN in like 3 years time or something, as I'm sure it'd be nice to have all of your FF's on one console, and the bad thing about the PS3 is not being able to play prior console games, unlike the PS2. Boo.

I'm pretty sure you can play prior console games on the PS3. In fact, I did so not only 2 hours ago on my room mates PS3. :hmmm:

I have heard that some PS2 games aren't compatible and that all PS1 games are but don't quote me on that.

I have played FFX on my PS3 for example. :monster:
