Hello all. I've been inching my way towards the end of the game for years now and have never encountered a challenge I could not beat with a little online research, until now. Every strategy and every guide I find on how to beat Attacus uses the characters at a developmental stage a little beyond what I'm at now. I'm at Chapter 13, and have been cutting my way back and forth through Pulse trying to finish off every mission with a five star rating so that I can leave no stone unturned when I do FINISH-finish the game, because I'm methodical like that. My Crystarium is almost completely researched for the stage I'm at now, and I still can't figure out how to beat him before the twenty minute mark when he uses Death and destroys me one way or another. So please help me. How do I beat him? And how do I go to a new line, enter doesn't seem to work here.

By the way here's my character stats.

L Com 4, Rav 4, Sen 2, Sab 1, Syn 2, Med 4, Health 9085, Strength 1588, Magic 1594

F Com 4, Rav 2, Sen 4, Sab 4, Syn 2, Med 1, Health 8525, Strength 1947, Magic 1125

H Com 2, Rav 4, Sen 1, Sab 2, Syn 4, Med 4, Health 6585, Strength 1166, Magic 1903

V Com 2, Rav 4, Sen 1, Sab 4, Syn 2, Med 4, Health 8605, Strength 1361, Magic 1525

Sa Com 4, Rav 4, Sen 1, Sab 2, Syn 4, Med 4, Health 9850, Strength 1060, Magic 869

Sn Com 4, Rav 4, Sen 4, Sab 1, Syn 2, Med 2, Health 11650, Strength 1485, Magic 1024

Seriously people I really need help here. I don't know how I'm gonna do the last few marks if I can't beat this one. Tell me what you think.

Make sure you're using buffs and debuffs (Bravery/Bravera and Deprotect are extremely important, and the more buffs/debuffs you have the easier it will be to build chain), and be sure to alternate attacks as a RAV. Use the early stages of the fight to build chain with RAVs (the SAB attacks you use inflicting debuffs should maintain the chain), and try to kill him as quickly as possible with COMs once he starts using Meditate. Lightning is probably a better SEN than Snow for the fight since she can evade almost everything Attacus does. If you need more comprehensive help, let me know.

Thank you very much. I have tried using buffs and debuffs. The dude has a habit of wiping them out when he attacks and inflicting deprotect. Do I try and rebuff and attack at the same time? Also in the later stages when he is using that very damaging attack that can one shot kill anything except a SEN, how do you suggest I take him down before he uses doom? Thanks.

One other thing. Does having a half full or more chain gauge equate to more damage when I switch to COM than an empty gauge, but less than fully staggered, or is it staggered or nothing? I never quite figured that out. I certainly haven't been able to stagger him before he uses doom.

The chain multiplies damage whether or not the enemy is staggered, so 500% chain is 5x your base damage. And yeah, you'll probably need to constantly reinflict debuffs and regularly refresh buffs (just be careful when buffing or healing that you don't lose the chain). Towards the end of the fight, you'll probably want COM/COM/SEN for damage and SAB/COM/SEN for re-inflicting Deprotect. Save your TP for Renews during this portion of the fight so you can hopefully avoid shifting to a healing paradigm.

It's been done without even completing chapter 11, in fact. Fang/Snow/Light is a great team if your secondary roles are well developed, and it looks like yours are in good shape for this.

Try Having a sent, com, and ravager until your buffs wear off. then switch to sent, syn, Sab to redo ur buffs/debuffs. lather rinse repeat. also if you stagger him (i cant recall if i ever did) go all out com rav rav. goodluck!

I DID IT! 5 STARS! Thank you all for your help I couldn't have done it without you. On to the next challenge.

I used Fang as COM, RAV, SAB and MED. Lightning as COM, RAV, SYN and MED. And Snow as SEN, RAV, SYN and MED. I equipped Fang with Calamity Spear to help with Slow, Deprotect and Deshell, stagger to a bit above 500, then switch to COMs. Thanks again.
