I'm pretty sure this was supposed to go in the Help Booth forum, but oh well :wacky:

I have some questions.
1. What is the lvl99 Chocobo? Where does he spawn? What can I steal from him? Does he respawn if I kill him etc. etc.
2. I could use some opinions on my party.
Basch - Level 52.
Equip : Claymore, Celebrant's Miter, Mirage Vest, and uh.. Golden Amulet*.
He is my party leader. He has buff/heal/esuna gambits just as everyone else in the party, all over my Attack gambit. (Curaga, Esuna, Charge, Bubble, Bravery, Haste, Protect, Attack)
Fran - Level 51.
Equip : Yoichi Bow + Parallel Arrows**, Hypnocrown, Mirage Vest, umm.... Orrachea Armlet :/
He is my "healer" character - Basch & Ashe's heal gambits are HP <40% while Fran's is HP <60% ... she seems to run out of mana quickly, but oh well. Gambit config is just like Basch.
Ashe - Level 51.
Equip : Francisca + Crystal Shield, Renewing Morion, Mirage Vest, ....Bangle...
Gambits just like the other 2, with the exception of Curaga being replaced with Cura. Curaja would just drain my MP :wacky:
* I'm not really fond of accessories, so I just use whatever is in my inventory.
** I have Lightning arrows but I stumble upon mobs that resist it >.>
I'm at the Ridarona Cataract, in my way to Pharos.
I killed the "Hunter Stalker" (
Ba'Gammnan's party
) without any deaths! Well, except for Reddas which died 1 sec before I dealt the finishing blow, because my Bubble gambits were set to "Self" ;o

Should I get 10 espers and farm Abysteels?
Should I do Negalmuur?
Should I continue to the point where I must get on the Bahamut?

Thanks! <3

1) The Level 99 Chocobo is exactly what the name says. He's a quick bastard. He spawns in the Ozmone Plain, in the area that leads to Jahara.

Here's a video of how to make him spawn:

You can get Ribbon, Pebble, Gemsteel, High Arcana from a drop, depending on what monographs you have. You can steal Elixir, Megalixir or Empryeal Soul from him.

As far as I know, you can fight him as many times as you want. It's just a case of getting it to to spawn.

2) Gambits/Weapon set ups I don't often comment on, many combinations can work brilliantly.

3) If you want to complete the liscense board and get rewards from Mont Blanc aswell as complete the Sky Pirates' Den, the you'll need to get all the Espers. Farm Absteel's if you wish to power level.

4) Negalmuur is a good way of levelling if you want to just let the game play itself for you. If you set everything up right, you can leave your PS2 on for however long you like without having to check it. Though it will take a long time for your characters to level if they get to a high level.

5) Yeah, if you want. Alot of the sidequests and extras don't have a cut off time. So if you get to the point in the story where Bahamut if available, you won't have to go there, and will be able to travel Ivalice as much as you like.

* I'm not really fond of accessories, so I just use whatever is in my inventory.

You'll want to stockpile on Bubble Belts. You can buy them from the Bazaar once you reach a certain clan rank...I think it's Paragon of Justice. Or High Guardian...I don't remember.

Try to get some Parallel arrows, they have the same lvl attack but no element, you can get them from the bazaar. Bamboo arrows are even better, they can poison enemies (sell 5 Bat Fangs, 1 Yellow Liquid...yeah...and 3 Water Magicites).

And on the note of weapons, you need to farm the Deathbringer from this mimic thing in the Barheim Passage. It's one of the best weapons in the game, and it's relatively easy to get.

I'm at the Ridarona Cataract, in my way to Pharos.

A warning: in the Pharos, Reddas will screw you over. Alot. He likes to run up and aggravate enemies you could otherwise sneak around.

Should I get 10 espers and farm Abysteels?
Don't have to. The espers are relatively worthless in battle. Go for it if you want the bragging rights though.

Should I do Negalmuur?
Definitely, it will save you from alot of manual grinding.

Should I continue to the point where I must get on the Bahamut?
Extra files do wonders. Save one file in Rabanastre or wherever, then just proceed to Bahamut. If you can't get through it for some reason, or if you just feel cheated and want to do all the sidequests so you feel like you got your money's worth out of the game (like me), then you can just keep working on your other file.

For future reference, you should bookmark this site. It has nearly everything you could possibly need, it's alot more useful than the actual strategy guide and easier to find stuff on there than on GameFAQs. Negalmuur guide is here.

For your accessories I suggest you get Embroidered Tippets which will double exp gained. This will help if you don't want to do the Negalmuur or Abysteel levelling up tricks. By the way, for the Abysteel trick, level ~50 isn't going to be high enough to survive (imo). I was level ~65 before I could do it safely. The Negalmuur trick is good for level 40-70. As for your weapons, yeah, Deathbringers are a good choice, and I would consider getting another weapon for Ashe, mainly because Axes have that random damage effect. But if it works for you, go for it.

Being extremely lucky, i got a Fomalhaut that Fran is currently using! woot!
I've started going through the Pharos.... 3rd Ascent is way too gay
Oh btw, i have done Negalmuur so I know how to do it :)
And I have Parallel Arrows :wacky:
Oh well, the guide said that Fenrir is very hard. He went down without me pressing any buttons (gambits ftw!)
