Havent seen this before...

Yeah, I remember this being mentioned in a thread ages ago somewhere, It's really nifty - I think it was too prove that just because a tech demo was made didn't mean that there ws gunna be a remake, Im guessing it was in a FFVII remake thread :wacky:

Was that the original graphics in the video?? yeah i know its a dodgy quality vid but i dont remember the VIII graphics being like that. Or was it cuz its a demo???

Its just a technical demo like what they did for Final fantasy VII on the Playstation 3. Just showing off the PS2's mind blowing graphics lol

Oh, I've seen this. It's a tech demo to test out the PS2 graphics.

...does anyone else think the dance choreography looks absolutely ridiculous in this? Original FMV ftw :P

Yeah, I saw it way back when the PS2 was first coming out. I thought everyone had.

Addendum: Laguna, these are on the fly engine graphics- FF8 had pre-rendered graphics in the FMV. They're showing they can get roughly on par with previous FMVs with the graphics processor in the PS2.

That looks absolutely ridiculous. No way on earth Squall would dance like that, that early in the game. He looks like he's prancing around like a ballerina.
I hope they don't include this in a possible remake. That would be awful to watch.
Original is way better.

I remember seeing it a few months ago, I didn't really think too much of it though, the original FMV was much better IMO.

Yea, I've seen this on youtube before actually. The part at 0:40 makes me lol :neomon:

It was still cool getting to see one of my favorite scenes from VIII in better graphics though. Still, if they ever did remake the game, I would hope they'd stay truer to the original scene. It's still the best imo.

thats the first time i've ever seen that. i actually think the original is better which is weird, youd think a ps2 demo would be much better

I think it was just to show what it would have been like if it was ported to the PS2, but in all honesty they could've picked a better FMV...

I saw this a week or two ago. Pretty decent graphics, looks like the CGI itself. Might've been awesome if they remaked the game for the PS2.

I had seen it before, when they first released the PS2 in my country, the dance scene between Squall and Rinoa was featured in the PS2 commercial.

What the heck a ps2 demo for Final Fantasy Viii? The dance scene was on ps2 what are you guys talking about? I am confused someone explain plz. When ps2 came out there was a demo but it was actually never ported to ps2 right?

Not a playable demo, I'm assuming this is a tech demo created to show the capabilities of the PS2's graphics...
Just like there was an FF6 tech demo showing the capabilities of the N64 (before the announcement that FF7 would be coming out on the Playstation instead)...
And also just like the FF7 clip shown in PS3 graphics used to show the capabilities of the new system.

So no, it doesn't neccessarily mean a remake or port was intended for the system at all.

But I do hope they continue to make FFVII for the PS3. Or maybe for the future PS4 or something.
Mainly because my brother said he wont play the game because of its poor graphics. Wich i think is a stupid reason because the game is great. And he still plays VIII. But for shortsighted people like my brother it would be a good idea to release the playstation 1 FF's on PS3. (and I would like it too) Although FFIX looks pretty good right now.

Right that being said, I'm gonna go play Crisis core in bed. I'm sleepy.

I don't think FFVIII and IX need to be remade for the PS2, graphics aren't everything, and besides FFIX and VIII have good graphics.

Remaking them would just end up ruining the story.

So tech demos are demos to test how the game is good with next gen graphics right? FFVIII would not be that bad on ps3 but still it was a amazing game and I think there should at least be a sequel and not a remake. AS for VII I can sAy make a remake.
