I'm not really sure about the art style of Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and see what it's like. I probably won't be getting this. Though I'm glad it's coming to the west (I didn't think it was going to for a bit), I'll use my money on Birth by Sleep instead.

Seeing as Australia has rated it, the UK can't be too far behind.
 
I still don't understand where I'd categorize this game though. Not a main series game, not a spin-off of a main series game, not part of the Ivalice series, not part of the Crystal series..Wtf is it then? D=

It's just a spin-off. In Japan, this game doesn't even have "Final Fantasy" in its name, so you can probably say that it's not just a spin-off of the mainstream FF games, but a spin-off of the FF franchise as a whole.

You have it backwards, kinda. In Japan it's called "4 Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden" but it was originally just going to be called "4 Heroes of Light" in the west. Apparently they've decided against dropping the Final Fantasy title after all.

From what I understand, it's supposed to be like the Final Fantasy equivalent of New Super Mario Bros. or Mega Man 9.

Ah, you're right. Thanks for clearing that up. :dave:

I had it in my mind that one iteration of the title had "Final Fantasy" omitted somewhere. I assumed it was Japan because I noticed that the two words are present here.

You know I'm failing if I get even this kind of thing wrong. xD
