Any tips on how to 5* Vercingetorix, I've 5-starred every other mission but this one is doing my head in.I've completed this mission before and got two stars, now when I try it I can't even get one :sad3:.

I've also got the gold watch and I've upgraded Fang,Lightning and Hope's weapons to its maximum (Ultimate weapon).

I've even tried using every single shroud and wasted a doctors code (*) by dismantling it to get an elixir.

The same happened with me but I tried all night and I eventually five stared Vercingetorix. I think I had all of the ultimate weapons.. but just remember that once you have ultimate weapons, they system always wants you to beat any monster in a shorter target time. Since I did 100% this game.. I really did get lucky with the five star in the end. Well the advice I can give you is that.. The first thing to always do on him is to debuff it badly with a couple of saboteurs... although do not forget to have a sentinel as they are vital for defense. Since Vercingetorix is capable of ripping your party to shreds really easily and you want to get five stars.. you are going to have to move really fast. As soon as it comes out of healing.. debuff it straight away. Debuff it and dispel it. Once it is fully debuffed. Cast Bravera with Fang. Since you have the gold watch, this will extend the target time. Use bravera with Fang and keep hitting it. Once it goes back to its shell, it will eventually start using it's most dreadful attack (wicked whirl). As soon as you see this! SEN/SEN/SEN(Tortoise) Then go back to the original pace of debuffing it and poisoning it. The poison really helps, trust me. Just remember to keep debuffing it and poisoning it all the time. Considering Vercingetorix will always give you a hard time after it gets out of it's healing state you have to debuff it completely once it gets out. If you have a ravager role.. you should cast Faithra on that character. Or you can have random stagger chance on one of your weapons.. but it really is not needed. Oh and do not forget! Constantly buff up your characters as well because trust me this thing can rip you to shreds really easily. Do not buff too much! Preferably when it is in healing state as that is when it is wasting time on it's own and you do not want to waste much time during the battle buffing yourself. That is the general idea of it. What I used anyway. It has this annoying attack to debuff your status though.. so be careful. I am sure you know what to do now.. :hmmm:

Yeah I tried the exact tactic yesterday and still got nothing......My target time is like 12.51 minutes, and I did it in 18 mins instead.

I can easily kill him if I poison, but it takes too long aa he goes back into his shell. So poisoning him just lasts a few seconds sometimes. It only does Wicked Whirl when he has 30% HP left (I think) but thats not much of a problem I do switch to SEN/SEN/SEN.However I do really well at the beginning even without poisoning him, but when he casts putrasence (when his HP is at 75%) I lose my defeensive and offensive buffs.

Well that is strange.. I think the target time is 10 minutes with ultimate weapons. Correct me if I a wrong. 10 minutes for 5 star on Vercingetorix? Yeah wicked whirl only happens when Vercingetorix is dying. Well I suggest you try my tactic over and plan it out. It really worked well for me. Or if you want, just try your own. :hmmm:

Poison the crap out of him and attack here and there, but I got 5 stars when I did the cheap Vanille thing. BTW that "cheap thing" is getting him down to near death with poison intact, then summoning Hecaton. Just use that one attack in gestault mode that takes 1 point to use. And he can't do this aura/healing/wicked whirl crap. That's how I got 5.

I basically used the tactic mentioned above by Rem. Start off with Sab/Sab/Sen or Sab/Sab/Sab. Once the guy is debuffed switch to either Relentless Assault or Delta Attack (Com/Rav/Sen) It's important to get the chain gauge up real fast while he's staggered, use Lightning's Army of One technique to get it up and running and take control of her for healing too...(the computer makes a real mess of the healing bits...) As soon as he activates his Aura thingy switch to either Salvation(Med/Med/Med) or Med/Med/Syn (for healing and buffing) Using Renewal from the techniques helps alot too when you're in trouble. Once he's back to normal debuff again. And as Rem pointed out: as SOON as you see 'Whicked Whirl' switch to Tortoise :) Be sure to equip your characters with lots of physical and magical resistance accessories as they help tremendously(That's what made the difference for me really) So just let the poison wear him down after each of his Auras and get the stagger chain up...

I can't be bothered laying out detailed strategies but just so you know the target time is largely based on what equipment you have, your safest bet would be to equip some lower level equipment again.

So long as you can get at least one star it's not that bad. As I recall the stars you get from a mission effectively stack in the main mission menu, so you can keep doing it with lower stars which will stack into an accumulative five stars in the end.

