FFIX remake?

Hmmm...if there a insane amount of votes/signatures and show it to square, it just might work...but maybe not idk lol. Well that would be kind of cool, seeing FF9 in better graphics. But if they havent even mention a FF7 remake, i dont think we will hear about a FF9 remake for a looooong time. Well i would buy it

Why remake a game thats less than 10 years old and perfectly fine as it is? I understand remaking the early NES and SNES titles but VII onwards needs not to be touched. If your a real Final Fantasy fan you wouldn't want a remake IMO.

As much as I love FFIX I wouldn't want to see a remake myself because of the spinoffs like X-2 and DOC I don't have much love for bringing classics up to date. But if one is made I would probably buy it.

Nope, I love FFIX and don't think it could be improved on. An sequel would be nice, however, though there's not really an plot left to continue on from. I want an remake of an actually flawed game, like FFVII, which has fairly poor graphics and could benefit from an new, more accurate translation, and maybe some new content (the obligatory extra dungeons in FF remakes).

Three best remake ideas ever:

FF1 with full 3d and extra classes.
FF2 with more character development, awesome 2d.
FFV with monster jobs(a la Dragon Quest), more human jobs, more dungeons and overall improved.

Honorable mention to FFVI with extra characters and FFVII in HD omitting the gay-gang-bang sceen.

But didn't they already remake I, II, V, and VI? Hell, I, II, and VI were remade multiple times.

Anyway, I have to say that I'm a bit opposed to the idea of a Final Fantasy IX remake, but certainly not because I dislike the game. On the contrary, as pretty much anyone here can tell you, it's my personal favorite in the series. However, it's perfectly fine as it is. The FMVs still look beautiful, if only because of a certain PS1-era charm that just can't be replicated by modern consoles, and the translation was fine, with no glaring errors along the lines of "You spoony bard" or "This guy are sick". Aside from that, there just aren't a whole lot of minor changes to be made to the storyline or characters that could make them better. The only substantial problem with the game- the pacing towards the end- would require a very large amount of editing to fix to the point where the game would end up significantly different. Aside from that, though, the game is quite well-done in terms of execution, so there isn't a whole lot in need of being updated. I guess we could get some extra scenes in the vein of FFIV, revealing scenes from the pasts of characters who didn't get a whole lot of screen time or who needed a bit more development, but that hardly seems necessary here.

Besides, there are some things from the PS1 era that just can't be replicated by the modern console generation. That's the main reason why I'm against a Final Fantasy VII remake; could you really imagine, for example, a hi-definition Barret punching a man so hard that he flies into the camera? Hell, whenever Kefka appears in 3-D, I find myself severely disappointed by how he's portrayed; his silliness doesn't really work anywhere other than the wacky land of 2-D sprites. A lot of the charm that made the games great would probably be lost during the transition from PS1-graphics to PS3-graphics. I guess it wouldn't be as noticeable when it comes to FFIX as it would be in, say, FFVI or FFVII, but it would still be there, particularly when it comes to characters such as Steiner or Freya. Most of the animal-based species- who go beyond the bunny eared Viera- would be rather difficult to portray.

That brings me to my next point. Perhaps the greatest advantage of FFIX over the other entries in the series is the artistic direction it took. The clever blend of old and new Final Fantasy, the architecture and attention to detail in the game's cities, the natural environments that seem to be plucked right out of the 16-Bit era, and the chibi-style characters make FFIX probably one of the greatest RPGs ever in terms of artistic direction. That's not to say that I think the PS1 is inherently superior to later consoles, it's just that FFIX happens to come with a sort of unique brilliance that can pretty much only be brought about on the PS1. With these realistic graphics, people have sort of come to expect more realistic character designs, with the obvious exceptions of such games as Mario, Legend of Zelda, etc. I doubt FFIX would do too well on the PS3.

Now, a port to the PSP with added bosses and bonus dungeons? That's a different story entirely.

Yeah I'm very sure Square would go for FF7 first because of it's popularity and because of their own want to make more needless money.

Don't forget III and IV. IV just got it's 3D remake on the DS, alongside with it's PS1 and GBA releases.

In my opinion, I wish that they stop remaking all these games and relying on their fanbase to make money by buying every remake, and just make new games with new ideas and new stories... But this is Square, we're talking about, so it's very safe to assume that all of the Final Fantasy games will be milked into every generation to make any amount of money they possibly can. All of the NES and SNES games have been remade already. They are just waiting until they have the time and technology to set a new bar by remaking VII, VIII, and IX.

Don't forget their obligation to doctor the storyline by cut/pasting elements from their prequels/sequels into it just so the prequels/sequels don't look like generic retarded fan service...

Also, they'll follow it up with brainwashing everyone who played FFVII, making them believe the story of the original and the remake are exactly the same.
