Square Enix today provided a long awaited followup report on the Final Fantasy themed trading card game that was announced last month.
Final Fantasy Trading Card Game is a one on one card game that has players battle it out using cards featuring characters and summons from the Final Fantasy series.

The game makes use of three basic types of cards:
ForwardThe basic card. These are used to attack and also block enemy forwards.BackupThese cards don't take part in battle. They provide the Crystal Points that are required for using cards, and also provide support to forward cards through abilities.SummonsThese are used just once, but have powerful effects.Cards have six standard elemental properties: fire, ice, wind, earth, snow, water. In addition, there are two special elemental properties: light and darkness.

You'll be able to start playing Final Fantasy Trading Card Game (or just start collecting the cards) on February 25. Square Enix will make available Entry Sets costing ¥1,500 and booster card packs for ¥330.
The Entry Sets consist of a pack of 50 cards. There are two types of Entry Sets: Black Deck and White Deck. Each set will include a card that can only be obtained in the set.

Booster packs will consist of eight cards chosen at random.
The game has 160 standard cards and 162 premium cards. There are five types of rarity for the game's cards: common, uncommon, rare, special rare and premium.

The 3rd Birthday (released 12/22) came with a free promotional card. Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep (set for 1/20) and Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy (set for 3/3) will also include a promotional card.

They look pretty bland.....

Oh well, as long as they are fun I suppose they will make a lot of money.

I hope these get released in europe..... then i have a new hobby and i want the kingdom hearts cloud card :O :D

Damn... I just kicked my Magic addiction... I'm sure if they get released in America I'll have a new hobby to spend RIDICULOUS AMOUNTS OF MONEY on. They sound like they might be fun :D

I might actually buy those cards if they are released in North America. I have played Magic:The Gathering a lot in high school but I haven't played another card game since then. All I ned to find is someone to play with but I doubt my friends would like a FF card game since they don't really like the FF universe. Maybe I'll just end up collecting them.

Meh, it seems some very, very gimmicky way of making money. I don't think it be all that successful to be honest, collecting cards seems to be a thing of the past nowadays unless you're an actual collector. I doubt they'll hit much success in the general market.

Here is the latest update for the Final Fantasy card game. It reveals its release date as well as some cards. Here is the link for them:

:rage:

AERITH!!! :yay: Yay! Some Aerith wuv <333 I am totally going to get these cards. :jess:

I wonder if there will be a videogame that focuses around playing the card game...an anime series would be better, but I'd settle for a videogame.

It all sounds very standard to me...the only reason I'd buy these would be because I like shiny things. Fortunately, I'm past that stage of my life now (the stage where I have to impulsively buy and collect trading cards when I don't stand a hope in hell of getting a full set) I think, and no amount of shiny Kefka cards will tempt me...:hmmm:

Like I said before they are basically copy paste pics on useless piece of paper..argg..
I wish they made the pics in a new artform with new poses ands surroundings..that would have been epic.....

Im glad they actually dont release this stuff in NA and EU cause that would really be milkin it....
