Help getting tonberry

Limit breaks work well against them. The kills still count if you leave the ruins.

Stick to what suits you the best. You could also wait and stock up on Ultima spells and add them your Str junction first then with low HP unleash your limit breaks (without using Aura) on them.
 
I assume you're going after the Tonberry King. Good luck with that. Its more a test of your patience than anything. The best thing to do against the tonberries is Demi and Diablos as it's safer to your party. Do be sure to look out for the Everyone's Grudge ability though. If you're relying on the crisis level boost for limits then more than likely an Everyone's Grudge will kill the target. So take it slow if you plan to use limits and its a good idea to stick the revive ability on someone.

One thing to note though on Tonberry King. He is immune to Gravity based attacks so Demi and Diablos are useless against him. In this case it is better to use limit breaks but be sure to be careful, he doesn't need to get close to shank you and he has the Junk ability , which hits the entire part for about 600-1000.
 
Micro-Missiles is ace for these little critters. instantly wipes out half of their HP. I always make sure Quistis opens up with that, I have both her and Aqual on low HP so I can renzokuken away aswel, the other character I just use to attack with full health just incase I have a miss-ha with one of the other 2 dying. You will cut through them pretty quickly that way

Just be sure to heal on/before you're 20th Tonberry. Once you get to the TOnberry King, keep yourself under protect. The 'Junk' attack hits all the party and can hurt quite abit. Other than that, you should be reet