The above thing plus equipping that accessory that doubles your target time (you get it from beating Vercingetorix the first time). I generally found that the best way to approach the 5-star challenge was to use the most basic weapons possible for my party.

I could get into a more detailed strategy, but it seems like you're doing okay as is. The battle really has three phases:

Poision + Buff/Debuf
Use Relentless Assault as much as you dare, try to Stagger
Tortoise up for Wicked Whirl and heal

If you follow that basic pattern, you should be alright. Obviously you want to kill him ASAP and poison alone simply doesn't do the trick fast enough.

I have no idea what this means. 5-stars only come from meeting the target time, they don't accumulate.

I been trying to get a 5 sta ron the guy, I only beat him once and I really dont want to face the thing again sinc ei barely got it, but I need that ahcievment for five starring everything. As for beatting him Millia's tactic is pretty much mine except I would never use all SEN,SEN,SEN I always had SEN,MED,MED, for his wicked whirl attack which he uses one time before going back to a guarding phase once he's under half his hp, then when he's 25% he'll start using twice. all sens is good for that but I could never have it since SEN,meds worked well for me for his other attacks, whenever he's doing big damage to me i sen while my characters heal. The paradigms I used where. Since My strategy is based off specific characters (assuming your maxed out) and their abilitys,I wouldnt recommend this unless your using fang, light and vanille, even having say fang, light and hope would mess it up. I based on mine on all 3 specific abilitys their Ai's are used to. the paradigms are (FANG/Light/Vanille)

(the only actual name i remember) Tri Disaster - RAV/RAV/RAV - NEVER used it except when he was about to get staggered. Assuming you dont pay attention to his stagger until it gets high, if your about to stagger him and its really close to getting their DONT stagger it until AFTER he goes out of a guarding phase, if you stagger while he's attacking or just sitting their, he'll waste it so i wait till he goes in a guarding phase first. then i tri-disaster all the way to stagger fairly quickly.

SYN/SYN/SYN - The trick I always used was buff first and de buff (sabs ill mention) second, even when hes in a guarding phase take the time to buff even if you still have the buffs its good to rest them if you have time left while he guarding, pretty much light and vanille give you all the buffs you need so I would just maunally select the buff that raises attack and defense and distribute them to al your characters at once and then switch into this next paradigm

SAB/SAB/SAB - Its been awhile so i dont rmeember but auto battle gives you the right choice, once i remembered what skill it used then I manually put it in and thats that, I always syn first before this, and its best to do this right after a guarding phase if they go off.

SEN/MED/MED - If the characters are low on health and im doing pretty good then ill use this, wicked whirl i use this, cause light and vanille will be in critical but they heal themselves up pretty quick like this why im still reducing damage, anytime im taking a beat down, I use this as well.

MED/MED/MED - I ONLY use this unless im in critical condition, whenever he goes to a guarding phase I keep my hp maxed out with this one.

lastly COM/COM/RAV - my damage dealer of course

Millias tactic explains it pretty much the only thing I can say is its all time based, just in case you didnt know but im sure you do, lets say your using your syn spells right...as your character is using them you know the paradigm shift ful atb guage trick, its nice to have the paradigm shift ready (as in you have it highlighted) so when your character uses the last spell then shift right into sab (or another one, just using what i did which was sab most of the time) another example is before wicked whirl, if I wasnt allready in my SEN,med one then I had to guess If he's getting ready to do it and quickly shift into the paradigm. the reason I dont like all sens is because one they all may reduce damage but, if he uses it and you get your timing wrong (if you wasnt allready in the paradigm as he's using it) I noticed YOU can still be taken out, you would be in critical, then when you shift to your healing one, sometimes you get taken out before you can switch, but thats just me maybe.

either way I still cant find away to 5 star this guy -_-

Equip Low level Equipments + Gold watch

Paradigms:

1.SAB/SAB/SAB
2.SEN/SEN/SEN
3.MED/MED/MED
4.COM/COM/COM (optional)

At the Start of the battle Try to inflict poison ASAP. When poison is affected switch to SEN/SEN/SEN and keep your health up. Repeat doing this and you should get easily 5*. Worked for me. They key is low equipments and poison.

You can speed up things and sometimes change to COM/COM/COM and attack Vercingetorix.

Good Luck!
