Guilty Musical Pleasures

I, myself used to be a musical snob as a young teen and would turn my nose up at most mainstream shit pretty much for that fact alone. Years later I would come to sneakily enjoy a bit of shit-music.

Know what I mean?

No?

Okay, example #1

Nickelback...

Done laughing?

They're an ace band imho, just recently got back into it after watching Spiderman with Kroeger and that depressant from Saliva tuning out the soundtrack and so I went on the d/l spree imminently. Fair do's, a fair few snobbery noses are poked upwards to this band but not I.

My question to you is: What's your secret favourite band?

Definition: "Secret favourite band" - A band you've followed since early teenhood. Whenever you listen back to their albums, no matter how long the gap in neglect, you will remember the lyrics (mostly) word for word. If you were to raise this band in discussion in a social event, people would most certainly frown.

Spice Girls.

They're fucking amazing. I have all their CD's still stacked up in my closet, and when in the mood I still play them on full volume.

Sporty spice aka Melanie C, is now a solo artist, and I've been and still am a huge fan of her.

I don't keep any of the bands I like a secret. If I like a band, I shouldn't need to defend my opinion against someone else's because it is an opinion.

That being said, the band I like that gets the most hate is probably Green Day.

Despite my usual distaste for all mainstream popmusic, I own all of Dido's albums. Of all female pop vocalists, she is one of my favorites and I think her songs have more quality then those of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera or whoever.

But I'm not hiding any of my musical tastes though, al my albums are placed next to eachother on a shelf for everyone to see.

The Kingston Trio.

I mean come on, that band is one of the best folk groups in history. I love all of their songs, especially MTA, Reverend Mr. Black, Greenback Dollar, etc. They had so much energy it really gave a new life to the classic folk songs. May the original group's members (two of them at least) rest in peace.

I don't really keep anything about my music or movie tastes a secret, even if people don't share my tastes. Stuff them. I'll listen to/watch whatever I want to.

But I suppose if I were to think of something that may be slightly embaressing it would be:

Hilary Duff
Miley Cyrus

I keep alot of my music taste a secret.
Reason is that most people would probaply not understand my taste what so ever.

Like I like Cinema Bizarre and Tokio Hotel *hides*
But what I keep mostly a secret is that I'm literally in love with the entire genre of Korean Pop.

Might not be much of a secret online, but IRL it's stuck down in a drawer.

Depeche Mode is really the only I keep kinda secret as far as a major band goes. Mostly because everyone who does know them are 25 or older.

As far as my other music tastes, I do keep them secret because some of them are kind of cheesy, like I admit I like listening to movie soundtracks from Arnold movies from The Running Man, Commando, The Terminator. Also as far as other cheesy/weird themes I like listening to the Chase Theme from Midnight Express. I actually do have a very diverse library of stuff, not a whole lot of mainstream but a lot of movie and video game soundtracks.

Dizzee Rascal, though nothing since Bonkers. That was his last good song, and there were a few before then but he seems to have gotten too big headed lately.

The Jetsons movie soundtrack. If you've ever heard it, you'll understand why someone might be ashamed of it. (Tiffany. :faint:) I'm not as shy about talking about the weird music I like as I once was--I think everyone knows I'm weird by now--but it's probably not something I'd ever discuss with my favorite artists. :shame:

Also--does anyone remember Jimmy Ray? I (gulp) liked this one too:
