Handsome Women and Pretty Men.

Are there any women you'd say were handsome, as apposed to "hot" "fit" "sexy" or whatever the usual terms are or would you not consider using the term to describe a women?

Same question but in reverse for "pretty men,"

I think Tilda Swinton is a very 'handsome' woman. She has a very androgynous way about her.

There are a few, yes. Typically I would refer to women who has a very bold and striking features about her as 'handsome'. Not saying that they're tomboyish of the sort...they could be sophisticated, and I'd still view them as handsome. They just tend to age a bit better than the beautiful ones, I guess...although that's just my point of view. Let's see...Tilda Swinton and Meryl Streep comes to mind. Of course, it isn't just about looks either. Strength of mind, dignity, and a few other quality traits are taken into account.

And men that aren't exactly 'masculine' but has a feminine aura about them as 'pretty'.

I use the term handsome for older women whom have aged well, like Meryl Streep, Sigourney Weaver, Dame Judi Dench, Julie Walters to name afew. Men on the other hand, I cant recall using the term beautiful for any. I called 1 or 2 of my exs that lol.

Any woman who I may be able to call "handsome" would probably end up getting labeled "mannish" by me. I dunno, I've just never found myself thinking of any woman as handsome.

I've thought of guys as "pretty" though. Lance Bass! Back in 5th grade, everyone thought he was a woman dressed up like a man. Awesome.

I think I get the gist of this thread. For instance I don't find Natalie Portman hot, she's pretty though. Looks like more like girlfriend material to be honest. Considering her age Sandra Bullock is gorgeous.

As far as guys? I have no idea? I guess the ones who look more fem than others. Pretty much anyone in the "romance" comedy scene. I notice a trend though, that most women say the hot guys are the ones that look the most fem. Boggles my mind.. but whatever.

Like Cloud compared to Cid in FFVII. Cloud is vvvvveeerrrrrryyyyy fem even sometimes in the emotional aspect, while Cid is the opposite.
