As the title says, which FF game of the series was the least challenging for you?

For me its a very hard choice, as all the FF's seem to share a common problem in terms of once you pass a certain part of the game your characters all become immensly overpowered in terms of stats/gear....I recently took part in a FFVI take out the boss without using cheap tactics (ultima offering etc) with one character and to my dismay.....it wasnt much of a challenge at all...

The biggest problem with FFVI is the gear you get and how easy it is to power up your stats to become an impregnable fortress....I wasnt even anywhere near lvl 99 yet the final boss went down with ease, landing all of 2 hits throughout the entire fight (every other attempt was blocked or dodged)

despite that being said, they have proven capable of making some kind of challenge, it just seems to be a rarity unfortunatley heres the ones that I know of:

1. Vielus/Wiegraf fight: Final Fantasy Tactics
2. Zodiac 13: Final Fantasy Tactics
3. Omega/Ultima Weapon: Final Fantasy 8

This is the part that annoys me, out of the entire series, I could only name 3 boss fights that could actually be "extremely difficult" to get past.

I for one would love to see more challenging boss fights introduced into the FF series as well as no more "god-mode" gear as this can really break a nearly perfect gaming experience.

So which FF game was the least of a challenge to you and why?

Answers on a postcard to this thread :P

Final fantasy X-2 LOL

this game doesn't deserve to be called a final fantasy. it sucks, no summons, no set fighting styles for characters nothing. and the enemies were a push over aswell i mean come on, trigger happy with cat-nip kills everything, and considering i normally used the three original dresspheres or the Special Dresspheres it was overly easy.

Final Fantasy 8, without question.

I'm the type that likes to get my characters as good as I can as fast as I can -- the fact your can refine magic way above your level from cards saw to that.

I realised pretty early on that all I had to do was play an hour or two of cards at the start and I'd have some pretty awesome stat boosting magic -- Tornado, Death, Meltdown all spring to mind -- before you even go to Timber. The bosses were a cinch.

That kept me pretty set for the first half the of the game. In fact I used to learn Diablos' Enc-None ability and leave it equipped so I didn't have to fight any battles until I was grinding at the end. The only exception was when I got GF Tonberry and used his Enemy Lv Up ability to get all the magic I couldn't get through cards.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it cause I could blitz the story, didn't have to draw half as much magic, and got to concentrate on everyone's stats at the end. But it was damn easy.

I can't remember VII being much of a challenge, apart from the weapons that is.

Pretty much other games proved somewhat difficult at times more so then VII.

I + II = early games, not so easy

III = lack of save points could cause issues

IV = Battle system was painful at times, especially when you had to keep rehealing

V = cant remember much about that tbh

VIII = Omega, Ultima, those special islands, Bahamut, etc loads of stuff. Card game too!

IX = Yam island, Ozma, etc.

X = Dark Aeons, Monster Arena, Pennance etc

X -2 = Getting pretty much perfect % proved annoying. Via Infinito too.

XII = A lot to obtain, I could go on for ages.

:/

VII and IX were pretty easy for me.

With VII, as long as you had KOTR, you could pretty much call it a day. And once you knew how to link up all the materia, well the game was pretty much EZ mode.

And with IX, the battle system was pretty simple and I was able to beat Kuja before I hit level 60.

FFVIII my first ever thread was about FFVIII bein too easy.
I mean once u learn the abilities that allow you to refine magic from items, u can give yourself crazy stat boosts. 1 cottage is 10 curaga or something, by the end of the first disk i had squall with like 5000 hp. And if you dont bother leveling up its even easier cuz the monsters stay the same as well.

Well I myself have to say that the least challenging would have to be Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus. I mean even in the hardest setting it isn't difficult.

I had no difficulty defeating Rosso, Azul, Nero, Shelke (when she was bad) or even Wiess.

Another easy Final Fantasy would have to be, Crisis Core.

To me, I thought Final Fantasy IV was the least challenging to me. The SNES version was extremely easy for me because I had the Game Genie for the system which made the game much more fun for me with extra leveling and stronger weapons codes. After having SNES version of this game for so long, it made the GBA and DS versions much more easier for me.

As enjoyable as IX is, I think the only challenging thing was Ozma Ialways found it pretty easy. Although Ive never tried that under 12 hours bollocks...but I think that's another thing that makes it less challenging, if it is actually possible to complete a game that quick, it can't really be all that challenging can it? after playing some of the older titles though, I don't find any of the newer ones to be all that challenging, having to grind just too move on really took the biscuit >_>

But yeah, Im going with IX.......I would have said VII if i wasnt for Emerald & Ruby

As much as I loved FFIX, If I recall I hardly did any leveling up, I just kept playing through the story line never having much of a problem at all.

crisis core is very easy. probably because if you're good enough you can dodge every attack, and its generally not very challenging i only died three times.

Even as simple as FFVIII was when you stayed at low levels, there were still a few bosses that gave me a few deaths here and there, so I'm gonna have to say FFX-2.

I don't recall losing a single battle in that game at all. I mean it's not like it was a super easy game, it's just that I flew through it so quickly (as did everyone else probably), that I felt like it was the easiest game of my life. If I'm not stuck on a boss for a few days, than it's probably not that tough of a game to me. Even though I get pissed when it happens, I do think spending a good amount of time on one or two really tough bosses in a game makes for a good battle experience in that particular game.

FF IX easily as mcuh as I like the game, the only hard part in it imo was the battle was Ozma.

FVII was really easy for me as well since KOTR decimates everything.

Well nobody else seems to have mentioned it, but I felt FFX was by far and away the easiest of the game, plot wise at least. Of course every FF game has some hard side quest, but just speaking purely of the plot, you can really over power yourself, being able to hit harder then 9999. Even the "last" boss was a joke, you could one shot him. It almost seems ludicrous how easy that game can be.

Definitely Crisis Core. That game was so easy. I didn't even do all the missions - it wasn't really necessary to me since I was just so tempted to beat the game, knowing how simple it was. It didn't provide any challenge (enemies and bosses alike), but then again, I didn't complete all the missions so maybe therein lies the problem.

FFX-2 was also fairly easy. I died a few times but not as much as the other FF games I've played. The final boss was a cinch! I thought I was going to have to repeat a few times, but no, that wasn't the case at all. Beat the boss the very first try.

Ya, im gonna have to go with X. I played VII and VIII when i was really little so of course there was hard stuff for me. But X, i just kinda bles through it. But there were challenging parts dont get me wrong.

FFIX for me. I didn't find any of the bosses really challenging, other than Necron. If you learn the correct abilities, and master the spells and such, the game's a piece of cake.

Although, every FF Game after VI has been really easy. XII was harder than VII, VIII, IX and X in my opinion.

Hmm, I think I would have to say either VI or X. X wasn't too much of a challenge for the most part in my opinion, the bosses at the end were too easy and considering you can't die for the final boss it's a win win fight. They all have their easy and difficult points though.

X-2 was definitely the easiest, I cruised through the story with no problems at all. The Alchemists Mega-potion ability made things very easy, and if anything ever gave you problems there was always Catnip (Which wasn't even hard to get).

10 I always end up dealing up to 60000 before the final boss.
