General Gaming Help Section

Hey everybody! So, as you may have (or haven't) noticed, the Handheld section in Rocket Town is now gone. We've decided we really don't need it anymore. Basically what we're going to do, is be creating a new section. It's going to be like a non-FF/KH Help Booth for any games on any gaming platform. What we need are your suggestions, feedback, ideas and anything you may have to contribute to this new section we're working on creating.

Not only do we think this is a good idea, but that it also may be a way for us to bring in new members as well which is a plus for us. The general ideas we were having was when a person makes a help thread in this general gaming help section (we're still trying to come up with a name for it btw!) they would include the name of the game and gaming console this game is on and then of course the question in the thread title. Something along the lines of:

Thread Title:

[XBox: The Last Remnant] How do I get to Royotia?
or
[PSP: God of War] Quest for Pandora's Box


Then of course the person could create their post, explaining why they're lost or need the extra help, etc...That would be just so people would see in the thread title what specific game and what platform it's on so they can help said thread creator. Anyway, that's just the basics for now, but we'd much appreciate any ideas you guys may have to throw at us! And of course a name for the section itself. ;)) Thanks in advance!

As already covered, it would be a great idea to implement this section. It's about time, eh? So do look out for a new section later today! =] A guideline will be posted along with it so that members are aware of the 'format' and a few other information.
 
It's a great idea in my opinion, it's easy for a post to get overlooked or missed completely if someone's asking for help in a general threads about a certain game, so making this section will ensure their help questions will be answered, or at the very least, noticed.

What about an FAQ/Mini guide/chat code sub section with it, where we can post the basics from games, or answers to FAQs aswell as cheats?

For example, Thread: [PS3] Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Q: I've beaten the game and started again, but haven't got my items and weapons, what the hell?
A: Don't worry, you'll get all your Items and Weapons, aswell as Drebin points back as soon as you meet up with the MKII.

Q: How do I get the FaceCamo for the Beauties?
A: Beat them with out killing them, so use weapons such as the MK2 pistol, V-Ring ammo for the shot gun etc.

And so on.

Then others can add theirs to the thread, and either the thread creator or moderator can edit them in to the first post.
 
Hmm, I'm not too sure what to think about that. I guess we'll see what the others have to say. At the moment we're just focused on creating the section itself first, and we'll see what we can add up after.

But first, name suggestions for the section, anyone? So far we have:

As I've already said this is a great idea! I am really digging Gaming Advocate so far. I am not too creative when it comes to names, so therefore I'll just vote for one that is already made.

Can't wait to see what attention this site gets when its up.
 
To be honest, none of those names gives me the impression of "go here to get help on games".
The first one makes it seem like the forum is dedicated to legal things, like copyright issues and whatnot. Whereas the second one is like "help me forget game X"

I say a name should be logical to what it is. A help booth should be named accordingly.
It is like he way they named toilets "restroom" I don't see anyone ever resting in here!

So, my opinion is simple, name it so hat it makes sense instead of something fancy.
'Gaming help booth' or something uncool that will work, as it explains what it is.

Gaming help
The Helping hand
The guide
Guiding hand

etc...

Im sorry for not coming up with any good ones, but I suck with making names.

Game Guide sounds good to me actually. Simple but straight to the point. Any more votes/suggestions?
 
This sounds like a great idea and I would be willing to add my gaming knowledge to anyone in need of help.

I'd say the Game Guide sounds like a good name.

I think this is a great idea and it should definitely attract more members at least, as for names urm o_O

As others have said, Gamers Guide is quite a nice one, or something like General Gamers Guide, to be more 'spific. :gasp:
Iuno really because i'm terrible at names but they're all good ideas, and sounds like it'll be a helpful section for people. :monster:
