Final Fantasy TCG Has a Website [12/2]

A very plain website with a count down for Nov 30th brought the attention of many... only to find out, it's an FF TCG? Surely nothing as spectacular as Pokemon or Magic or Yu-Gi-Oh, and besides.. SE tried their hand with this with the FF Museum cards back in the day, which didn't go so well.

Nevertheless, Andriasang has found and uploaded several 'sample' images of what this TCG is supposed to bring. They're mostly character artwork with little banners and SAMPLE written on them.

The FF TCG has a slated release date for Feb of 2011. But what is SE thinking?

The Final Fantasy Trading Card Game is set for February 25, 2010 release. Further details will be posted at the official site leading up to release.

Must be 2011 lol...I think these cards look fake as hell, they are not even re-designed..just plain existing pics stamped on cards?

CGI + Drawn pics combined... I dont like them at all..

I would only buy them if they were new designed pics...plus I dont import stuff from Japan anyways..never done it and this certainly doesnt persuade me to do so.

Gods, I am so looking forward to this! Maybe they'll even make an anime based on it if we're lucky! Who wouldn't want to see Final Fantasy characters in a massive card-game based tournament? It'd be like Dissidia...only with card games. Making it infinitely more exciting! ♥

...plus I want to see Cloud summon Tifa in face-down position. Just once.

Good God. SE does an amazing job of commissioning people to make products that no one has really ever asked for at all. And if you're going to release a card game (when Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokémon and Magic are already around), at least come up with new artwork for each card rather than the ones we've already seen before lazily stamped onto them.

Meh I dont like this idea for some reason... I mean it isnt going to really do much with other card games such as pokemon and such. Pokemon is HUGE in this department afterall. Why do I feel it will be weird to have a TCG based on Final Fantasy? Also I agree with what you said Olivia... They really need new art instead of old ones we know of. Hahah this is so shit. It wont even do much.

what's the point making some of them in silhouettes? Somebody possible can't recognize Aerith or Ifrit?

For a TCG, I would have recommended using original artwork and a good setup for the cards rather than make the design look as if it's been used before. And I dunno, I think copying the artwork off of Dissidia wasn't exactly the brightest idea. But those are just recommendations. Once they're released, I'll most likely try and buy a pack of my own, whether if its for a card game (if I'm lucky enough to find someone in Florida to play against. . . .) or for decoration. I like decoration better .

Yes, stupid S-E. Trying to market one of their successful series in a way that isn't so costly for some extra cash. Those dumb asses.

And because they're so damn stupid, they won't even release it over seas where there's a sure market for that. Nope, they're just gonna keep it good ol' Japan where the TCG craze hasn't breached at all. Even if there were any, there aren't any FF fans in Japan at all.

Beyond the portraits, I'm curious as to what the card may look like.. maybe little boxes with HP and attacks.. I'd like to use Tifa's Massive Mammory attack take down any opponent.
